  1. And here I am worrying if I am ever too much trouble with people... That's balls... I can't... I honestly just can't...
  2. @The Lions Den will appreciate this one... I have heard... which in itself might be third hand information from who told me this, that someone once took a 1.0 copy of a book that was in rough shape with a notation of top edge trimmed with amateur CT that was seen around the top logo. Since a blue .5 was worth more than a purple trimmed copy, the story goes that they tore off half of the cover on the book to eliminate the CT and trimmed edge top edge and resubmitted it as "remaindered." People do ridiculous stuff.
  3. Found out later on it is a SDCC exclusive. People are already paying $75 + as of this afternoon on eBay.
  4. So in a related story, The overhang / old school soffit over my front door needs work done. It is at least 50 - 60 years old and when it was repaired once under my grandmother's tenure as owner. The guy that fixed it for her did not use pressurized wood and after it was "fixed" around ten years ago, it has buckled. I wanted it done correctly and up to today's standards. So I had a guy recommended to me came by. I asked him what he would do and he described how he would build it. He took measurements, he gave me a price and I agreed. He said he would get back to me with a price and the do it in the next couple of weeks if we agreed. After a week I left a voicemail if he had arrived at a quote. He texted me on October 6th as shown below. I committed the money and time to this guy to do the job. Well, here we are on October 29th. Last week I had reached out two more times and I have not heard from him. He has not returned my call. We are approaching what is to be a cold winter and I wanted this done beforehand. This week I have been trying to find someone to do a job, but I cannot get anyone that: Is willing to work on a house in the village. Wants to do the job. Can do the job before the winter. Am I out any money? No But this guy has effectively screwed me over. It has been raining all day and it has buckled out some more. So, yeah, I will tell me doctor that his friend has disappeared and while I am not going to make a post specifically about him no showing, I will keep an eye out on the village message board if anyone recommends him. Because if they do, I will mention that I am still waiting for him to do the work that we agreed to. If he was never going to do the work, he should have told me and I would have moved on to someone else. So what's the purpose of this post? If you say you are going to do something and you flake, you go on the PL until you make it right.
  5. Anyone want to take a chance? I believe that this was supposed to be some type of con exclusive... possibly D23 or SDCC so it's a leeeeeemited edition. https://www.amazon.com/tt/webview. (Treasure Truck) (Ships to you) LEGO Marvel Avengers Taskmaster's Ambush Black Widow Set It is limited to one per customer at $39.99. I already ordered mine. If there is no money in it... then I will just return it. But the last con exclusive was the target Bespin duel at about the same price point and that is currently around $100 on eBay. It says early access but again, the box art is comic book like... that's usually the con exclusive box and not a box made for general retail. It also features the vignette base which is something Lego usually includes in the exclusives. At $40 it is pricy at 230 parts so that is another reason I believe this to be limited edition. If I am wrong and this appears everywhere? Take it to Kohls and return it.
  6. I completely shake my head at this, but can kind of see some of the reasoning. This is kind of the same thing as when people have: Taped a 1940 book with a tear in 2010 to get a grade bump scratched away half a cover exposing white raw paper to remove color touch leaving the book to look like a Dalmatian considered tweezing out chunks on the edge of a trimmed cover so it would now be considered blue label with marvel chipping There have been others
  7. To be fair, they put a well known guy in the hobby on the HOS. Robert Beerbohm was nominated and sent into the Hall of Shame... So... it has happened in the past and the rules do apply for all if the gauntlet is thrown.
  8. Locking this. Thanks to all who participated and made their voices heard.
  9. I think you should test that theory for at least two years.
  10. That's fine for you... but as I have stated, I just walk on by any thread where they are asking for a personal check for anything above a certain threshold. And I know that there are others that do the same. I am not just dipping my toes in the comic waters, I am also going through vintage toys, legos, action figures and things like that. I've also seen too many people in other areas of get screwed over when something goes south because there was not that protection. So... I walk. Because at the end of the day, if I am buying a $2000 item, and I paid by personal check and the item gets lost in the mail, I don't really trust anyone to 'do the right thing'. That could be someone's mortgage payment. That could be what keeps them afloat for the next month. So I would prefer to pay that extra $60 some odd dollars to make sure that I have that protection. If I am spending $2000 then an extra $60 is a small price to pay to make sure things work out.
  11. Then raise the price of the item to incorporate fees so you clear what you want after the fees are deducted. I have passed on books here over a certain price because people wanted a check or F&F. In fact, over the summer was the first time in years that I sent out a money order for a book because it was something I wanted under $100. I figured worse case scenario I am out $75 or whatever it was. But no, sellers should figure out the fees to incorporate it into the price.
  12. They aren’t banned. One HOS member still lurks. He is just smart enough to not post. I assume he continues to try and do deals here through PM. The last time two people outed him. Enough time has passed that newer members might not realize that he is persona non grata.
  13. At this point if anyone wants to do the research and click the links associated with PL members they can get an idea of what is PL worthy. The previous cases have set precedent for what is PL worthy and HOS worthy.
  14. That’s below my pay grade. This isn’t HOS worthy.
  15. There is also the idea of missed opportunity. Imagine this scenario. Let's make believe that I am looking for a ASM 300 in a 9.6. That was basically a $1000 book a month ago. Let's make believe that I take a look and see: Seller A has it for $1000 Seller B has it for $1000 There is an auction ending where it will land at around $1000 I decide as a buyer to commit to purchasing the book from Seller A. A few weeks go by and seller A has not shipped the book out. He has not cashed my check either. Seller A comes back and says that for whatever reason, I am not getting the book. By that time, Seller B has sold his book. The auction is over and the book has sold for $1000. It is now a month later. That $1000 book is now selling for $1600. So yeah, the buyer is kind of at a loss here. He has lost opportunity and in a way that buyer's money was tied up because he had committed to dedicating those funds to that particular purchase. Now, to prove that there is an issue of overt wrongdoing on the seller's end you would have to find evidence that he had no intention of selling the book. Because if he had let you know from the beginning you would have looked for that book someplace else.
  16. Oh no problem at all... I think that the closest 'toy' falcon that I have ever seen to be in scale to its figures would be the $800 Lego Falcon. The Legacy / Disney Falcon is definitely a little on the small side as can be seen by the door at the back of the cockpit. It is designed for figures that might be 2.75" in height and not 3.75" in height. However, it really is an amazing ship and a little detail like that can easily be ignored given the size of the thing. It really is more of a playset than a "swooshable" vehicle and makes an excellent display piece. I really have to take out the BMF AT-AT... That thing is equally as impressive. This might be the excuse I need...
  17. I actually own the Galaxy Edge Falcon its first incarnation upon its release in 2010 and currently have it on display in the basement. Back then it was nicknamed the Legacy B.M.F. Falcon... heh (do a google search, I am serious, that it was it is named). I found a comparison shot that someone else took between the classic Kenner mold and the BMF Falcon... It REALLY is much bigger given the scale of it all. I mean, four figures easily fit in the cockpit. I also included a link to Rebelscum where you can see a full gallery of the full features of the toy. If I ever were to sell everything off, it is one of the last things that would leave my possession. It really is worth it and if I did not already have the 2010 release I would find a way to get the Galaxy Edge version. BTW the only real difference between the Galaxy Edge and Legacy versions is that the Galaxy Edge version has an updated wash, stronger LED lights, different pack in figures, and a different soundboard that is always 'on'. The switch on the Legacy version turns the sounds on or off. The switch on the Galaxy Edge version switches between the Legacy sounds and the Disney theme ride features. 18. I was saying something similar to myself. Someone posted that there was a one and done Target coupon out there that was usable on the $400 Falcon. At $300 I said... maybe worth it to track it down and stash a couple for future resale. When I did a search to see where I could find one... I noticed something on the Falcon. Some locations said, "Out of Stock" and other said, "This store is not carrying this product." Out of around ten local targets across Long Island only two stores, "Medford" and "Westbury" were carrying it, (out of stock). I wonder if the numbers are lower since not every store is carrying some of the product. Or maybe that's just with a $400 toy since it is a higher risk.
  19. Totally agree... It looks like they used the beaten and bloody version seen at the end of last season. Head definitely looks squished... I am hoping they clean it up a bit.
  20. And of course the Target 6" deluxe exclusive version is all about bye bye
