  1. ... Because I want to toss the bookshelf. My Spring Cleaning is the ILLEST - Idea is to finish cleaning off this mini bookshelf. Rules I welcome thread crapping - it's entertaining. Worldwide shipping at buyer's expense. Media or Priority for US Buyers / Priority for packages going out of the US - These are all TPB's or Collections. PayPal Only Please I go by timestamp of whoever commits to buying whether that be in public or PM. No HOS, Probation List Members, Problem Children or Drama Llamas Returns are accepted so long as I am notified, and the is placed in the mail upon five days upon receipt of the item. Returns postage is at buyer's expense. Timestamp via PM or Public Claim gets the item. I don't care if you take it here or there... we go by timestamp. However, straight up taking it now publicly will beat any negotiation on anything. I am not big on negotiations but I will listen and sometimes even entertain. Since I am working from home I ship out same or next day that you pay.
  2. I stick around these parts to learn. I find this interesting because when it comes to comics, CGC allows for certain manufacturer defects to be a non-factor in the grading practice. For example, Amazing Spider-man 365 is a deluxe book with many more pages. In the binding process almost every issue has a little tear on the fold of the spine. CGC refers to this as a bindery tear and does not seem to count it as there are plenty of 9.8's that exist with that manufacturer defect. Another example is the existence of Marvel Chipping on 60's marvel also thought to have occurred by dull blades in the printing process. What manufacturer defects if any, are allowable in card grading?
  3. There is another possibility where the future is not so bleak. There seems to be a problem with the grading of Pokemon cards in general across multiple companies and the problem is obviously the sheer volume of submissions. I absolutely agree with you that this is a dumpster fire in the making across all companies. But that leads to two questions: What are the actual causes of the dumpster fire across all companies? What will the impact be? I am not a CGC apologist. If it was JUST CGC experiencing problems then surely the problem would lie on CGC. When everyone is experiencing problems then the root of the problem might be coming from someplace else. Keep in mind that there really are only two comic book grading companies and no one is seeing anything like what we are seeing with cards. The sudden explosion in the card market over the last two years seems to be driving people into submitting everything and anything. When it comes to comics people are reluctant to submit books when, "Value of comic < Grading and associated fees". By the admission of some posters they are submitting cards that may not necessarily be worth getting graded. So I have some questions. Are there collectors that are grading cards or people looking to flip? Because if there are more people looking to flip, do you think that this will cause an oversaturation of graded pokemon cards that would normally be considered common cards? Oversaturation would normally cause prices to recede. If the market corrects itself will people still submit as many cards? Would raising prices on grading cards alleviate the matter? At the lowest tier, why not submit junk cards just to have it graded. By raising prices, would Pokemon collectors be more selective in what they submit for grading OR is the mindset to have a fully graded set of a certain set of cards regardless of value? The root of the problem seems to be the sheer glut of cards that no company seems capable of handling right now. It's like if a dam broke and the card collectors were expecting the card companies to accommodate it. No matter how many pumps you have on hand the valley cannot accommodate flood once the dam breaks. So maybe something has to change and perhaps it is the culture of what deserves to be graded and what does not in order for TAT's to become more on track.
  4. I will flat out say that this is the most ridiculous comment I have ever read on grading.
  5. PayPal has their TOS... Visa has theirs. Judging by the evidence I am seeing of people having their funds frozen, PayPal would not be on the side of arguing semantics. Again, I don't want to come across as argumentative here. It's what it is. And make no mistake about it, as Shadroch stated, they are restricting PayPal sellers abilities to collect funds based upon possible indiscretions of activity.
  6. No. Because if we do that, all I have to do is say, and when you give me your email address, I screen cap what you just wrote in the thread of offering a discount if you pay using a check or money order. Then I provide your email and the screen cap to PayPal and they are tying your account up. It is against PP TOS for anyone to offer a discount to use something other than PayPal when you are including PayPal as a method of payment.
  7. When it comes to discounts, surcharges, and friends and family... I will just repost what I posted in the other thread so we don't take away from the sales thread. When I was tagged in it I did not realize that we were having that conversation in your sales thread. Badger had stated that there is a difference between a surcharge and a discount and that it was a matter of semantics. My response: I would not take your advice not because of any argument with you or because you are necessarily wrong. I would not take your advice because PayPal doesn't seem to care about semantics. It does not matter what you, or I, view as a discount or a surcharge. That can be argued while the account is tied up and they conduct an investigation. Rob Ross of the Facebook Group, GI Joe Trader PX runs a tight ship. On March 8th, look at what he called for members of the group to do. People are in fact screen capping and reporting. If anyone wants to argue with PayPal over discount v surcharge they can be my guest. I do know from the group that there have been plenty of people that had their account tied up pending investigations as PayPal sort through transactions to see what is owed. In some cases, some lost their selling privileges entirely. Price the item accordingly with the fees built in or realize it is the cost of doing business. To me, it is not worth the risk to argue semantics. PS: For example, I sold two GI Joe figures for $180 + shipping yesterday in his group. I had it listed at $190. Buyer offered $150 and asked me to meet him in the middle at $170. I said $180 + shipping and best I would do. He asked for $180 shipped. I knew what I wanted to take home on these figures after fees and the only way to do that was by $180+shipping. Buyer paid... they go out today. The math is not that hard.
  8. Yes... I am still waiting for Eastman to sign the turtles book so the jury is still out on that one.

  10. There is a real scale probelm here.
  11. Many people would save copies of FF 252 and donate the tattooz from that issue into copies of ASM 238 that were missing the tattooz. People have reported that there were instances that CGC would not notice the difference. https://rarecomics.wordpress.com/2017/10/20/amazing-spider-man-238-the-tattooz-situation/
  12. https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#accepting-payments You cannot price your items at $100 per money order / check but $103 if you use PayPal.
  13. They are saying that they are having technical difficulties. The announcement is on the main page of comics auction area.
  14. I don't hate the guy. I don't love his work either. He did a few great things but everything else is derivative from that great thing. For example, I actually like John Romita Jr's Spiderman. The problem with John Romita Jr's Superman is that Clark Kent looked like Peter Parker with darker colored hair. Whenever I open up a book by Kirby I can always find too many guys that look like Ben Grimm in his human form.
  15. Part of me truly feels that a group of drug dealers and money launderers recently discovered comic book collecting.
  16. I have two that I commissioned an artist to do and one that was a gift... but they are things that I have no intention of ever selling... Carroll Spinney commission. The original guy that performed Big Bird was also an artist. The second is a high quality reprint of a Bloom County cartoon with a remarque from Berkley Breathed.
  17. One of the things that we have learned from comics is that at auction, not everyone, but there are too many people that buy the overall number and not the book. I am guessing that you will see some of the same with cards.
  18. The Pokemon Card Area should just be renamed Caltopia Also, as of now, the Mets are putting up better numbers than @thunsickerThe Boards have ANOTHER lock !Cgc should stop receiving cardsThread starter: -5 Points (Arev)Last post: +3 Points (geraldfordfan69)Second to last: +2 Points (onlyweaknesskryptonite)Third to last: +1 Point (onlyweaknesskryptonite)Buzzetta +13Angel of Death / theCapraAegagrus +12onlyweaknesskryptonite +12Hollywood1892 +11Kav +9Jeffro +6mattn792 +6MODERATOR Dena +6The_Beyonder +6DocHoppus182 +51950's war comics +4mattyzeepgam +4Randall Ries +4thehumantorch +4Comics4All + 3Ditch Fahrenheit +3ftlepore +3geraldfordfan69 +3Jordysnordy +3KCOcomics +3Ken Aldred +3telerites +3The Lions Den +3Will78 +3F For Fake +2Gotham Kid +2IbukiLord +2Jazzman +2Jimmy Linguini +2kimik +2mephisto +2MR SigS +2Park +2Poe +2Porcupine48 +2apcoleman +1Funnybooks +1gadzukes +1Gnasher +1Lamborghinikid +1Poekaymon +1Qalyar +1SecretComicRoom +1Senormac +1The Blob +1Calamerica - 0 (Started a thread and then also had the last and second to last posts before the lock)The Nameless One - 0 (Started a thread and then also had the last and second to last posts before the lock)---------------------------------G G ® -3William-James88 -390sChild -5Arev -5Catwomancomics -5Chamberlin -5chuckfin -5cms1 -5FlyingDonut -5Guardian Comics -5HotKey -5InMattyWeTrust -5James J Johnson -5MastrCntrlProgram -5Nic8612 -5Red_Hood -5Summydad1 -5UncSven -5Bosco685 -7Domo Arigato -9Icandothisallday / jaraven7 -11dylanthekid* -15 *Banned for performance enhancing posts.
  19. I once asked him about it at NYCC prior to the first Deadpool movie. I gave him a fist bump because at the time he was still doing meet and greets with fans, posing for pictures and was very good natured about it. The guy was taking a lot of from people. I mean there are people that will stand in line to ask for a sketch of a foot. And yes, some of you will remember that I dropped off pressing paper to CAK at Big Apple / NYCBM as a goof but that was specifically CAK, there was no line, and I did it for the love of the CGC boards. But while that was a goof, I have seen people be venomous in shouting things at Liefeld at shows. Like I said, he is pretty good natured about it all and for putting up with a lot of it over the past twenty years, he gets respect for me in that area. Most other people would have caused an incident worthy of national headlines over some of the nonsense I have seen him subjected to.
  20. I was standing next to Liefeld as he was actually looking for some of his original artwork at NYCC in 2019. Recently in the group he disclosed that he no longer owns any of his original cover art to New Mutants and was wondering if anyone has them. But... he also collects and buys pages from other artists. Just a regular collector in the group as he will talk about the market and wonder aloud about where it is headed. For all we know he is a member of the boards here.
  21. He is actually a fairly active participant in the Original Art groups on Facebook run by Frank Giella. Pretty interesting guy and I mean that in a positive way.
