Interesting. So here is the thing. Obviously CGC's opening of card grading has attracted people the site. However, given that CGC is taking a middle ground stance, how does that impact their overall perception and reputation in card grading across the hobby? I ask because sometimes that holder is worth a lot more coming from one company over another.

Yeah that's what I was saying. I would think that a particular grading company has universal standards across all genres of cards that they grade. It more confusing to me that this is allowed with Pokemon stuff and not another gaming card and as you and I have both stated, definitely not with a sports card.

I can't see them being cut the right way though. The factory cuts have always been different than the non factory cuts. I think that is how they detected it on the Mastro Wagner card.

Because I would have thought that the grading companies have universal standards for a card that they grade regardless of genre. If you are holding a Jeter SP Foil in a 9 of ten, it should have the same or similar characteristics as far as surface, centering and everything else (except corners) if the same company is grading a Pokemon card.

How prevalent are forgeries though and at what tier of card?

How come they are not treated as sports cards though? Why the grading standard change / shift? I was under the impression that cards cut from a factory sheet were treated as the equivalent of 'restored'.

Welcome to the boards! We are going to love the card crew. This feels like when the hipsters moved into Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The other day, it was brought up that the introduction of the card forum would bring forth Bizarro counterparts of the comics guys. Looks like the card forum found its Dupcak.

You are going to be soooo disappointed by the Wheelie figure. It is forever kneeling. I would have been perfectly fine omitting it if they had added a sword and a rocket launcher. It's a five point of articulation figure and it does have it's merits... but I REALLY would have liked a dedicated wheelie in this scale that could transform that would have been available as a separate purchase. Make no mistake about it though, this is the definitive Grimlock. At this price point, why even bother spending $200 on a Masterpiece?

Even as I downsize, I wound up preordering a Walmart Exclusive Endor Leia, ATST Driver, and Paploo. I like the Ewoks, I wanted an updated Endor Leia and my AT ST Driver needs a copilot.

I wound up tossing the boxes on Kup and Jazz. They are really well designed. If you find Grimlock, I am telling you... it is the best incarnation of the figure ... evah.

Bizarro Dupcak, is against any kind of card restoration and runs a service to detect it.

Bizarro Stu comes here... has one user name, collects Yugio cards, extremely respectful towards the hosting company.

Bizarro Buzzetta comes on, rarely posts, is succinct when he does, collects Megablocks.

Bizarro Mitch comes here as the first guy to spend a record amount on that Charizard card. Makes total sense when he speaks.

I agree with @Jeffro. It is a wonderful thing that the card forum is attracting new blood. You know that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine meets Bizarro Jerry and George and Kramer? Somewhere out there is the card version of Cal who has 103 copies of some Pokemon card just waiting to come here and buy these chat boards.
