  1. Has there ever been a brand new book with 5+ variants of the first issue that went on to mega-money success?

    Chew?

    Walking dead?

    Bazzzzzzzzzzzzzinga

One of the funniest, most uneducated posts to appear on the boards.

    Absolutely.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he selectively ignored the part of the question that regarded 5+ variants.

That's still drawing a long bow lol I'm guessing he missed the part about the first issue. Maybe he thought because TWD #100 had a ton of variants that it qualified (shrug)

I think the answer to the original question though is NO. I can't think of any books off hand that have had 5+ variants of the FIRST issue that have had "mega-money" success

  3. It's true , it's a lot of variants 26 actually. But If I like the covers I will buy them. If not I'll pass. For instance I have bedlam dead pool and getting great pacific , passing on FF because it's not my thing. To each their one

In the long run these variants won't help the book succeed IMO. Some of the covers look good but are they worth $40+? Not for me they're not. 1, 2, 3 variants is ok but 26? It's beyond a joke now.

Buy what you like and enjoy it but I'm done with any variants in the future if this is what the future holds for Image titles. TWD #100 was the start of something bad as far as variants (and cash grabbing) are concerned. I moved away from the big two publishers because of this BS and now it's starting at Image?

I like this book but the variant chase seems to be overshadowing everything.

  4. It's the kind of book that you have to re-read too. I thought it was ok the first time but after reading the first 4 again last week I REALLY liked it. It would be much better to read in TPB's I think.

  5. Variants are bad for future value when it comes to future newbies who want to go all in.

Walking Dead had two variants of issue #1 (Black/White) when released. and even most people dont differentiate between the two (i do)

Walking Dead #1 had NO variants. Even if you think it did it it doesn't matter. It would only be 1 anyway if it had one different cover but It is not a variant.... Full Stop.

  6. if anyone would like to unload their #1's @$2.50 each delivered, keep me in mind :)

if anyone would like to unload their #1's @$7.50 each delivered, keep me in mind

    $7.51 each :baiting:

$12.50 a piece and I'm not even kidding

  7. It's funny in the thread " moderns losing steam on eBay" it's all about revival tanking. With all this news I thought for sure it would be on its way back up

They haven't talked about Revival in that thread. TWD yes, but not Revival (shrug)

  8. This is currently the stupidest arguement going on right now in CGC world. Lets step it up people.

This is the stupidest argument right now

    http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6123956#Post6123956

People need to stop sending in until they catch up period.

You are joking right? You know people sell books to earn a living don't you? And what is in your opinion?

THAT is the stupidest argument hands down.

  9. The sad thing is that PGX would be reading this thread and laughing. A lot of noobs that don't know any better will give them some business so they won't have to wait 6 months for thier books. Inadvertently, CGC is keeping PGX in work. Could anyone disagree with me on this? PGX isn't a viable option obviously but people that aren't on these boards and don't know any better will choose them for shorter turnaround times.

  10. My copy of Chew #1 is miscut, does this hurt the value much?

Wow I can't say that I've ever seen one that bad.

It's still a Chew 1 and its not technically a defect. I would think that if someone had a choice between this one and a perfectly cut/ centered book they would probably choose the latter though.

  11. It probably depends on how much License the creators are prepared to give NBC. I would presume that things would have to be tweaked to suit TV and it makes it more interesting if the show differs from the book IMO. Otherwise we'll know exactly what's going to happen.
