  1. >>I'm not sure about Happy as a speculator book.<<

    You are AWARE of this:

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/rza-grant-morrison-happy-377536

The book is pure money in the long term.

Expect a roller coaster ride short to mid term.

Sure I'm aware of the movie Larry. Like I said - I hope I'm wrong but i think unless this book becomes ongoing I can't see it being a speculator hit, even though its one of my current favourites. I'll hold a couple just in case (thumbs u

  2. We need some books to speculate about, seems like its been ToT WD Saga Revival and now Bedlam. Books are hard and expensive to get with little flipping value.

Sooooooooooo whats the new one ?

    Happy

I'm not sure about Happy as a speculator book. It was a huge print run (about 37,000 from memory)

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE the book but I think these numbers, and the book being a 4 issue mini will work against it.... I hope I'm wrong!

  3. This was a tweet from Grant Morrison on 10/27:

"One week today - The RZA gives us The Man with the Iron Fists - next up, let's get Happy!"

Of course, he's alluding to the upcoming "Happy" movie by RZA.

  4. My pick for speculation? ANY mainstream Marvel title published between 1997 and 2001. Very low (~25K for SPIDER-MAN!) print runs, and you can buy them for literally pennies. Stick them away. The Rule of 25 always holds.

Excuse my ignornance, Dan, but how many years do we have to hold these for? Rule of 25; what's that?

Rule of 25 is that things become "popular" approx every 25 years.

I think it's more that people become nostalgic for things they had in their childhood. It obviously doesn't work for everything though and there's a "rule of 25" and a "rule of 30"

mintcollector should be here any minute now lol

  5. The same Scalped that is selling for $200+ in 9.8?

You've done well there - It's the black spine thats the problem isn't it, along with a flaw highlighting dark cover.

Yep. The spine is definitely tough on that book.

Regarding TWD 92 and 53, alot depends on the show especially with Abe, but I don't think I'll be selling my copies at the current $15 - $30. I'd rather hold onto them and find out if they are going to be the future 19 and 27.

Would print runs be a factor though? 92 has a print run of over 30,000 whereas 19 and 27 are around the 20,000 mark.

  6. Lookouts #1 and 2

Very very low print runs. Penny arcade fan base. All ages comic that is a great story.

#1 can be found for cover for now, but #2 is sold out almost every place I've looked.

I think over the next year the price on these will see a nice jump as more people discover the series.

Also, #1 SDCC variant is already an $18-$24 book.

Yes that was strange with The lookouts. #2 was sold out nearly as soon as it was released. Luckily I pre-ordered a couple and I'm in for the series of this book.

I'm really not too confident that it'll ever be a money earner TBH (I hope I'm wrong) but I think it's a good honest book with great art that deserves a lot more attention. #1 had a tiny print run of 4,144 so hopefully the demand outweighs supply one day (thumbs u

  7. My pick for speculation? ANY mainstream Marvel title published between 1997 and 2001. Very low (~25K for SPIDER-MAN!) print runs, and you can buy them for literally pennies. Stick them away. The Rule of 25 always holds.

What are your thoughts on Ultimate Spider-Man and DD Vol#2? I've seen some nice runs of these available recently selling for a pittance of what they used to be worth. It'd be interesting to know what your thoughts are on these because they fall into that criteria.

  8. It's easier after you lose that OCD compulsion bug (easier said than done). I quickly realized it was more enjoyable to me to just cherry pick the covers I like (not specific to Bedlam, but in general) than try to get everything as that "everything" just keeps getting to ridiculous levels when you talk about Modern comics.

I do exactly that also. And usually I buy one or two variants at most. I bought the NYCC, Forbidden Planet and Third Eye variants of #1. I won't be buying any variants in future issues though. There will be at least 5 variants per issue I'm guessing

  9. This is what happens when you try to flip non-first prints.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/360498739610?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

According to GPA there was a Revival #1 3rd print that sold for $11.00... That's a huge loss and I agree - second, third, fourth prints may have nice covers, complete your collection etc. and what you do with your money is fine, but why buy 10 or 20 copies? As far as speculation goes these books will never sell. Full stop.

  10. It's impossible to buy every variant really. Especially for me here in Australia. I can see this happening for every single issue so after #1 it's regular issues only for me.

I just can't wait to actually read the book at least through to issue 5 and see how the story develops. It's gonna be an awesome book I feel, but I'm growing tired of all the "exclusive" variants.

  11. 40% Informative

    20% Mis-informative

    5% Drama

    5% Off topic

    30% Larry hate

    SsOkay..

I have adamantium skin & the energy of a million exploding suns.

Don't be so hard on yourself Larry. Many board members appreciate your input - even the ones that give you grief at times (thumbs u

yes but as you have now pointed out he has his percentages wrong (quick grab the pitchforks)

  12. >>I would love to see your speculation on the Phantom variant!<<

I honestly do not know what you mean, friend.

    ??

    rephrase

    Phantom Variant Bedlam

why you think they will increase in value? ??

(%) probability that they will go up? ??

what price do you think they will achieve? ??

how long we should hold it? short or long term

    additional notes:?

I think it's nearly impossible to speculate on something like this and it wouldn't matter what Larry said he'd be criticized.

  13. Great idea as long as it doesn't end up the way of the last 2 or 3 attempts (shrug)

I think "The fire" was the last one and the OP didn't have a clue. At least there's some ground rules laid in this one. The most important thing is not to put anyone else down for the books that they think will do well. If everyone does that it'll do fine
