  1. Had to look this up. Most interesting read.
  2. Took a while to locate a copy of a tough paperback from Spain featuring titillating cartoons drawn by Spanish great, Jose Gonzalez. Came through Belgium. Nothing like the thrill of the hunt.
  3. Since I have a better chance to win the lottery than find an original of this super rare REH book, I bought the facsimile. https://reh.world/howardworks/hardcovers/a-gent-from-bear-creek-3/#
  4. While looking through my bookcases for Willie Mays memorabilia, I found these interesting paperbacks. “The Iron Dream” by Norman Spinrad purchased during my college days almost five decades ago. Met Norman Spinrad and was fortunate enough to have him sign my copy. Feast Unknown is absolutely X-Rated. If you know, you know. Tarzan fights Doc Savage in a frenzied sex orgy. The follow-up is pretty mild.
  5. Batman 1, still not slabbed. One of three copies owned by the late Jerry Robinson.
  6. Have both. Posted last year. Have to buy when available, otherwise you snooze you lose.☹️ Found the book on the left at my favorite bookstore in the known universe, Kayo Books.
  7. Don’t forget Creepshow written by Stephen King. OA drawn by Wrightson from Heritage, but not mine.☹️ It’s almost Father’s Day! But I do have a Nathan Grantham action figure.
  8. @Robot Man Bob, thanks for reminding me that Alien Worlds was also produced by Pacific Comics with covers and interiors by the late great Dave Stevens as an EC homage.
  9. Thanks for the great report! Is that a heavily trimmed first Doc Savage underneath the chicken, pulled pork, and corn bread? There is no Street and Smith on the top of the cover.
  10. I enjoyed Twisted Tales produced by Pacific Comics in the eighties as an EC clone. The story “Banjo Lessons” found in Twisted Tales #5 was an especially memorable story. Wouldn’t place any pictures, other than the cover. Story is not for those with weak stomachs.
  11. Here is the deluxe version book that I purchased from the UK in 2018. Beautiful color reproductions can be found throughout the marvelous book with 316 wonderful pages. Now that I am an older collector, I tend to splurge on the nicer editions.
  12. Greeting fellow fright fans, Here is more information on the upcoming new EC series from Oni Press with information coming from Previews Catalog 428 May 2024. Previews provides fans an opportunity to see what is available for preorder at my LCS. Marvel and DC announcements are no longer found in Previews. Unlike the olden days of collecting, at least at my LCS, I must preorder the comics and place them on my pull list, otherwise I may miss out. My LCS can't afford to stockpile comics, since comics are no longer returnable and cost the dealer quite a bit of cash. Preorders for the first new EC series must be in by May 19 at my LCS to ensure that I get a copy. There will be at least Ugh eight variant covers. I visit my LCS regularly, at least once a week on new comics day. Since the internet days, brick and mortar stores are slowly becoming extinct. Support your LCS.
  13. @Robot Man I had my LCS place these on my pull list. EPITAPHS FROM THE ABYSS #1 | July 2024 CRUEL UNIVERSE #1 | August 2024 EPITAPHS FROM THE ABYSS #2 | August 2024 CRUEL UNIVERSE #2 | September 2024 EPITAPHS FROM THE ABYSS #3 | September 2024 CRUEL UNIVERSE #3 | October 2024
  14. I graduated in 1976, so we sadly never crossed paths. Remember the paperbacks were half cover price. I remember the SF Main Library had their annual book sale, where paperbacks were a nickel. My friends and I bought shopping bags filled with our favorites.
  15. George Wilson was also the forever suffering neighbor of Dennis the Menace. Found this book two weeks ago at Kayo Books.
  16. Quite possibly, George Wilson, who painted covers for Gold Key comics, including Magnus Robot Fighter. These photos bring back memories of the seventies, when my college roommates and I would take a break from studying and go hunting for paperbacks at Moe’s, Shakespeares, and Pellucidars book shops in Berkeley. Only Moe’s remains and at a different location run by the daughter.
  17. Latest additions from Kayo Books, my favorite book store in the universe. The store has an ever changing inventory available at decent prices. A complete magic tricks collection showed up at the store, while I was there yesterday. Ron Blum, co-owner with wife Maria Mendoza, is great at finding weird and interesting ephemera. The original John Willie Bizarre fanzines have tape and other defects, and so were priced accordingly. The North Beach Girl is the UK edition; note the UK price on the cover. Lived in North Beach from the age of 3.5 to 15, which was a great place to grow up.
  18. Ever have a day, when you wake up and decide to go to your favorite bookstore Kayo Books and find… many beautiful drawings by Frazetta. There is tape on the spine, so Maria Mendoza gave a nice discount. I am all smiles right now.
  19. Back in the eighties, two of my coworkers and I were walking back from lunch in the North Beach part of San Francisco, as we walk by the topless clubs on Broadway, a barker shouts “Perverts half price, two out of three of youse guys will qualify.” No work got done that afternoon, since the finger pointing never stopped. Good times!😂
