  1. look between the fight bros in the background. There were indeed arrests that evening.
  2. Here... bonus... I have a lot of pics I've taken over the years... here is a bonus... This is from the L train from Manhattan to Williamsburg... Every day is comic con on the L train.
  3. There has only been one instance where I was on the subway that shocked me so badly that I didn't even think to take a picture. It made me question every life choice I made up to that point that got me to that position. Myself and my female coworker / friend travel with one another every day. This guy pulled down his pants and defecated right in front of us. On the subway and LIRR, I have seen people kill themselves. I have seen people peeing, I have seen drunks and drugged out people on the floor. I have seen someone throw up in front of me, people asleep with their hands in their pants. I have seen hipsters being hip. I have seen and taken pictures of most all of it. The guy that pulled his pants and took a dump. That was the worst I think. That topped the guy that jumped in front of a train or other stuff. Bro vs Bro erupted into a full fledged fight on the LIRR. Caught this pic in front of me right at the moment that Long Island Bro on the right dropped an F bomb in the face at Long Island Bro to the left. Guy on the left punched him... then there was a brawl for all. Second picture? Just another evening in Williamsburg. I have no idea how to even explain it.
  4. You don’t particularly know that... The customers I deal with receive excellent customer service. No returns has eliminated a lot of undesirable headaches that you have decried in the past as people you wouldn’t do business with to begin with or again. Perhaps it weeds out the problems from the get go so no problem emerges. On a side note... there is a drunken iron worker near me on the LIRR watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch on his phone... he doesn’t have headphones... the rest of us are staring at each other in complete disbelief. I think it’s 3,949 days to go.
  5. What about pure ice cream things with the black crunchies at the bottom and the chocolate on top... is it ice cream pie or ice cream cake?
  6. Can’t really say... shifting to concise listings with multiple and vivid pictures combined with a no return policy along with the Global Shipping Program has generated satisfying sales along with happy customers. To the person that wants to return things because they don’t like it or decided that they couldn’t flip it or could get it cheaper elsewhere.. well just like on the board where we say we wouldn’t do business with someone like that... I am happy not to do business with. Red Rocks type person on eBay. its a difference of perspective as far as I’m concerned. It continues to work...
  7. Yeaaaaah.... still not offering a return policy on eBay. The good about it outweighs the bad and has cut down on nonsense. When I offered returns I had things come back for some of the following reasons: Someone's spouse was going to kill them for making such a purchase. They really couldn't afford it. Something better came up. Opened the sealed item, played with it, decided they didn't like it. All of those reasons are in some variation of buyer's remorse and that is NOT covered as a valid return unless you offer unconditional returns. By offering no returns if someone reveals the reason as anything that resembles buyer's remorse, eBay shuts it down. Supposedly buyer's remorse is frowned upon in the sales threads. If someone throws a sign in the gold section they commit themselves to a deal. If they reneg because they found a better deal elsewhere this board has been known to go bananas. If someone is caught buying a book and then unsuccessfully tries to flip it and then seeks a return <cough red rocks couch couch> the board goes bananas. As far as I am concerned I am being consistent and enforcing similar policies. Of course if there is a defect I take something back or if there is something I missed then I take it back. If the post office smashed a package, I may not like it but that falls on me. I take it back and make the buyer whole paying shipping both ways. However, I refuse to facilitate or encourage let alone enable bad behavior. Some have said that they would not shop with a seller that does not offer returns. Others are and are repeat customers. The guy that keeps buying my used flip flops is a long standing customer as are a few guys that have bought multiple books. Sales are fine and I am pleased so I have no reason nor need to change that policy as a brand new bathroom is almost paid for.
  8. Take a breath and think whether that is information you REALLY want or need to know.
  9. Considering your offer to be my personal alarm clock I am okay without you knowing any of my mailing addresses
  10. I don't believe that not offering returns on CGC books deter sales. This is NOT a dig on you but on the general mentality of our hobby. Let's stop and think about all of the unscrupulous buyers and sellers that we have witnessed on these CGC boards as well as in the hobby. Some of their behaviors are well knowns and their scams widely spoken about... and still people continue doing business with them. Why? Because as Logan has trademarked... 'Cool Books" I don't believe that a no returns policy is a deal breaker. I love a good story though and have a few I do not want made public.... so... PM forthcoming.
  11. The circle is complete... which brings us back to...
  12. Friend of mine recently told me that last year he refused a return on a CGC book because the buyer said he disagreed with the CGC grade... so... I had a similar situation years ago and also refused the return. If you are in the right, just call eBay and see what they say. For a problem like this the yeah, of course eBay is going to find in favor of the buyer. However, if you do not offer returns, eBay will look into it and make a judgement call. It's worth that call. When you offer returns it is almost as if you are opening yourself to take anything back for any reason. If you do not offer returns then eBay is willing to look into matters a little more closely. They will always side with the seller on anything that looks like buyer's remorse.
  13. Somehow I missed this. You might find out that in real life when you try certain things that you bite off more than you can chew. And as you, @Bejack3, continue to come to the boards, I am sure that you will see this.
  14. I absolutely agree that the book should be returned. Why is the seller using pics of another book to represent his product? That is insane. Why are the missing pages not disclosed in the listing? I had lunch today with another board member and this type of thing came up when it comes to eBay and returns. I showed my listings and I live by what I say on this. Your ebay listing should be accurate, factual and simple (don't bury defects in walls of text) with multiple pictures of the actual product. If you goof then even if you don't take returns you take the return. However, if the person is engaging in nonsense then don't take back the return. At lunch I brought up the example of the guy who bought a video game and a week later wanted to return it because he "didn't like it." He decided to try and force a return. He lost.
  15. If master chief isn’t around I will find it later when I get home unless it was poofed instead of locked.
  16. Never understood why it was locked to begin with. I have no problem with pressing or buying a pressed book... but I like reading both sides and engaging in the debate.
  17. I’m not on your side here... GPA sales are naturally inflated by free shipping and people like me that always list things well above GPA. Lets talk about shipping first. Let’s make believe someone is selling a $100 book. They list it at $125 free shipping. The book is inflated to represent a higher price tag AND that free shipping. That book will sell on coupon day. The book is now recorded as sold at $125. Same seller has ten copies. List it again right there to $150 free shipping. It sells again. Gpa now says $150. See what I’m doing now? Now I list the book at $145 + shipping. Let’s talk about inflated prices. I have no problem admitting I am priced above GPA on all of my books when I first list them. The market will catch up or the book sells because of any of the following reasons. I’m a nice guy. People see my feedback and feel that if they are buying they might as well buy from someone that has positive feedback and has been around for awhile. It might be a foreign seller. I sell books using GSP on eBay. Some people won’t even sell internationally. This means I may be the only avenue to get the book. Let’s talk about availability. I sold my Batman 52 in a 2.5 Slightly Brittle pages for $1200 (maybe $1300) earlier this spring. That book was well above GPA. I liked it and felt that the slightly brittle page assignment was BS as I submitted the book myself. However if I was going to sell it I was going high on it. Buyer was very happy to receive the book as evidenced through feedback. I was also offering the only copy of that book at any grade around that price range. Rather than wait for the book to turn up cheaper he decided to take it. What all of you forget is that people like me threw out the Overstreet price guide decades ago. Overstreet was even more easily manipulated because there was no discernible evidence to a seller’s reported sales. If you are one of the few that have an AF 15 you could inflate your sale by 20% especially if you have another in your inventory. It’s like a pizza place operating on a cash business. I looked at prices holistically across completed eBay sales. One person can manipulate one sale and they would be an outlier... they can not manipulate them all. Are their outliers in it? Sure... if there always have been in every “guide”.
  18. I love the Micromaster stuff. Been debating about getting a few of the third party mainline characters in that size.
  19. All I can tell from this chart... is something about Alabama.
  20. Ahhhhhh.... the old my daughter already has it excuse... buyer has made good on several other purchases across two accounts ranging from $65 to $175 so... not blocking her unless it happens again. No reason to think she is lying... she even used her own photo of the item in question... sometimes it happens.
  21. @marmat I actually have a good plan here. Put them BOTH up for sale at a price that is well above average. As soon as one of them sells take the other one down and that is the one you keep. If you want help with GPA pricing, I have no problem giving you information to you to set a price. So... Price each book 10-15% higher than what it currently goes for and go fishing. When one of them sells then you know which one you are keeping and you also received a price that is higher than any of the others which allows you a sense of satisfaction that you let the book go at a record price. I included GPA cutouts for you. The first one is the FF5 with sales information on the 4.0 and a 4.5. The second is the CSS 22 and I put up information on sales for a 4.5 and a 5.0.
