  1. Where is the best place to start pimping my book and raising hype? I’m at a loss because usually this would be done in the modern section of the boards and clearly this book that arrived today is from 1979.
  2. Let that sink in. Didn't we used to have a thread of quotes from board members taken out of context? @BlowUpTheMoon
  3. A lot of comics were still purchased in 7-11, Waldenbooks, Newstands and other mall book stores. So, I would say around an 8.0-8.5 Books that were bought in comic stores, I would suspect to be a 9.2. Many criticize CGC but they did shift the scale making the traditional overstreet grading to appear kind of soft.
  4. And for political posts when there isn't any politics involved in the post. @kav Oh and most of us are in zoom right now... we are having a meeting on something that could have been an email ... I actually posted a picture of myself in my office... as I do things around the house and BS on the boards. Only one coworker has noticed.
  5. Interesting... I seem to remember a version of this that came with a taxi cab.
  6. I am not a mod. Let's not start that conversation unless you all want me to get 4-500 messages from @kav within the next 24 hrs. I have no problem putting this stuff together. However, depending on what you are going for, you would want many accounts from various people that have had similar experiences as well as demonstrating that there is a pattern of wrongdoing.
  7. I believe Dena when she mentioned that deletion of the NYComics complaint was unintentional as they seemed thoroughly surprised by it themselves. However, in the past, Desert Wind threads have disappeared or been locked. However, I can say I have personally seen emails sent to board members where the level of unprofessionalism, passing the blame, shadiness, and other finer traits coming from Desert Wind would astound you. There are many with a similar story.
  8. I do not determine whether something is HOS or PL. Someone says, "Do a write up" and I do the research and the write up. Something like Desert Wind ... that might take more research than usual as it is not a single event but a culmination of a few instances dating back several years. If people want to start PMing me public anecdotes that they are aware of that would speed things up. Then I have everything put together and once it is determined what course of action the forum wants to take, then it is ready to go with one course or the other. I have a 2pm meeting to get ready for... then another at 2:20 and then a few after that. Lovely day. It's a lovely day.
  9. I had this window open from last night as I am zoom zoom zooming the day away and heard the alert. CGC has traditionally been protective of Desert Wind. However, that is irrelevant as people talk on the side and see things for themselves. I have seen enough to know never to send anything to them. I have advised friends off the boards never to send anything to them under any circumstances... and I know from witnessing the experiences of several board members never to send anything to them.
  10. As the what I think is the first Muppets in a US publication / comic book magazine AND The fact that it was a Marvel publication who now under the same umbrella as the Muppets... I could not pass those up at around $10 shipped each. I remember jumping on the 1st Smurfs when that could still be bought for under $50 an issue. So... why not..
  11. The Child is headed to the International Space Station. https://www.businessinsider.com/spacex-nasa-astronauts-launched-baby-yoda-doll-crew-dragon-spaceship-2020-11
  12. After hearing that another board member had some luck and needing to go to Target to buy something, I hit up the local train station flea market to kill time for a half hour. I took this in as a rescue.
  13. Crazy 57? Produced in the US by Marvel in 1979.
  14. I got this instead... This and the Treehouse are staying boxed until I redo the office.
  15. Yeah... I felt the same... I kept passing it up and when I saw it on Amazon on sale it was 'now or never'... It was when I thought I would buy Mos Eisley... It's actually a neat little set and I am glad I picked it up. It's one of those sets that people will regret now picking up once it is retired.
  16. Not necessarily ... It's also called maintaining a presence. I forget if you are here in the Northeast... I think so... How many Chevy Tahoes do you think Chevy was able to see at NYCC? They went there and rented a LOT of space to show off their new vehicles painted up with Valiant characters on the sides and hood. They weren't selling vehicles and I would guess the cost of that setup was a total loss compared to the number of vehicles sold at the event. However, the advertising was tremendous given the foot traffic at the show. People were checking the cars out and I bet you that a number of them kept it in mind the next time they went looking for a new truck. People don't necessarily use eBay to sell directly over. They prefer to use it as advertising space while slyly directing people to visit them someplace else if they want it at a discount. If they sell it over on eBay it will come at a higher cost. Such is life.
  17. I would have called them directly or gone through their website. More wiggle room. But I have to be honest here, guys like MCS, Anthony's Comic Art, Reece and the rest of the dealers that advertise on eBay are basically using eBay as an advertising space with the idea that you will visit their website directly for a discount upon your next purchase (instead of eBay) or with that very listing. A guy who used to do some heavy selling here said that is why he would put as much contact information in the header on the eBay shop as possible without running afoul of the eBay rules. I would have contacted them over the website or directly instead of dealing with eBay and save some cash.
  18. Mitch raises a really good point. Why bother even asking MCS on a book like that? If I am spending 5 figures on a book I am buying the grading notes to see what it is all about from the graders themselves. Graders notes would have more information than MCS can offer.
