  1. Received 8/15... Still in receiving... I have more to send down but not until I get more back.
  2. Meanwhile, are we all going to ignore the fact that Bill Murray, in his Peter Venkman guise, is considered a Doctor? Because it would make a lot of sense. Those are pretty cool. Originally I thought those were sideshow. I am looking through the big chief stuff now on their website.
  3. This thread is losing focus. @wilbil Take it to PM if you want. I really don't care... This is a no win situation with you based on what I am learning about you by noticing old threads in coins. (I have a bunch of things that have been passed down the family from the late 1800's that might be worth grading and I have been trying to do some research.) It reminds me of a story of something that happened to me when I was 20/21. I was driving when this guy was driving erratically and weaving. I honked my horn when he weaved into my lane and almost hit my car. With that he sped in front of me and slammed on the brakes. I came within inches of rear ending him. Out of the car comes this old guy screaming who are you to honk me or something... My windows were down and he slapped me in the face. Now the thought of grabbing him crossed my mind. Then I realized, there was no win here. I take a slap to the face and the guy goes on his way OR a 20 year old gets charged for beating up an old man. I made my decision back then. Nothing good will come from beating on an old man. Be well John. Try to enjoy your time a little more. Write me later if you want to talk. I have paid work to attend to.
  4. You are so bizarre "John" (since we are apparently on a first name basis) Like I said, I live in your head rent free. Believe me when I say it is not intentional. It's not healthy for you to be thinking of me constantly. You are 71. You should be enjoying your time instead of constantly thinking some guy from New York is trying to irk you or is ruining the world with what you believe to be 'cancel culture' which is a phrase that you seem to be fond of. It's not healthy and perhaps it is something you need to sit back and think about as to why my mere existence seems to bother you so. I responded to what you said, "in principle......i would have wanted a complete independent 3rd. party review." ... Those were your words. You felt it was not necessary since it was "overwhelmingly clear the majority vote was cast for elevation to hos." But in principle that is what you felt you need. Well there you go, explained to you again. If I have misunderstood let me know. I am waiting for someone to log on.
  5. Forum rules have offered what constitutes an offense that is PL worthy and what is HOS worthy. I suggest you read them to gain an understanding as to why HOS and PL. The qualifications set up a specific example of selling a book and sending nothing of value in the package. Because Damato did the reverse, and pulled a return, and did not ship anything of value, it is HOS worthy. G2G... I have to go listen to and attend a conference call with the coworkers about when to set up scheduled meetings. That's right... a conference call for when to have a conference call. Yay..
  6. I don't have a lot of time right now and about ten minutes at most before I am on another call. Myself and another board member verified the weights of what a type 2 slab weighs in a 1092/1095 box. I can tell you from selling them that it weighs in with basic bubble at 1lb 15oz to 2lb 1oz. I made mention of that in the thread. Now when you speak of an independent 3rd party review, what exactly do you need? Should I ask if a Florida boardie can go and ask the USPS to calibrate their scales? Do you want to send someone here to my house to calibrate mine? If so, that is borderline insane which we clearly know you are not. So at that point, I think you just like to bust chops for no other purpose than that is how you spend your time. You are welcome to do this yourself. Buy a comic... something in the new holder and weigh it with some very basic bubble in a 1092/1095. Weigh it and it should come in at around 2.0. Wrap it well and put some packing peanuts on both ends and it comes to 2.1 and the USPS will let that 1oz slide most of the time if they know you. The guy did manual postage at the post office... he did not buy his postage online. The Florida post office, that Jason Damato used, weighed his package in at 1.27 pounds which. Catwomancomics used their scale and showed that the contents they received weighed the same. Those contents were minus the comic. So even if the Florida scale was off and the book was in fact returned, and Catwomancomics made the whole thing up... the contents minus the comic would not have weighed the same as the Florida post office scale. Damato did not send the book. Reply to your other message in a minute... I have a few more of those.
  7. Thanks. I just did that now and will tag you within a day after it closes.
  8. Please reserve your comment for the actual thread in Marketplace Probations. This thread is place in CG to make board members aware of the poll.
  9. So, are you saying that if he had done the same thing with coins that you would have come down harder on him? View it as a collectible...
  10. Didn't know I had a 'role'. You assume a lot. The last time I wrote one of these up I was told to post it in CG. But once again, I must live in your head rent free as you assume I have a 'role'.
  11. @crassus Should I post this as a separate thread in Comics General or are we good since the original thread was there?
  12. First, I have to thank @mrwoogieman for passing this estate sale information to me. I have never gone to anything advertised as an estate sale or things like this so I did not know what to expect. It turned out to be more of a garage sale with the way things were run, which I am guessing was due to current social distancing practices. I got there at 10am and there were people already looking over the high end Lego sets. Here is the thing, the more recent a lego set the more likely you are going to find a sealed copy of that set. All of these sets had the boxes and were taped shut with the all of the pieces and instructions supposedly inside. When it comes to newer Lego sets the pieces are often very exclusive to that set. Back in the 80's and 90's there were fewer variations and a smaller color palette. So... long story short... the risk is always high when it comes to buying opened lego sets from the past fifteen years. If the pieces are missing it is not likely that some of those pieces are always easy to find. On older sets though... the boxes are harder to find. The pieces are easier to source since Lego sets were a little more simplified. The value in the older sets are in the boxes. So... without being able to check the contents I paid for the sets knowing I was getting at east mostly complete sets, the instructions and the boxes. I peaked inside each of them. Worse case scenario if there was a piece missing, that part would be easy to replace. So... all this from the late 80's - very early 90's + the more recent Indiana Jones set for $45. I picked up any of these older sets that were on the table. I just finished checking the contents.... and true to the seller's words... all complete. Very pleased picking this up. Thanks again @mrwoogieman I also wound up hitting up two Targets, a Walmart and three comic shops while I was in the area. As far as comic shops, Picked up a NM 9.4/9.6 copy of Star Wars Kanan 1 for $20 at Fourth World Comics in Smithtown - You are not really finding GA or SA here but they have such a big selection. Picked up a NM copy of ASM 850 and 851 at Lost Planet Comics in Bayshore - very nice store for new stuff. Picked up ... nothing at Next Generation Comics & Cards in Islip Terrace since despite being advertised as being open... when I went by they were closed.
  13. To be honest, I was surprised at the three votes that Aliens got in support. If I had to weigh the two evils, I would think that Aliens would have been the "Mariano" given what he did.
  14. So you did not vote by the presented evidence... you voted by hope. It looks like he is the next member regardless.
  15. Jesuit? It would explain sooooooooooooo much. I was instructed by Marianists throughout HS... one step below the Jesuits on the scale... small step below..., but one step below nonetheless.
  16. 2.0. I see this as a bit lower... the spline split often knocks things down hard. There is already a lot of wear on the book to begin with.
  17. I've seen a 3.0 to be in that shape... I've also seen a 2.0... Split the difference at 2.5.
  18. PayPal friends and family is meant for friends, and family for things like your fantasy football league or if a friend of mine bought something for me at a local show and I have to transfer money to them. It is explicitly stated in the terms of service of PayPal that friends and family is not to be used for business transactions. In fact: You cannot ask for friends and family on a business transaction You cannot give a discount for using another form of payment when PayPal is provided as an option. You cannot charge a surcharge if customers are using PayPal (ex "add 3% if using PayPal Lately, I have heard of instances where PayPal has been going after people for doing this and either shutting down their account or taking away their ability to use friends and family. There was a guy on a GI Joe Facebook page that got shut down for adding 3% to the order after the fact if people wanted to use PayPal goods and services. A few people took screen shots and complained, notified PayPal and they also got the guy to leave the group or he left in his own shame. Let's also consider that there are quite a few artists that take their sweet time and don't always deliver the goods. Any time you commission a piece from an artist there should be some type of agreement as to the expectancy of the time frame for when the work will be done. If the artist cannot deliver within the time frame you can call PayPal to cancel the transaction as a last resort and retrieve your money. You cannot do that with friends and family. I ALWAYS walk away when someone insists on me to pay using friends and family. In one case it cost me a getting some things at a decent price. At another instance, the guy wound up scamming everyone. I would rather deal with someone who is a little more professional and knows how to build PayPal fees into the cost of the item rather than some facebook clown.
  19. I just edited that into the nomination. Thanks At this point, I am going to take a well deserved 3hr nap. I will be up around a little after midnight so I can do some digital paperwork and be ready for tomorrow morning... I will check in later...
  20. Written and posted..., I might edit a couple of things in that I might have forgotten... If I forgot something let me know... once a day has passed, I will post a link as a new topic in Comics General.
  21. I was asked to draft another one... (sigh) @Shoomanfoo is hereby nominated for the Hall of Shame AKA Jason Damato / Jason D'Amato / Jason DAmato Jason is accused of purchasing a comic in the sum of $525 shipped, initiating a return after receiving the book, then sending an empty slab back in return. The Hall of Shame was designed to point out those who have / may have committed serious violations within the comic community while using the CGC boards as a vehicle for those actions. In the rules for what type of transgressions qualify to be placed in the Hall of Shame instead of being placed on the probation list, the Hall of Shame rules differentiate between the two by using the example of, "The Hall Of Shame is for serious transgressions. For example, selling a book/books and sending nothing of value in the package. Interfering with someone's business. Being a multiple offender (Rule 5b)." Board member @Catwomancomics sold @Shoomanfoo a CGC graded copy of the Campbell edition of Black Panther 1 in a 9.8. Upon receiving the book, Shoomanfoo / Jason Damato filed a dispute through PayPal because Catwomancomics sent the book using signature confirmation. Shoomanfoo voiced his displeasure in this even stating that the return was initiated because, "If I have a problem and it bothers me to (sic) much I'm just sending it back to you." Please see screen shot of Shoomanfoo's word in his CGC board message to Catwomancomics in the spoiler below. Catwomancomics said that they would take the book back and apologized offering a full refund as seen in the screenshot below. Shoomanfoo instantly 'bro'd' Catwomancomics using derogatory references in the process as seen in the screenshot below form his message. As of now the tone of these messages are over Catwomancomics placing signature confirmation on a $525 item. Shoomanfoo immediately references returning this book to cancel the transaction over his view of 'inconvenience'. He makes this reference before actually receiving the book. Shoomanfoo then goes on to say that he will be accepting the book but then goes and initiates the return after this message anyway after later claiming the book came cracked. Upon returning the book, Catwomancomics claims that they received the hard plastic CGC holder and the label but the inner well and comic were not present. It is important to note that Jason received the comic by the very fact that he is initiating a return and later provided a picture of the book in his possession. Catwomancomics also provided evidence through screen shot of the postal receipt that a package was sent to Jason that weighed in at 2lbs. A CGC Type II holder packaged in a double boxed 1092 / 1095 USPS postal boxes typically weighs about 2lbs. Any board member can easily verify this. Below is a screen shot of the purchase order that Catwomancomics made to send the book to Shoomanfoo. Shoomanfoo took his package to the post office to return it to Catwomancomics. The Post Office weighed the package in at 1lb 2.7 oz. As pointed out in the original thread, no graded CGC comic in either holder weighs 1.27lbs. Therefore something is not present in the package Shoomanfoo returned that was present in the package that Cartwomancomics sent. A board member made a request to Catwomancomics to provide a specific picture. In order to remove suspicion from themselves that they removed the book from the slab, upon being asked, Catwomancomics took the contents of the package and the outer CGC holder and weighed them. This was demonstrated to correspond to the weight that the USPS put on the label. Please see the photo below. Images were taken to be used as evidence by the weights of the packages, that Shoomanfoo returned an empty slab to Catwomancomics. When asked repeatedly by forum members about the empty slab, Shoomanfoo would not address the claim. He did claim though that the book arrived damaged in a cracked slab and that was now the reason he was returning the book. Keep in mind that this claim is made after he had already said he would return the book while it was in transit. Here is an image shown by Jason, of the cracked slab. However, regardless of whether or not the slab is cracked, it does not explain nor account for the variance in weight. Even a cracked slab with the comic inside and placed in some form of cardboard package will weigh in at more than 1lb 2.7 oz. It should also be pointed out that: Catwomancomics claims that PayPal originally ruled against them but supposedly reversed the charges after being provided the photos. They also directed Catwomancomics to file a complaint with the FBI under their internet crimes reporting site to which they claim that they have. See link HERE Here is a screen shot of PayPal finding in Catwomancomics favor" What Shoomanfoo is being accused of is a serious offense and one that is not taken lightly. Again, he is nominated to the Hall of Shame as this is considered a more serious offense. The Hall of Shame uses an example of a serious offense as selling an item and not shipping the contents. The same theoretically holds true in reverse. If a return is made and the contents are not included, then that is also at the same level and is considered a serious offense. The evidence is here for you to make a decision as to whether or not this is Hall of Shame worthy. However, as another member pointed out, mail fraud and wire fraud are federal crimes in the United States that involve mailing or electronically transmitting something associated with fraud. Jurisdiction is claimed by the federal government if the illegal activity crosses interstate or international borders. There are two elements in mail fraud: (1) having devised or intending to devise a scheme to defraud (or to perform specified fraudulent acts), and (2) use of the mail for the purpose of executing, or attempting to execute, the scheme (or specified fraudulent acts). At this point, @Shoomanfoo is nominated to the Hall of Shame.
  22. I am almost done.... I write these things in my test thread.
  23. I am in the process right now in writing this all up. I did not forget. This stuff takes a little longer than people probably think.
