Interesting eBay question... I bought five books from a comic seller on eBay. He messages me that the four of the five books are "out of stock" and is issuing me a refund for the four out of five books. The fifth book was a $5 add on that I saw and said, "why not" and threw it in the basket. I asked the comic seller to cancel the fifth book as it was merely an add on and I was primarily interested in the four books that he says are, "out of stock"... Side note... the four books that are, "out of stock" sold for 3x the value since I bought them from other sellers. Whether or not that comes into play is unknown. Seller has only refunded me the money for the four books that he is out of stock and has not responded to my request to cancel the fifth book. What steps if any would the gracious public of comics general suggest? If I have to 'eat' this purchase then I will suck it up... but this kind of twists me.

WONDER WOMAN 2 directed by Patty Jenkins (11/1/19)
Buzzetta replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
It's not as bad as people are making it out to be. Was I entertained? I was entertained. I've seen people saying it is 'political' Nah... I did not see it as a political rehash of anything to be honest. It was written by Jenkins and Geoff Johns... right there you know you are getting a comic book scribe... I don't think the reviewer's 'get it'. So we are seeing a comic book adaptation of the 80's. When you think of the 80's what do you think of? Russia vs the United States Arms race nuclear weapons TV evangelism "Wall Street" / Gecko / Greed is Good. The materialism So all of that is on front display. That does not make it political. It clutters the plot a bit, but it does not make it political. It's a basic comic adaptation of the monkey's paw tale, and they straight up tell you this in the narration of the plot. I honestly felt that people looking for a political message will find one. But, it's straight up a reflection of the caricature of the 80's. Plot: It was busy at times. One of my friends on Facebook said that it was crowded and she even went as far to say that Pedro Pascal's part could have easily been cut out. I didn't see that. I felt that all four leads were essential to the plot. They all had a part and if you take out Pascal's part then Wiig is not the tragic villain that she becomes and is more of a one on one I want power thing. I thought that by adding Pascal's character there was an extra layer to the motivation of all of the characters. Did I like it? I watched it. I don't think I would have paid to see it but I watched it. To be fair, at this point, I don't think I will be going to the theaters as much anymore even after all of this has ended*. (Side note at the end)... I actually liked it more than the first one as I always felt the ending of the first one was a shadow of Captain America, with Jenkins even recently saying that the ending was forced upon her by the studio. Here we have an "original story" in superhero lore. I thought Kristin Wiig was well cast in this role and like seeing studios throwing her some opportunity. She was one of the most talented cast members of her class during her SNL days. Gal Gadot shines. The mid credits scene was charming and I hope we see more of that wayward Amazonian whose armor they used. 3/5 * Maybe it was the show or maybe it is because my living room is not equipped for movie surround sound. I felt the sound mixing was a bit crowded at the end of the film when it is just Gadot and Pascal in the final sequence. Maybe the movie was not mixed well for HBO Max and we heard the 'theater mix'. If that is the case I liked being home because for that once sequence I instantly put on the subtitles to see what the dialogue was at certain elements of the sound were 'crowded.' Again though...wasn't bad. Give it a chance.- 1,311 replies

@kav you would have liked this station too. WLIR was the first station to play bands like the Smiths, U2, The Cure, Depeche Mode... interesting documentary on how the producers would actually infuriate record labels by flying in new music and playing it before it was legally licensed for play in the United States. documentary was on showtime? Dare to be different...

Great question... It's not so much a ceiling as a shift in focus. It's not about how much money the new blood has but where they are focusing that money. We raise our eyebrows when books like ASM 300 takes a jump. That book takes a jump because many in the new blood look at some of the other books as out of reach. So what do they do? They go after obtainable books. As more gravitate toward a copy of ASM 300 with the mindset that the boat has sailed on a copy of ASM 1, they pour money into that. That's what is pushing a lot of the first appearances of these modern characters through the roof. People are paying the same amount for a ASM 300 in 9.8 that you could have bought an ASM 1 in 4.5 back in 2014-2015. The new blood is pushing up the values on B and C level characters because the A level books are out of reach. More books are entering into the Saudi Prince territory. Someone is buying them. But why is 1st Terry McGuinness / Batman Forever going for so much? Because so many people feel they missed the boat on 1st Harley Quinn. When I paid $30 for my copy in 2015 it was considered a lot. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur? That is a $200+ book in a CGC 9.8. It is hard for people to ignore this kind of stuff. As the new blood see what came before them, they are shifting their focus and other books that we would normally dismiss are increasing in value. But again, as far as who is paying the big prices? I suspect really really really rich people that believe this stuff is going to go up even further or have BSD money. I am curious to see what the Batman 1 in 9.4 goes for and would love to know who the buyer is. -

I don’t think I’m on broken broom handle duty. Tomorrow though if I remember I will definitely reach out to them again to challenge them on some things. If I do I will let you know what they say or if they block me. -

Yes, it felt like Acclaim... felt like there were big things coming and then the car slammed into the guardrail. I was picking up anything to do with the Eternal Warrior as I have always enjoyed the character both in the current and future timelines. Then appearances became sporadic and my LCS owner stopped ordering a majority of the valiant titles due to some inconsistency and it has now fallen off the radar for me. Bought some cool art though and two EW covers... so at least I have that going for me... which is nice. -

Apparently we had already laid out all the various issues in the other thread anyway so it is a moot point. In the meantime, I have to paint the trim. -
