  1. A) I really wanted Snake Eyes Version II with the wolf and my mom would search high and low for him finally finding him for me. Still have him. B) The Millennium Falcon - This was finally rectified years later when they reissued it as part of the POTF2 line and then much later on I secured myself the BMF Falcon. I still have that BMF Falcon from 2008. It sits upright in my closet but will eventually be put on display in the office if I finish my office off this summer. http://www.rebelscum.com/tlcBMF.asp C) I strictly had GI Joe, Transformers and Star Wars. They were all pretty fun.
  2. I bought a bunch of things... After 17 years I finally parted ways with my 2001 Mustang. That car has now been retired to go play on a farm and race against all the other Mustangs. I decided on the 2018 Jeep Compass in white... so when I did a search... lo and behold... they make a dealer incentive only die cast version in China. The only real difference is a slight body change in the rear windows and I have black rims. That is on it's way to sit in my office. It must be a sign because I also have a black diecast version of my Mustang (sans spoiler) but cool nonetheless. The TRU giraffe plush was because I was feeling sad as I passed by and realized that they were all gone today. Tunnel Rat was picked up because I regretted selling mine as I really liked that mold of the figure. My one comic purchase was another Disney WWII cover. I think I am down to picking up one or two more before I have them all. This was freakin work. I sat at my desk for an hour with a calculator weighing items from various sellers to see which was the better deal.
  3. It's interesting that you bring that up. I have no issues watching a movie when someone gets hit by a car or reading the news when a terrorist plows into a group of people. GTA though for some reason is a turnoff to me perhaps it is because the experience is celebrated in the game and you are actually rewarded by the experience. However, after what I did to my elbow a few years ago, I cannot watch any type of traumatic elbow injury without getting squeamish and 'feeling' the pain in the arm. That to me is strange.
  4. Some of the boardies that know me personally know of the following. It's not meant fro dramatic effect but to give an honest answer as to your question. So, by the time I was 29, I was dating this girl for around four years. I met up with her on the way home from work to do some shopping before we were to go to her sister's house for dinner. She was driving her car in front of me as I followed and saw an object flash in front of me. Her car came to a screeching halt and I slammed on my breaks as well. She had hit a pedestrian that went through her car. For the skeptical forensic scientists reading this, the body went into the air and as she slammed on her brakes it went through the rear window. I opened up her car and found the woman in her backseat and she was all twisted but still making sounds and then died right in front of me. At that time I was still playing video games to blow off steam after a long day at work. I would come home and get paperwork done. Once I did that, I would play a few missions of something like Grand Theft Auto and then call it a night. After I saw that woman die, I could never quite play a game like Grand Theft Auto ever again. It was too real. As I had gotten older, experience taught me that maybe something like that was not entertaining.
  5. I only have a 4.0 copy of ASM 39 displayed because it is signed by Lee and Romita and that is in the curio cabinet. Only comic booky things on the walls is the artwork itself. Expensive stuff worth $1000 or more is in museum style glass. Most of the other stuff is about $200-$500 page and that was framed using basic off the shelf frames from Michaels. Nothing is in direct sunlight as the shades are usually drawn at all times. They are translucent though to it is not like it is dark. Animation art is a little more sensitive in my eyes so the framed animation art (6 pieces) is hung downstairs in the furnished basement. (Dehumidifier runs all year) Temperature wise... my house is kept no warmer than 70-73 during throughout the year. I HATE the heat. Always have which is strange since I've been swimming and a water guy since I was a teenager. During the winter months I am very comfortable at 58-60 degrees.
  6. HE IS ASKING ABOUT PGX BOOKS AND WHEN THEY STARTED MESSING AROUND WITH THEIR GRADING SYSTEM.
  7. Maybe there is some merit to this thread... maybe not... I have to admit that I really don't care. So why am I here? Because this should be the discussion... Why is it that so many people expect NM to be 9.8? Last I checked NM started at 9.4 and could include 9.2. Everyone is expecting to score 9.8's all the time and seem disappointed even when their new book straight outta Diamond comes back a 9.6. So in the meantime...
  8. That's right ! I forgot about that. It is a rerelease from the original carded versions. That is a good price for that btw... I just sold my extra two pack of that for $45.99 to an overseas buyer. Keep in mind that I use the GSP too. It's a solid set and worth the $35.
  9. West Coast Avengers... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 48, 51, 52, 55, 56, 57, 58, 60, 61, 62, 62, 101 and Annual 2. Average Condition is VF to be safe. (There is definitely some NM thrown in there) If you want any specific close ups of any books let me know. Books are bagged but not boarded... I will cardboard sandwich them in packs of 9 for shipping durability. Lot will be sent boxed. Price... (I added these up on MCS and if you bought them in the best available at VF or Fine this would run around $70... (no seriously).. since that is absurd... PRICE for the 27 book lot... $20 + shipping.
  10. Have not done one of these in awhile and I found a box of comics I would like to clear away. First da' Rules. I ship anywhere at buyer's expense. For US buyers I will ship these via Priority mail or Parcel Post... whatever the buyer wants. Media mail is available at BUYER'S RISK. I accept PayPal, USPS Money Orders, or if you are on Long Island I can do the exchange in cash. Returns are accepted so long as I am notified in three days and then the books are placed in the mail within five days after that at the buyer's expense. No HOS or Probation List people or Drama Llamas. I go by timestamp of whoever commits to buying whether that be in public or PM. And as always, a song... BBC's Obsolete Orkestra playing New Order's Blue Monday on 1930's instruments that belong in a museum... Check it out if not for anything else.
  11. Oh... and as long as we are adding music...
  12. I liked Last Jedi... it was Force Awakens that I still want my money back.
  13. Say it! Please say it! "The wheels are in motion..."
  14. Ready for this? According to youjoe.com the last incarnation of Snake Eyes was released in 2014.
  15. Some of them were just poorly designed. We were very careful with our toys as we didn't get replacements if anything was broken. In fact we were seen as careless. One figure that immediately comes to mind is Recondo. Although I remember Clutch as my first Joe, that was a Christmas gift from my cousin. Recondo was the first Joe I ever picked out at the store. (RIP TRU). If you take a close look at Recondo picture in the catalog he holds his gun with the stock on the outside of his forearm. I did not realize this as a kid. The second you try to make him hold the weapon with the stock on the inside of the forearm, the thumb breaks. My original Recondo was glued. I picked up a couple of others and saw that they had the same issue. When it came to Joes also keep in mind that the rivets that hold the shoulders together at the joints caused stress fractures in the plastic. Those toys were really built to last... Pick up a modern Snake Eyes though... V.54 or V67... They are like mini sideshow figures. (I will pull you into the rabbit hole... you will see.)
  16. Just bought three books to flip... I lost out on my keepers.
  17. I would have to disagree with this. Every now and then I receive an email in my PM box here asking me about a toy purchase for a child. When it comes to buying a Transformers toy from the 80's versus one now I would argue that the current incarnation is more durable. Transformers from the 80's were very unforgiving if not transformed correctly. Arms would break off or other pieces if not properly transformed. While it is true that a core area was die cast the rest of the toy was constructed out a more brittle plastic. Today's transformers have a "give" to them. Sure one could say that the plastic is malleable allowing for bent feet syndrome. (Modern day Joe collectors know what I am talking about but we will get to that next.) However, if you have not properly aligned the transformer arms to tuck under the engine block in the transformation process, the arm will pop off at the ball and socket joint rather than break. Three decades ago, this was not the case, and your Sideswipe arm would have just broken at the shoulder. If you drop a vintage transformer back in the day, the thing just cracked and broke. Today's can take a hit and still keep truckin. I was comparing Vintage Dinobot Snarl to Modern Power of the Primes Snarl. Modern version beats the vintage six ways til' Sunday. Modern day transformers were really designed with the kids in mind. The Masterpiece line is made with modern concepts but vintage type materials and are geared toward more adult collectors. Careful though as they do not have the durability that the regular line has. Now when it comes to GI Joe? Today's modern joes have softer plastic but the trade off is no broken crotches, no broken thumbs and no snapped rubber bands. Sure you can make a claim that the forearms on some of the first mold incarnations of modern day characters such as Duke. Mailaway Doc and others suffered stress cracks but they abandoned that molded part in later years. Again, I would take a modern day Joe over the vintage if I were giving it to a kid. There is less chance of it breaking. The modern versions can take a hit.
  18. Very much impressed by this. It is so outside my area of even basic knowledge about collecting the tin windups. Seriously, feel free to share other things that you have picked up. I am very interested in these.
  19. Oh yeah ! Got this in the mail. This was not high on the priority list but it was something I always thought was cool. I also said that if I ever found an R2-D2 with snow white coloring and no yellowing that I would make a play for it. I never had 12" Star Wars figures as a kid... but I do now. Both figures are in beautiful condition and yes, the Death Star plans are included in R2-D2. I already put them in the curio cabinet.
  20. We did not have a lot growing up so all of our toys were handled very carefully as there would be no replacements and if my parents thought we were careless with our toys there would also be no new ones. However I do remember taking a screwdriver to GI Joes because if we wanted new figures sometimes we would kitbash in order to create new characters.. again because of $.
  21. @STORMSHADOW_80 I love that Eagle Hawk and was more than happy to sell off my Tommahawk and keep the modern updated version. That thing is built to last and is not as fragile. Hasbro really went above and beyond on that piece. Mine is currently disassembled and in a box... but it might come out this summer.
  22. BTW.... I would not be surprised if this is not the next haslab project. Back in 2011, Hasbro researched the viability of an updated USS Flagg to accommodate the smaller one man attack jets, Sky Hawks, and choppers in their then current lineup for GI Joe. They modeled it after the GI Joe: Resolute cartoon and created the following mockup. As you realize this was never produced but Hasbro did bring it to a Joe Con or two to show off what might have been (and what eventually could be.) With the success of the barge I would expect to see this offered sometime in the future. The footprint was under four feet so I would say they would go for another $500 and offer Admiral Keel Haul as a pack-in alongside another figure if they give this a go.
  23. Yes More remarkable of what it would be if it were actually in scale.
