  1. There is a former board member (inactive) that did something like this. I did not come forward. Turns out other people had similar issues. You didn't do anything wrong here in my opinion they did. The ONLY thing that you could have offered differently was to ask them to add on 3% of the old invoice onto the new one to cover the fees that they would not get back from PayPal from the refunding of the first invoice. But they entered a business agreement that they should have upheld. Your request should not have been a deal breaker.
  2. I've said this before The guy that wanted to buy a piece of art from me on eBay and said he was a true collector and really wanted it. I would not budge on the price so he bought it with the condition that I come to him first with any other art I found. I won the exact same page back within a few months at a fraction of what I sold it to him for after a former board member alerted me to its presence in a Comic Link auction. I emailed him to let him know that I had another page that I thought he would be interested in as a true collector. No response.
  3. You did nothing wrong here as many people do this. What was your reasoning behind submitting them through the comic store? CGC offers paid accounts and free accounts. Even the paid account gives you an automatic credit of the cost of membership applicable to the grading fees for books along with other perks. In either case, submitting the books under your account gives you more of an ability to oversee where everything is in the grading process.
  4. This post actually saddens me and not by any action of yourself. It saddens me because he never truly understood the consequences of his actions. Here we are after he has been banned and when his name is forever mentioned, the association of carrying on, rage, threats and all else will be associated with him for a good long time. He had the opportunity to have a successful business venture and your post demonstrates through his actions that he essentially shot himself in the foot. If I pass his booth at a comic show, this type of stuff will always be the first stuff I think about.
  5. Just saw the breaking news and apparently I may not be able to add a new member to my NFL Legal Troubles Chase Autograph Card Collection
  6. WHAAAAAAAH?!?!?!?!?! Baker's Dozen: Lemon Donut night was Night 11 of the 13 night run back on 8/4/17 https://liveforlivemusic.com/features/reviews/phishmas-lemon-baker-dozen/ Yes, I was there... fricken amazing and the place went nuts when they covered Radiohead's Everything in its right place for the Lemon theme.
  7. You are the one that claims that they are being bullied which implies that you are sensitive to what others are saying and how they disagree with you. This implies that it is you that are taking it personally. I guarantee you that half of us are just killing time over here before we start our day and within a few hours you have become forgotten unless you continue to drag it on.
  8. Eh... the bagel was a little lacking. Admittedly the sandwich was $5 so that was the selling point as it was closer and cheaper. The better bagel store would have been more crowded, I could be waiting there for twenty minutes and it would have also cost $8-9 for that. So... concessions...
  9. I honestly don't know if you are worth the time to be honest. It seems you think you are being bullied and are being ganged up on. So, you are engaging in a cliche response, which is to dig in deeper no matter what in an effort to feel like you are standing your ground. I want to go get breakfast myself. It is 8am and I have to be on camera for a meeting at 8:30.
  10. Was at both of these over the 4th of July run. Both shows were a lot of fun.
  11. I am about two hours into this show - it's playing over the tv in the living room.
  12. Very disagreeable. I did not make a demand at all. I seek clarification. You are assuming that he is highly attuned because he has been collecting for so long. A perfect example of this is what we are currently seeing with the Pokemon card collectors. There are many that check those boxes that you are setting up here. They readily admit that they submit cards that are common and are not that high in demand because they 'think' there is a shot at getting a high grade on the card. So, there is a BIG difference in sitting on a case of New Mutants 98 and sitting on a case of Topps Zorro vs Dracula #2. You seem to be ignoring quite a bit. Now in terms of achieving those 9.8's, 9.9's and 10's that you claim are readily achievable in a sealed and uncirculated case, you once again ignore mitigating factors that are determined again, by the actual book. If it is glossy paper stock that reacts differently to newsprint quality comics if they have been sitting in a non temperature controlled warehouse for the last 25 years. And yes, I got my work done... took an hour and a half, but now I have to figure out breakfast. I would tell you what I have in my fridge to make breakfast, but you would probably say that you disagree with that and then when honestly told you that I do not have the ability to make avocado toast you would say I was bullying you. Maybe I have time to run to the bagel store and get a 'baconeggandcheeseonaneverythingbagelsaltpepperketchup" but first... shower. I want to smell fresh and clean over zoom today.
  13. You keep using the word, "bullying" with anyone who disagrees with you it seems. Do you actually understand what bullying is?
  14. Okay kids, listen up... Obviously this thread has a predictable direction. Remember that pernts can only be awarded once even if it is locked and reopened and then locked again. I will keep this thread open and watch throughout the day. If the ref sees the lock then it is awarded. Tag me or Pm me as I have my notifications on. If it is locked and reopened before I balance the books then it's still game on. Sometimes the Umpire misses a call. May the odds be forever in your favor. I really have work to do. (I am rooting for a couple of you to finally make the scoreboard - ahem @thunsicker cough cough )
  15. Do you remember how comics were packaged from the distributor back then? Just in case you were not, you had two smaller Diamond shipping short boxes contained within an outer Diamond long box. Even protected this way the comics still shifted. The raw books were packed side by side so even in transit an uncirculated box upon being opened exhibited some degree of a shift where the bottom books exhibited slight pulls and slight impact corner marks simply from being piled on top and side by side. You are not pulling 9.8/9.9/10.0 from that box. You have to realize that there will be plenty of 9.4's and 9.6's in the box as well. I doubt you are pulling a 10 as CGC rarely awards them and anything can happen between the 'uncirculated' box in transit to Florida. Now it is 6:01 and I have to double time something before 8. I might be back before this dumpster fire of a thread it put out by the CGC Firefighting Moderation team. Furthermore, I do not see any evidence of bullying. (Unless things have been deleted) So I do not know what is going on there.
  16. But I am not talking to him. I am talking to YOU. Be prepared, I am in the middle of another response but only have 7 minutes as I really have to get some things done. Try not to get this locked so I can response later.
  17. Actually that is not true. Shadroch ran stores and placed orders during that time period. I was in high school and a buyer. People will buy X-Men 1 and Turok 1 because they were popular issues of the time. I am more interested in the OP's comic that he found. Because far fewer people are looking to buy Turok 2 in a 9.8 or Eternal Warrior 11. Here is a purchase and resale that I made of...Eternal Warrior 11 in a 9.8. I won a copy of Eternal Warrior 11 CGC 9.8 for $6 + $10 for shipping Data taken from GPA Last year, I decided I did not want it so I listed it on eBay for a BIN of $45 shipped. (BTW anyone else see easy it is to manipulate data with the free shipping). As you can see it is the same book. $16 for my purchase. $45 - 13% fees = $39.15 - $10 shipping (estimate) and we are at $28 which is not really worth the time and investment of resources to have slabbed and sold myself. In fact, I don't think I would have bought the book to begin with if I wasn't an Eternal Warrior fan and saw that I could get this for $16 and had a thought to put together a run at 9.8. Now, how high of a demand is there for Eternal Warrior 11 in a CGC 9.8? This was the only copy sold since 2014. So it is not a book that either shows up often or anyone really wants. Judging by the price, it is not a book that anyone really wants slabbed. The OP has to factor this in before submitting a book. Do people actually "want it" ? There will always be a market for X-Men 1 in some capacity. There is apparently a very small market for Eternal Warrior 11 and even within that market, the book does not command a price where it is worth slabbing 200 copies and tying up that money as you try to recoup it over the next decade.
  18. I just woke up so I can start some paperwork before work at 8. This place is El Diablo
