  1. Yup. People outside of NY sometimes have a negative connotation as to what Brooklyn has to offer. I could sell my home on Long Island and still not afford to outright buy the equivalent in Bed Sty and definitely not in Williamsburg.
  2. DC Golden age Superman's are pretty sweet as are the vintage Joker covers. The Timely books and other WWII are sought after for a reason beyond the characters and stories but more for the historical significance. Put him in touch with some of us and we will edjumicate him. Ehh... that's a tough one. I do agree that 1st appearances are the way to go. I explained once that this mentality comes from Baseball collectors. Obviously the Jordan rookie is more desirable than his fourth year. So go after first appearances first when you can. They almost always carry a premium and will be more sought after. I said this years ago and here we are where a storyline will always take a backseat to the character's rookie appearance. WWII has always been more than just a war but a pop culture part of Americana. The GA books are in much shorter supply than silver age due to American efforts in recycling combined with the perception of periodicals and especially comic books as cheap and disposable entertainment for kids. WWII era comics and admittedly some moderns featuring first appearances have been displayed at the Smithsonian. The Virgin Variant Chromium Cover of Venom 281 in Third Print... is not. So what is more meaningful from a historic standpoint? However, there is nothing wrong with buying spec books that someone is going to pay you a bundle for with the gamble that it will increase in value for them. I do it sometimes and there is nothing wrong with it. I stick to first appearances though. I cannot keep track of the variant flavor of the week. I have books that I have flipped that I could care less about so I could raise money to buy the books I really wanted. As far as needing to show him anything though? Who cares? Why do you need his validation to collect what you want? We have an entire forum attached to us of people dropping hundreds if not thousands of dollars on pieces of cardboard with numbers on them featuring fictional animals that have magical powers. If that's what they want to do... they don't need my validation. They do them... I do me. I just like to poke fun of them when they act like a bunch of 'Karens" demanding to speak to the CGC manager about Turnaround times. Fore more fun visit the card forum.
  3. It's basically the buyer trapping you into negotiations and drawing them out while they play a wait and see game with where the same book ends up on auction. K - I just did a bunch of work. Going to take a nap.
  4. For anyone that has not seen Roy's new rule... I like it. @VintageComics
  5. I agree. You are someone that would have been taken high in the draft but are not putting up numbers to justify the contract you have been given here on the boards.
  6. That entire score was retired due to the gap where nothing was tallied. That was the consensus of those that came before me.
  7. @Angel of Death falls to second place. @porcupine48 makes the board. @Buzzetta takes the lead. Once again, the Card Forum is a place of entertainment. Oh no! You done did it now!The Boards have ANOTHER lock !PSA shut down until July. 8. Found it - at 1hr and 7 seconds... Zac Brown calls out the people fighting in the crowd to not cause any more drama. Spoiler alert. There were more fights.
  9. I started doing real workouts again in a pool around 2014 as a way to rehab after surgery... then again in 2015 after the second surgery and kept at it. I have not seen the inside of a gym since February of 2020 and... it shows.
  10. I am going over the soundboard audio to where he scolds the crowd in front of him... hold on.
  11. I have never seen a fight break out at Phish. Everyone is having a good time. Everyone is considerate of one another. I go to Zac Brown at Citi Field and fist fights from Strong Island Bros all around.
  12. Now I am looking at that picture and have, "glory days" singing in my head. I would love to be in that shape again. I was tall and lanky but could throw as hard as anyone. I swam and was supposed to do that in college. But... I thought Idecided that I knew better and did not want to do that anymore. Because even with a partial award, student loans are more fun apparently than morning practice. My brother is the real sob story though and I am silently still remorseful. I am pretty sure that my brother is in 8th grade in this picture. By this time he was already around 6ft tall. Today he is 6'4. He never played football after that break since it snapped at the growth plate. He was pretty angry about that.
  13. You know why I like you? You are every Phish concert I have ever been to.
  14. Still marked as received. I might send some other books down there to say hello.
  15. Michael Strahan is grading stuff ? (I already know this is a bad joke)
  16. I meant to trip him. Instead I wound up snapping his ankle and leg like a tooth pick bent in half. He screamed and my mom thought maybe it was just a really bad sprain and sent him to bed with the instructions that if it still hurt he would go to the doctor in the morning. It still hurt in the morning.
  17. My brother and I were the honors students with horns. I found that picture from the summer where one of our fights resulted in a cast for me and while I was in that cast I gave him a cast of his own on his leg. My parents took this picture as a memory. I don't know if this was by their suggestion or ours.
  18. I remember that. A couple of 'special' customers were asked to sit around and feel the card packs up.
  19. My mom tore all those up in a fit of rage. Trying to remember if they were torn up because of a fistfight my brother and I got into or because we staged a murder scene in the house and pretended to be murdered during a robbery while she was at work. One or the other...whatever... Good times.
  20. What did you do now? Was this from the one I told you to delete?
