  1. You're welcome... Moana cosplay really brought a genuine smile to my face. They each got a fist bump.
  2. Mario Cart seemed fun and it was a cosplay that really didn't get in the way of anyone.
  3. First off, you got to go with the biggest thing in the room. Funko's Gladiator Hulk was definitely the biggest in the room and the thing that kind of greets you.
  4. First off... while I was on my way to the show coming from Long Island I received this via text. For all of you non-NY'rs that came through a tunnel of some sort, this is what those little ledges and rail areas served as. Now you know...and knowing...
  5. So I figured I would throw in my annual / semi - annual review of the show. Walked around a lot. Had to travel back and forth to Long Island a lot... So sit back and enjoy the costumes, some pics of books and little anecdotes or write ups of what I saw. Loot will be at the end. It wound up being pretty GI Joe heavy. Welcome to NYCC 2018. Immediate edit and side note... certain vendors were notable absent or poorly promoted. Lego, who once had entire sections and a stage and at least had a van and a con exclusive last year was represented only by a Jason Mamoa Aquaman life size sculpture by the costumes. Vendors such as Spencer's Artist's Choice shared a booth with someone else by Square Enix and I had no idea they were there until Sunday. Hasbro used to have a presence but did their own show at a suite off site to members of the press only. ... sad.. but okay... here we go... and more on that later.
  6. Yes but there is a good reason with that. Disney has always been protective of its intellectual property in order to maintain the best possible image for the time period of that character. They have been selective as to where to lend the use of image for their characters as well. More importantly is that Disney needs to go after every unauthorized use of their trademarked characters no matter how altruistic the initial use was because it maintains the trademark. If they allow a for profit day care center to use the images then without compensation or official sanctioning then there should be no problem when I set up my new T Shirts business.
  7. Well, at least we have the answer to the topic question. This person is NOT crazy. Thread closed.... right? Seriously though, what happened to the books in transit.
  8. Yes... this I have experienced as well. However, when I explained what I did for a living his face lit up and he seemed excited about it and we conversed about it for a bit more as there was no one behind me that late into the show. This was at a Big Apple show.
  9. Neal sometimes does that to attract attention to himself as a means to advertising that he is there. At NYCC he is not with the other artists on Artist Alley and has his own setup upstairs. Occasionally he will yell something out to attract attention to himself. "Main stage is over here" or something to get attention. I've seen him grow more cynical over the years though from when he was charging MUCH less for a signature.
  10. Heh heh NYCC has been a great time for me and GI Joe... can’t wait to show some stuff off. Picked up a page of art today as well.
  11. Handed over two books to them today at NYCC... Incidentally they said that NYCC is the biggest show for submissions. Cap 47 was a Restored 3.5 that I asked Joey to take the spine roll out of. He did a fantastic job with it by the way. It came back from CBCS as a 4.5 when I wanted to give them a try. I really want it back in a CGC holder. Superman 11... I won a 3.0 on CLink that was already in a CBCS holder. That will come back in a CGC holder as well.
  12. Yes, (Dealer name edited) v Some Customer today at NYCC... got awkward to the point that I decided it wasn't worth shopping at that point and I would go back later. Narrator from Arrested Development: "Buzzetta didn't." Neither the dealer nor the customer were 100% right.
  13. I wasn't too impressed with Tim Sale's interaction with another con goer at NYCC especially after the guy left. I don't think he or his art rep realized I was there or within earshot and let's leave it at that.
  14. New York Comic Con... Found myself some excellent samples of key GI Joe figures I wanted last night. I will post pics later after I am finished shopping on Sunday.
  15. If the guy is utilizing product from you as an opportunity for resale then honestly, who cares? To me it is no different than when a dealer buys an individual's collection in bulk at a discount. Then the dealer bundles some series to sell them as sets, sticks some stuff in quarter bins and then burns some stuff to mark up the good stuff at a premium. There really is no difference except in the business model to sell the book. However... If an individual is using you as a supply to engage in a fraudulent business practice, not only should you turn that supply faucet off you must. I had a guy that was buying used jewelry from me on eBay and then reselling it on eBay as 'new' without tags. He was taking items that he knew were used then misrepresenting them as new. He wasn't even making that much on the markup. If I sold it to him for $150 he marked it up to $200. When I found that out he was blocked. When he asked why since he was a good customer I explained why. I also blocked his other account and refused to ship an item to the same address as the original account. Then... being me. I trolled all his listings and kept humping the report button to eBay. Now there is also another way to look at things but I warn you that it is petty and I don't think anyone should think this way. I knew of a comic store owner that refused to sell to any customer he knew was selling. He felt that if a comic collector bought a book in the area from someone other than him then it was money out of his pocket since that buyer was spending money that he could be spending on comics from him. That store went out of business.
  16. Making headlines around the toy sites... check out #5058 https://cases.primeclerk.com/toysrus/Home-DocketInfo Could Toys R Us reorganize and make a return?
  17. I saw something like that on eBay and have 20 of them still in the polybag. I bought them from a guy for $1 each. There are a lot more copies of that particular book than people realize. I might take a brick of ten and have them pressed and graded since they seem to be selling for ridiculous prices.
  18. Hey - I advertise Amazing Spider-man #31 as the first appearance of Spider-Gwen. I agree.
  19. Hey, it took me ten years after it left theaters to see Good Will Hunting...
  20. Out of everything in this thread, I think the Rocket Firing Fett and Stormshadow's Flagg. I don't know which is better simply because while the rocket firing fett is a holy grail among SW collectors, the Flagg is an accomplishment upon itself for the sole reason of the dedicated space required.
