  1. That's not how the scores are tallied though. I add up the absolute value of the difference in grade for each individual book. I just compared the numbers on your graph and they do not match up as to how I am keeping track. Each person's score for each individual book is Absolute Value of the (Actual Grade - Guessed Grade). Then add up all of the absolute values. Lowest score wins. So I made a mock table showing how the two lead to differences in placing. In your tally Ringo wins. In my tally John wins. The reason why I do it that way so that it balances out the score in case someone believes a book depreciated from the pre CGC grade.

    AUUGH

I sold an Avengers 8 for around $450 iirc in 8.0. I had bought it the year before for $100 raw so I was pleased with the sale. I would obviously be more pleased today but sometimes this stuff happens. I used the money to buy other things. Think of the guy that bought a Tec 27 when it was first on the stands and traded it to his friend at school. Lol
  3. Ha - I am glad that you are here to play again five years later ! Only reason I remembered was because I had to find the old thread in the forum to remember how I even organized and ran the whole thing.
  4. Well since you said you were donating it... $350 set is pretty generous
  5. I just checked... you won in 2015 https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/378816-buzzettas-third-annual-guess-the-grade-contest-results/page/5/
  6. All I am saying is that they all came back universal Thank you PGX for not screwing that up btw.
  7. Tell you what... go ahead and if you win, I will make sure it gets added with my Toys For Tots Donation.
  8. The Books: Book 1 - Amazing Spider-man 23 - Formerly a CGC 7.5 (Submitted my favorite Ditko cover to get a press and be placed in the Spider-man CGC label - this was my definite keeper) Book 2 - Captain America Comics 45 (Formerly a PGX 4.5 - now added to the GA Locomotive Collection) Book 3 - Batman 40 (Purchased off the boards last year as a VG / 3.5) Book 4 - Crime Suspenstories 15 (Purchased off eBay as a 5.0) Book 5 - Superman 25 (Purchased from Heritage as a raw 5.0 as the book had been cracked open. The old label was included in the sale) Book 6 - Fantastic Four 48 (Formerly a New Label 6.0) Book 7 - Dell 596 (Sold to me on eBay as a raw "Good - for this contest we will call it a 2.5)
  9. I have not done one of these in years. After doing a bathroom and now stripping the roof off to put another one up, I almost said no. But... it's a pandemic year and we don't have one of those too often... So... when life gives you a pandemic, make pandemicade. Guess the new grades and you win a prize. If no one participates... then ... okay... figured I would revive the old grading contest. Prizes: One price will be drop shipped from Amazon. That will be the Lego set because they get heavy to ship. Let Amazon take on that burden. So Lego set, Funko Pop... As of now, there are two prizes. Last time I did this there were a total of two prizes and as more people entered I threw in more things and I will be doing the same thing this year. First place will have an overall pick of whatever is in the prize field. Second place will have next pick in whatever is left in the prize field and so on if there are other prizes offered. About the books: Earlier this year, I submitted a mix of ten raw and graded books to CGC. First though, all books were pressed by Joe and then were submitted under my account. He does not know the grades. I am the only one that knows the grades of the books. Even though I submitted ten books there were duplicates so I am only using seven of those books for this contest. All books came back universal blue. Rules: POST YOUR GRADES IN THE THREAD !! NO EDITING ! SANTA SEES YOU ! Contest is open to USA addresses only. Sorry everywhere else... HOS and Probation People are disqualified and problem children. If you see something, say something. Your entry should be what you think the new grade is. If you think that Comic "A" graded out to a 5.5 then your entry would read Comic A - 5.5 "Closest" will be defined as each viable grade that CGC awards and how close you are by the number of points away from that book regardless of if you overgraded or undergraded. If someone accurately predicts all six books, then the contest ends and I will throw some other stuff in the box. You only get one entry so make it count. - They are recorded so don't change them. If there is a tie, I first look at bullseyes. If there is a tie with that then the first entrant to submit scores wins. Contest ends 11:59 PM EST on December 12th, 2020. I am including a sample of what my scoresheet looks like so you can see how I score... where the lowest score wins.
  10. True story. My grandfather (father's father) looked like Waldorf.
  11. They are not for sale anyway... I am keeping them in a box for a couple of years to see if the X-Men rumors are true and Beaker finds himself in the MCU.
  12. No... You weren't here when I did the last one... I think this is the fifth contest. You will see the rules when it is finally posted.... but what I would do is the winner would get things like a SW lego set, funko pops, things like that... What I can do this time that I could not in other years is use my Amazon Prime account to buy it on amazon and enter the winner's address as the shipping address and have it delivered straight to them. Shipping a $25 Lego set to California that weighs in at 3lbs can be almost $16 extra dollars and is kind of annoying when it is a $25 lego set.
  13. I am actually typing it up now... I realized I can drop ship things from Amazon to the winners homes.
  14. Okay... I’m ready to pimp my books as my annual just arrived from Europe. Should I post the first muppets question in bronze or modern?
  15. Something tells me that this thread may not end well. I might tag @Bosco685 and share a bag of popcorn as we sit back and watch. Doesn't seem to be much on TV or at the movies these days... so this could be entertaining.
  16. - I figured that you might say that... however, this morning when I watched I was surprised it was obliterated in the way it was. I am curious to see what Mando ends up with for his next ride. The barge is an outlier to this because it was one of the few vintage vehicles that everyone always wanted that they never made. There were a lot of guys reporting that they bought it just to put vintage figures on it... which... I have to admit is one of the few reasons I have not opened it ... that and space. As far as iconic ships in the modern era that is a great point. Closest things I can think of, but are not near the popularity of the Razor Crest is the Naboo Starfighter due to the elegance of the design. There is one ship that I would have easily bought though. That is the GHOST from Rebels. This was the equivalent of a WWII bomber. I believe that there is a very strong market for a Hasbro version of that ship based on aftermarket Lego sales and the number of Hasbro scale customs.
  17. I might have a grading contest... thinking of it. 10 books came back after being pressed and graded.
  18. Sooooooo.... today's episode of the Mandalorian... @fantastic_four
  19. There are a LOT of kids collecting Funko Pops. That might disturb a lot of comic collecting adults but...
