  1. Correct, you had to have made under a certain amount to receive the first one with a depreciated amount for every dollar above the threshold. Now, if you lived in a state where the cost of living is not as substantial then you easily qualified. Yes, I make more than the threshold. However, the cost of living is very high here on Long Island and the NYC area so what is perceived by others around the nation to be a higher income does not go as far as one would think. Nassau County property taxes are amongst the highest in the nation as is the general cost of living. I most likely pay more in home improvements than others do.
  2. There were a few guys that did things like that. I remember there was a guy in a Facebook group openly mocked for spending his stimulus check on a collectable. He had said something to the effect that the lockdown can't go on for much longer might as well put the money toward something he received enjoyment out of because he felt he should be back to work soon. I didn't get one but if I had qualified, I would have used it for essentials. I like having a rainy day fund. That's just me though.
  3. I am with you on that. I have only one comic on display in the house and that is in the curio cabinet which is a yellow label ASM 39 signed by Romita and Lee. Everything else is boxed. Now, I do have a few pieces of comic art itself hanging on the way but most of that too is tucked away. I do not see comics as something to hang on a wall. When people come over I don't want to represent my life as a comic book or retail store of collectables.
  4. I've casually mentioned this before. It's not bonkers to the new guard. It is bonkers to the old guard. We are getting old. There is the possibility that this is not a bubble that is about to burst but a changing of the guard. Let's look at AF 15 and Hulk 181. AF15 7.0 2002 High $7,000 2020 High $110,000 Hulk 181 9.4 2002 High $2,350 2020 High $10,000 with a $12,000 high in 2019. Now to us, those prices are insane. Think of the price you paid for a book that has popped in the last few years. At the price you paid, that is what it cost. Could you justify paying "Y" for a book knowing that it really only cost you "X" when you bought it years ago? To us, those books are very high. To the new blood, that's what they go for. "It is what it is" Lamenting that they should have bought a Hulk 181 in 9.4 for $3,000 is like one of us saying we should have bought a copy for $50 back in the 1980's. There is nothing they can do about that so a Hulk 181 in 9.4 at $10,000 IS normal for them... For us, it is outrageous and we can sell it and happily take their money. For the n00bz, $10,000 for a Hulk 181 9.4 is quite possibly the investment that could have been at one point buying an AF 15 in 9.4 for $10,000. We see a bubble that might burst. They see a bubble that has the opportunity to grow. I could easily be wrong. But all of this could possibly be new blood getting attracted to the hobby.
  5. What the?!?!?! Fixed that for you... @Buzzetta
  6. Someone once asked me why I collected a run of Amazing Spider-man and do not collect X-Men. The answer is because I do not want to stay up that late. One time I made it to #1 and bought a copy of that... after that... g'night.
  7. USPS Registered Mail I do not know where you are located but here around the NYC and Long Island area we have been experiencing an already questionable service from Fed Ex. Even before the pandemic, drivers were signing for packages themselves and leaving them on the wrong doorstep or they would sometimes mysteriously disappear. Bob Storms had remarked the same with comic books. When it came to my dad, they botched the delivery of his medication. With USPS Registered mail there is a chain of command. Have I heard of screw ups? Yes, but nothing to the magnitude that Fed Ex has screwed up. Fed Ex drivers routinely sign for packages themselves (this went on even before the pandemic) and at that point you HOPE they leave it on the right doorstep. I have noticed that during this pandemic, that the USPS carriers will at least ring the bell, step back and verify the person that they are releasing custody of the package to. Fed Ex is the worst. I would not trust them with the book if given the option. USPS Registered mail at the highest tier possible to protect your investment at that price level. Also, keep in mind that mail delays will be with us for quite some time as part of the nation's numbers are high during a pandemic and even more people have gravitated toward online shopping.
  8. I was once told to do something similar when a book of mine was graded incorrectly. The book neglected an obvious defect and the label stated a qualifier that did not exist.
  9. Part of me really wants to think that Bitcoinswami is really Harshen coming to the boards incognito to mess with everyone.
  10. So what's next? More X-Men? Another subset?
  11. I think with the way this book is going that even if that book turns to have something crazy going on with it that it comes to a 8.0 that within a year money can be made off of it.
  12. In all seriousness did you get them all slabbed with the Carnage label as well?
  13. Here... I am listening to Mike Delguidice put on his Wednesday night show while I meal prep. Time to start cutting. https://fb.watch/2zGtO2KK1E/ https://www.facebook.com/mikedelguidiceofficial/videos/428544414998065
  14. I bought this over the summer... my first Archie innuendo cover. Archie "69" - "read how Archie treats his women rough"
  15. Don't hold your breath. I had a question for Red Rocks and I found and asked it of him over Instagram. I am still waiting for a response.
  16. Apparently I am making Christmas 'weird' I've got a legacy / vintage collection BMF Falcon... maybe there should be a wreath...
  17. Don't They used some pretty weak glue all around when it came to those cards. I just sold my Freefall Club figure that was packed away without issue. The glue dried out after only a couple of years and the bubble was cleanly separated from the card as if no glue had ever been placed on top. When I looked around, I found it was a common problem. So I would not recommend it. If you are doing it for 'you'. If you ever decide to sell the sealed set people might think you were monkeying around with carded figures and it could put all of your other listings under suspect. I would leave it as is or make it slightly obvious that they are re-glued.
  18. If you have never opened a sample of this set before... be careful when you open it... don't lose the bullet. There is a single bullet that pops out of the ammo container and that might be the most easily lost piece in all of GI Joe... Don't lose the bullet.
  19. Take X-Men 1 B NM Gatefold for $1 - I have not owned a copy in almost 20 years... why not.
