  1. What kills me is that I had 2 lower grade ASM 14's graded without being pressed. Now, since those books have experienced a significant bump from when I had them graded, I am seriously considering getting them regraded with a press and will be hopefully sending them to someone he is not overloaded.
  2. I think there should be honorable mention for any one of the 500+ names that Stu has used over the years. OR Award it to Stu but make that award only accessible or notification pending to one of the accounts that the mods have locked.
  3. Sean, was that about the time that CGC acquired / affiliated themselves with CCS? I kind of took that as a slight, "we know what we are doing and if we detect that you used anyone else we will hammer your book" type of thing.
  4. Finally someone asked a question about pressing. I didn't want to be the first.
  5. And that is a problem. There are so many misinformed and uneducated dopes that think that squeezing a book with a t shirt press is going to guarantee them a grade bump that they blame the person who sold them to slab rather than their own inexperience and ineptitude.
  6. People have a right to be nervous though with these questions considering all the amateur pressers evidenced on various Facebook groups. Everyone and their uncle thinks that they have what it takes and they are going to squeeze gold from paper. It's like watching everyone jump up and head out west during the Gold Rush. There are quite a few of them that exhibit a considerable degree of arrogance combined with entitlement and inability resulting in butthurt as to why their raw book advertised as a 7.0 went down to a 6.5 instead of going up to a 9.4. I might be the smartest out of all of them in that group though. Know why? I don't press my own books let alone even own a press. Edit: for clarification - I am not against pressing - There are only a handful of people that I consider total pros that I would entrust books to press.
  7. My personal favorite is when people ask me if a book is pressed and I tell them that I purchased the book already slabbed. Their follow up question? ”Do you think the book was pressed?” 🤦🏻‍♂️
  8. At this point all I will say is what I have already said. See above. I don’t know what else to tell you. Person wanted to recently return something that says no returns because they say they just don’t like it. I called eBay and eBay sided with me. Originally they filed it as item not described. Yet... all it took was a phone call.
  9. I don't know about "Shotgun Mike" but I do know who "Killer Mike" is...
  10. And I would have taken that back no questions asked. That actually happened to me with a first Silver Age Spectre. I did the 1092/1095 double box with bubble wrap. The buyer said he knew I did the right thing buy showed me that the box was destroyed upon arrival and the slab shattered. I took it back. I filed a claim and received the full amount from USPS. I have the book. Even if I did not receive the claim from USPS that is mine and the cost of doing business. There is so much that I would love to post... but it might not be a good idea
  11. No, I just keep at it. Here is how I look at it... and I have to admit that I learned this the hard way. Here is my AHA moment. Some insufficiently_thoughtful_person of a buyer was buying something from my personal account and said there was a problem. I processed the return. A couple of months later they had the exact same issue buying something on the other account that I manage. They did not know the two were related. This was for jewelry. The problem sounded familiar so I checked my notes and sure as ESS they were the same person. I got ruthless. And I kept at it. Here is my personal philosophy. I don't mind the bad press. I have no problem being badmouthed across the internet. If you are trying to play games I do not want you as a customer anyway. So... I can either stand up and take a hit or I can allow this type of behavior to continue and pass it along to the next person.
  12. I want to add that next week is Eternal Con on Long Island. It's probably cheaper to go see the Dead.
  13. So "groovy" and "far out" ? Which reminds me... I have to start deciding if I am actually going to go to Citi Field next weekend. I might pick up a single ticket at the last minute.
  14. Here is what I "think" it comes down to. Do not list that you accept returns on eBay. It gives the seller an extra layer of protection.
  15. Funny you bring that up. “Change my mind” is not a valid return reason if you have “no returns” selected on your listing. It falls under buyer remorse which is not a valid reason for a return. See attached...
  16. Lies... @greggy doesn't do things like that.
  17. YUP ! Heeeeeeeey look at the forumite of the year.... what's he up to? uhhh a one week suspension.
  18. Yes... I tried to find it though to no avail. If you can find it, perhaps it is time for a threadsurrection !
  19. OMG I remember that... That was like six? seven? years ago? Sorry, @RockMyAmadeus but that was funny.
  20. I might be wrong but If memory serves correctly weren't you given a time out about a month after you got forumite of the year. I think we were all joking about that.
  21. If I make it, I will find a place for you in my cabinet.
