  1. I need to rant because I'm so upset by this. I was looking so forward to the Action Comics #1000 blank variant. And then they finally showed it off yesterday.

And this is how it should have looked in my opinion. This is what would have personally made me happy.

    What do you all think?

Nailed it! Leaving as is or possibly adding color?

I've been thinking about this more and more. I have a few books I would like colored. If I can ever get access to a really good scanner I would scan in the covers and have them colored in that way. I know the colorists I would want to do each cover too,. But I wouldn't do it to the originals. I'm also ridiculously paranoid about light damage that I'm not in a hurry to find a scanner. It will happen one day.

Agreed! I'm jealous. I only have the copy I got off the shelf when I was a kid, and it's beat to at this point. That's a nice-looking, crisp copy there!

I hunt for beat up copies of the original Transformers to fill my spinner rack. Love the comic book series and I don't feel bad about just picking one up out of the rack to show someone or read.

Please explain to me where on earth you found such a clean Superman blank cover? I've never seen one. In fact, I'm hoping to the gods that the Action Comics 1000 is super clean.

Starting to get really excited for the show! Will be bringing a box of books to get signed throughout the weekend, and will be getting a couple commissions, too. The dealer lineup looks pretty good as well.

And just a reminder - we're hosting a Comic Book Trade Party at the con on Saturday, 5:00pm. Bring some books to trade! I'll be bringing a shorbox with a mix of stuff - GA, SA, BA, some modern stuff, raw and slabs. I like to have a mix of things. Hope to meet some boardies there!

What is the setup going to be like? I was looking at the ECCC map and WSCC 307 looks like a table to me on the main convention floor. For some reason I had in my head a room like one of the fan meetups where we could all bring in our comics and chat with each other.

There is an exhibitor who is set up near my booth each year, really nice guy, owns a comic shop in southern California and drives up for ECCC. You should check out his booth if you are looking for blank cover variants as he usually has a lot of them. He is listed as Comic Madness, booth #2224. You can also check Corner Comics, booth #2221 right across from him, they may have some too. They are both located near the tower of t-shirts in the main exhibition hall by the food court and ATM area, just a few rows to the east of the Funko booth.

Wow! Thank you so much for making this easy for me to locate! I will most defiantly check them out.

Hey guys, first time in this part of the boards. These covers are great. I recently purchased a Star Wars cover sketch by Medina from Court and am having him submit it to cgc directly. Will it be a yellow label since he's his rep? Doesn't really matter honestly, having it cgc'd more for the case/display. Why do you guys prefer the books to just regular commisions? Just curious. I'll post pics down the road!

I'm a big fan of doing the blank covers over a normal 8x11 bristol board commission. It's mostly just because I love comics. I also find it easier to rotate out my display with sketch covers than bristol board art. I feel like I have to high-end frame all those commissions and that gets way pricy quickly.

Yes! That's exactly what we should be doing here on the boards :)

Hoping a few boardies can make it!

I put this event together to bring the local community together and to have a place for comic collectors at ECCC to hang out and do some trading. I've hosted a couple comic trade parties before, and it's always a blast with a mix of everything from modern to GA books. Someone always finds something they want to trade for.

Well okay. What am I looking for?

    Transformers comics.

Mostly trying to hunt down a few rare books from the Dream Wave days.  Blank covers from IDW's Transformers: Regeneration One. Even looking for drawn on issue 81s. Blank covers in general for that matter I would be stoked to check out. Not just Transformers.

I've got some pretty awesome news - my panel/event submission for ECCC was accepted, and I'll be hosting a comic book trade party! This is open to all ECCC attendees, and everyone can bring a box of comics to trade with other attendees. It's on Saturday at 5:30pm. If you're attending ECCC, it would be awesome if you could join the trade party and meet other boardies in attendance! This could even be an unofficial boardie meetup

Here's the official description and event page:

This is pretty cool and I'm looking forward to attending. I wonder if this would be a good place for people to ask what they are looking for and what they are bringing. Maybe get a step up on helping each other out?

Anyone else a little underwhelmed with the comic guest list this year? Last year was amazing, as were the years before that. Not a lot of big Image writers and artists this year like there usually are.

    This!

You know, I'm a huge Transformers fan. And there is a hand full of Transformers artists coming to this conventions. However, I've met them all before either at ECCC or other Transformers conventions. I would like to meet someone new.

I've also been searching the guest list for artists who I would be interested in getting sketch covers from and I'm just not seeing any I'm interested in. Transformers or others. So yea. I too am a bit underwhelmed by the guest list. I'm really hoping the show will make up for it in other ways. But a huge vinyl pop booth isn't it.

  11. Hi everyone. I found this thread thanks to comix4fun posting in The OFFICIAL "This week in your ORIGINAL ART collection?" thread. I am a big D&D fan and the last ten years I spent in Alaska, playing D&D 4E with my friends saved us from the darkness and boredom. Since then I've been more into Swords & Wizardry (OSR). I don't get to play much since moving down to Washington state. I miss it.

Anyway, I've been a fan of the TSR art and slowly learning about the artists who have worked at TSR. This whole thread has been very informative and interesting. Thank you all.

Last year at Emerald City Comic Con, I commissioned an artist to homage the famous Larry Elmore art from the redbox. I'm also a huge Transformers fan so I had the artist replace the fighter on the piece with a Transformer.

Just a friendly reminder the Punisher show is now up on Netflix.

    btw it is awesome.:headbang:

I'm not the most active on this thread, but I am subscribed to it and lurking often.

Last night I finished the 4 fourth episode. I'm enjoying this show so damn much. So far it's my favorite of all the Marvel netflix shows.

One thing did bother me in Episode 2. I say this knowing I'm not well versed in the PUNISHER. Just a fanboy.

    Spoiler

The fight between the PUNISHER and Carson Wolf at the end of the episode was stupid long. It didn't work for me. They needed to show the punisher struggling more due to his hurt leg to make the fight that long. the scene didn't work for me. It was like the put it in to kill time or stretch out time.  It just was too long of a fight. Wolf should have been put down sooner or he needed to discover the PUNISHERS hurt leg and use it to his advantage.  But this is me nitpicking. Out of four episodes watched so far, this being the only issue I have is a good thing.

  13. I've been thinking about this more and more. I still think Blank Cover books can hold some value if you invest in them beyond the cover price. But, I wonder if first appearances will still hold value. Batman: The Animated Series, issue 12 should not be worth what it is. It's just because It's a first appearance in a modern book. So I guess first appearances could make the book worth something.
