  1. WF 20 Nic claimed it first... drover was a close second... I came in a distant third... Oh well... there are others...
  2. I thought I had already outlined something but I could not find it. Then I thought I was imagining it.
  3. I know that there are lines in the user agreement which releases them from individual culpability should things fall apart. Now the model is created so that if one were to engage in some malfeasance, it would leave a doorway open for things to fall apart with investors holding the bag. As far as hearing what I have found I have no problem further asking them questions to see if they respond this time with something other than, I am welcome to call them to further discuss it.
  4. People like to poke the bear. Every scammer did not think they would be caught until they did. Every scammer thought that they would find a way to float under the radar until they were caught. Rally Rd is no different. You look at it and believe it to be a realization of an idea that you had. I actually can appreciate that. I look at it for the scam it is.
  5. To the thought that today's moderns are garbage. I have changed my opinion on a lot of this. The variant thing is a little too self manufactured for my tastes... However... When Action 1, Bat 1, Tec 1 and Superman 1 became out of reach for the common collector, the common collector looked at the next big thing such as Silver Age Marvel like AF 15, FF 1, ASM 1 and so on. When AF 15, FF 1, ASM 1 and so on because out of reach for the common collector, the common collector looked at the next big thing such as books like TMNT 1, Hulk 181 and so on. When TMNT 1, Hulk 181 and so on became out of reach for the common collector, the common collector looked at the next big thing like BA12, NM98, ASM 300 and so on. As books move up, the collecting community looks at what the next big thing is and hope to get in on the ground floor. We are seeing it with some of the Star Wars books, 1st RiRi, and so on... As far as fractional ownership. I have yet to see where this model that rally rd has crafted cannot lead to malfeasance of invested funds.
  6. There are many things that they are doing that should cause alarm. Now I readily admit that at the going rate that certain books trade hands that collectables at a certain level are investment pieces. However, this is a scam pure and simple. No, I am not going to publicly lay out how they can easily scam people. Why publicly post a guidebook? However, I will reach out to them again as a prospective investor and ask a few questions to see what their responses are. There are way too many issues here and after going through their user agreement and terms, I can see gaping holes in using them if they decide to make a few decisions regarding what they are doing with their collectables.
  7. Isn't that how most scams work? Now, I do not think that Valiant is trying to scam the boards. I do however, see Rally Rd and other models like it as an easy method to defraud investors and the collecting community. It is ripe with ill opportunity.
  8. Waiting on a number of things. There is no rhyme nor reason as to why I am waiting for some rather than others. Orders using priority shipping are stuck in transit while items ordered before that and sent first class have already arrived. After some of the Disney announcements I bought a number of copies of a certain book up. It was a hit or miss as some of those that were sent via media and first class were already received. (Seriously). My priority packages are all delayed and the only priority package I received on time came from a board member in MA. It makes no sense... So here it what I surmise. It does not depend on what class service you paid for. It does not matter the location. California first class arrived sooner than Maryland first class. I believe it has to do with how overwhelmed a specific hub or point of origin is. That could do with staffing among many other factors. Package 1 Ordered November 29 Estimated Delivery Date January 13 Where is it? Stuck at point of origin Sent via first class Package 2 Ordered December 9 Estimated Delivery Date December 14 Where is it? Out for Delivery today. Sent via priority Package 3 Ordered December 10 Estimated Delivery Date December 14 Where is it? Sent from Maryland and moved to one PO in MD where it currently resides Sent via first class Package 4 Ordered December 10 Estimated Delivery Date December 26 Where is it? Sent from California and Out for delivery here on Long Island Sent via Media Mail Package 5 Ordered December 14 Estimated Delivery Date December 19 Where is it? Sent from Illinois and... still in Illinois Sent via Priority Package 6 Ordered December 14 Estimated Delivery Date December 17 Where is it? Sent from Maryland and moved to one PO in MD where it currently resides Sent via Priority Package 7 Ordered December 22 Estimated Delivery Date December 26 Where is it? Out for delivery sent from SC to NY Sent via first class
  9. I’ll take, “hiding something for $200, Alex.”
  10. I am pretty well set with my retirement... which is why, despite debating when I wake up in the morning if today is the day they are going to find me on the floor with a smoking gun in one hand and a note in the other that reads, "I told you so", I stick with it. (kidding) I just have to put up with the nonsense I do for another 9.5 years then I am out and can do what I want. I love what I do, I hate who I work for... yes, it is 'that' bad.
  11. When they made their presentation to the public, I questioned them on a few things. I alluded to one of the scams and they said that if I wanted to discuss it I could contact them so I would be assured that they were totally legit. Like I said, there are two very easily run scams under an operation such as this.
  12. I don't buy $1000 Spider-man variants either. As I said, I did my own research into the company and can easily see a couple of ways to to easily screw over every participant while they walk around with a smile on their face thinking the world is great.
  13. Knowing how my friend screwed his ex-wife out of their house after they were divorced, I see the thing you allude to as a vehicle for disaster. The same scam that he applied to their house could easily be applied to shares of a comic book or the fractional investing of any collectable SEC regulated or not.
  14. I see a few defects that should press right out of that Iron Man if the pages are not stuck together. Like he said... could get you around $200-250.
  15. We have agreed on quite a bit actually. Also on the stuff we disagree with does not make me consider you a lunatic or a pain in the rear.
  16. I wait for the scan every time for this reason. The benefits of pre-printing are the PayPal and eBay discounts when selling and the expediency, as well as the possibility of the postal clerk making an error when punching in a zip code to calculate postage. However, I wait for the scan no matter what. I cannot control what happens after that but at least I know the USPS bears some responsibility once it is accepted in their system.
  17. I am with you on this. There are many reports about how online shopping increased during the quarantine. Now out of the number of people that gravitated toward online shopping for everything from clothes to food, it is predicted that a substantial amount will continue to utilize online shopping for things that they previously did not buy online. They were forced to discover the convenience. I believe that this is true with comic books and other collectables as well. It's not a big secret that some around here get comped or heavily discounted badges for NYCC and other events. As I have mentioned, I don't think I would go if I had to pay full price for that show. I definitely would not go for all four days. I do believe that we will see an increase in online collectable purchases as people will realize that going to a con and spending all that time and money for all of those expenses are not worth it to read up on information they are interested in, that the book that might be hanging on that wall can be found at several auctions throughout the year. I always preferred Comiclink and other sites over negotiating the floor of the con and hoping to find something I am looking for. I mean, two weeks ago, I got it in my head that I wanted a book and I negotiated a price for two books over on Reece's website. Why would I want to spend a couple of hundred just to walk through the door to do the same? Then there were promoters and dealers... my lord. Nobody took advantage of this pandemic like Hasbro. I don't expect them to ever do the con schedule like they used to. They already pulled out of NYCC around eight years ago and I don't see them ever having the presence that they once did at SDCC. They have been hosting live stream after livestream and have had reveals across all of their brands on social media. Mondays have become 'Mando Mondays" where they reveal new Mandalorian product every Monday. GI Joe has had it's own presentations as had Power Rangers and Transformers. When you look at the attendance of those streams as well as the participation, there are more people watching there than at Hall H. And then at the end of the presentation, they are led to Hasbro Pulse or directed toward other retailers to make the purchases that they were just introduced to. That Razor Crest sale was quite successful. It was the most successful Haslab product released so far and there is no doubt that it has to do with the new model of presentation and advertising that Hasbro switched to due to the pandemic. It worked, it was successful and I believe it is here to stay.
  18. I believe in keeping a certain amount of "<spoon> you" money in the bank. So if it comes to spending money on a comic or stock or going into that rainy day fund, I will maintain the rainy day fund. I was shocked to find out that I needed that roof after paying what I did for the bathroom. I overpaid a corporation to do the bathroom as private contractors did not want to do a job within the village under village oversight and codes. However, that money that I had where I could have bought a five figure book or my Superman 14 that I covet was part of that rainy day fund in case I needed a home repair or something all of a sudden.
