  1. Oppression or discrimination of any kind, let alone genocide, is usually in some way political.
  2. Want to throw fanboys into a frenzy - mention that you are considering making Professor X or Magento into people of color. - The insanity over this is head shaking. The only thing I do care about is when it comes to Magneto. I would like to see him retain his origin of being in a concentration camp as that is a major determining factor toward his world view and disconnect toward non-mutants. If not the holocaust then there needs to be something else that is comparable.
  3. Definite scam... I would recommend not opening such a message on your computer and not responding just block this right away

  5. Good find! Dreamworks Animation SKG is owned by NBC NBC also has a minority shareholding in Dreamworks (and Amblin) I would assume then that NBC owns Turok and the rest of the Gold Key characters. @Bosco685
  6. It depends... if I do something silently for someone I have no need to talk about what I did. A charitable organization is dependent upon donation or raising funding for their various projects. They need to show their contributors where the money goes and how effective it is in order to continue raising their money.
  7. I have gotten four chargebacks in the last 20 years of doing this for fun. It's not about the money I actually like doing this and everything about it is fun to me. I don't know what to tell you. I disagree by personal experience. Now maybe the rules or laws have changed since then. One case was the one I described above. I concede that you are correct and it is apples and oranges as "item not described" is different from "fraudulent use." Another case I lost. I lose as well. Not going to celebrate the victories on the boards without admitting to losses. A third case I won. Yes, it is possible to win a case of which you described. Maybe the buyer has done it too many times. I have no idea as they do not tell you specifics when you win. A fourth case was closed because the buyer apologized for what he did and initiated the closure himself.
  8. Totally disagree... Not only do you celebrate the past but you focus on those that will carry the future of the publication forward. She is a very strong character with a lot of potential. I wish I had bought her first appearances when I had the chance.
  9. Gotta get the right PayPal person. They do not like scammers these days. Item not as described means absolutely nothing in a case like the OP is talking about. Because at the end of the day, if the CSR smells something fishy they close it out on the seller's behalf. Now if the buyer had filed the claim within a more reasonable amount of time, they would most likely win. This chargeback was filed three months after the fact. Fight it. Fight it. Fight it some more. There is nothing to lose here and EVERYTHING to gain.
  10. Not particularly true. This is the last chargeback that was filed against me back in September of 2016. Buyer filed a chargeback that someone hacked their eBay address and bought an item to be shipped to a fraudulent address. It went through PayPal. While I sympathize with the buyer if their story is true there is no reason I should be penalized so I called, stated my claims in the matter. I do not know if she received her money back. All I know is that PayPal had my back and I kept the money from the sale. You would also be surprised the power that PayPal has over eBay. eBay handles the sale. PayPal handles the money.
  11. Then they are on the hook for $102.50 for the piece plus shipping.
  12. I am honestly guessing that the CSR doesn't care. She just wants to keep everyone happy especially since it was around 7:30 am in the Philippines when I called. However, if the item does not reach her or is held up in Kentucky, then eBay is on the hook to make it right to all parties. They refund the money to her and they also have to pay me for the piece as they are currently in possession of it. Anyone care to chime in as to how this works? I am guessing here based on the user agreement of GSP.
  13. Quick follow up to this... I just called eBay again for the customer. eBay tried to play a little game and suggest that sometimes a nation will not allow items of a certain value to enter their country. Here is the fun. I pointed out that the buyer purchased a similar item of similar value on the OTHER account I run AFTER the above purchase using GSP. In that time, the item has reached the buyer. I gave the item number of the other item from the other account. They out me on hold to speak to someone. heh heh,
  14. Sorry... Anyway... what is the big deal about just randomly calling them up or asking someone to look into them? And this is a serious question. How does eBay vet a charity to ensure that the charity's paperwork and claims are legitimate? What does it take to prove that it isn't?
  15. Notice I said 'to me'. Now granted, not every buyer for every page or comic for that matter has the time nor energy to monitor and sit for every auction. Sure there are pieces that are not bid on as heavily that make for great dealer stock. Every now and then when I am bidding in a comic auction I see a book that I know is a steal. I will grab it up and offer it over eBay which has most likely the biggest audience for comics. In fact, I just picked something up now from my mailing address that is going up on eBay in a little while. I am talking about pages of art though being flipped around a room.
  16. When a slab arrived cracked I had to send pictures of what the item sold for like a screen grab and pictures from the listing. I have only had to do it once. I am guessing that awarding the insurance claim has to also do with frequency of making claims. I don’t think they would award my claim if I had another occurrence in that year.
  17. I didn't even bother stopping at their table this past weekend. If the dealers are the ones buying and selling each other's prices thinking I chuckle. If I passed on that page for $2000 then I am certainly passing on that page for $3000. Moving it into a different area of the room does not equate a $1000 increase in value to me.
  18. When I think of impact I think about those who brought a particular style that many others tried to copy. When I think of living I think of those that are still drawing breath. (So Kirby is excluded) In no particular order... Romita Sr comes to mind as does McFarlane. They changed the Spider-man game. To this day, Romita and McFarlane's take on Spider-man is the inspiration for many who tackle the character. George Perez, Miller, Jim Lee instantly come to mind.
  19. They just fixed it and they are good to go. Somehow the ticket was split between two email addresses. The ticket showed up when I logged in with my professional email but it was linked through a personal email address. So basically it was showing up under two email accounts. Either way... they fixed it. Thank you though.
  20. That's interesting... I will check out those links when I get home.
  21. I don't have that option for some reason. My name and application and confirmation of events shows up. However the "Manage New York Comic Con Profile" blue bar that is in the online instructions to activate is not present on my screen. I tried this in Chrome and Safari. I will call them later. That should be fun.
  22. I am up right now trying to sort out NYCC nonsense before I go to work... I would think that if anything these characters would be a valuable property to a company headed by Spielberg. Spielberg is an admitted reader of EC comics from when he was a kid and the fantasy elements of a Native American fighting dinosaurs or a man raised by a robot to defeat rogue robots would be too tasty of a treat to ignore. In this day and age the most valuable asset is intellectual property. Why they aren't doing anything with it is beyond me. If you go to the Dreamworks website it says: When you do a search on the site though, Magnus, Solar, Turok, Dell, and the term Gold Key yield no results. Here is what I am guessing: On Turok: As much as I would like to see all three make a proper return to the forefront, Turok to me is a no brainer. You have a Land of the Lost type atmosphere, where a Native American hero is battling dinosaurs. Who doesn't like dinosaurs? Maybe Spielberg doesn't want to compete with himself in terms of the Jurassic Park franchise? On Magnus Robot Fighter: Perhaps they see Magnus as a Terminator movie type character where the machines are going to take over humanity and only Magnus can stop him? Maybe they don't want to play in Cameron's area of filmmaking ? I don't know. Maybe they don't want to be seen as ripping off the Terminator series despite Magnus being around since the 60's. On Solar: Maybe they just don't want to enter the superhero arena. I think the Gold Key version of Solar is too generic but I do believe the Valiant incarnation of the character is quite interesting. Now as I said with Spider-man, (and it looks like I was wrong about that), while Dreamworks owns the character of Solar, does Valiant in some way own that particular incarnation of the character? If Valiant remade the character in a certain way, Dreamworks may not be able to use Valiant's concept of Solar despite owning the actual character. Remember when we were talking about Spider-man that this happened when Sony sold off the TV rights to Spider-man to Disney. Disney had to end Spectacular Spider-man because even though they got the rights back, Sony had the rights to the creation and casting of that particular incarnation of the character and development of the show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spectacular_Spider-Man_(TV_series)#Cancellation It's a shame because Turok always proved to be an amazing video game when it was first released. We can't even get that right now. It is sad when I have to admit that Acclaim did a better job with the character than a company headed by Spielberg, Katzenberg, and Geffen. http://classics.dreamworksanimation.com/
