  1. In a way I am kind of proud that I still have yet to own a copy of NM98. @RockMyAmadeus is correct that the hoarding of NM98 far exceeded that of ASM 300 but there were a lot of people that were putting a few copies of that book away. I remember as a 12-13 year old buying a few copies thinking it would help pay for a car one day. Remember that in the year prior to ASM 300, the Hobgoblin was unmasked, Peter Parker proposes and marries Mary Jane, Spider-man was shot and killed, and then this guy McFarlane came around. All of the issues leading up to 300 were must reads at the time. I remember as a kid being mesmerized by the art because it was the first time I saw something 'different'. I think it was the webbing that stood out the most for me. 300 was also a milestone issue and I think I bought a few copies NOT because of Venom but because it was a "100" issue which was still considered important. ASM 100 had been popular in the collecting circles and even in 1988, issue 200 was special (if I recall correctly) so why shouldn't I buy a few copies of 300. Another edit... At the time Venom was cool to me but it was just another character. It wasn't the Hobgoblin. I don't think it was until about a little later in the series... by 316 with that crazy McFarlane cover of Venom that the character really started to spark my interest.
  2. I can roll up bubble wrap. Keeping float tubes around the house in case I sell a book seems to be a bit much in terms of devoting space.
  3. It works enough for me that I keep doing it.
  4. Whatever walks up the bids... I do it early and often in the beginning. I also can sometimes tell when someone is bidding on a bunch of things that are alike. Then I try to walk their bids up to their max so they are maxing out their money and go after the piece I really want the most with more gusto. Yes, this has worked.
  5. Or maybe if someone has 0 posts that they have a use it or lose it status. If something is not done with their account then they lose access or the account is deleted. This would stop certain someone / people from stockpiling shill accounts.
  6. Maybe they should let us pay cash then in person so we can circumvent the sales tax.
  7. Someone posted something on June 14th and I immediately made an offer on which they accepted. Their listing was not up for more than an hour. The pics made it look too good to be true so I will wait until it arrives before I post pics in the Plastic Crack thread. With the discount and the 10% eBay bucks... I am glad that I held out on the 15% off coupon and shopped this event. Had I bought something then I would never have shopped this one.
  8. I was REALLY excited to see this introduced last year as something that Hasbro was working on. I thought it was an exceptional vehicle and I even made sure to pick up the Lego version when it was released for $25. However... if this is MSRP... then I am definitely going to pass. I think that $84.99 is way too much for this. I will wait for it to hit clearance if I get it at all. http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/75593 Still... I have to say it looks cool.
  9. I was not qualified for that offer. I got the 10% back in eBay bucks for things I buy but not for anything I sell... A shame... sold a Star Wars 1 in 9.6 last night for $450.
  10. Then there was the time that Ric Flair beat on a book...
  11. Sometimes the comic companies were instructed NOT to draw the likeness of the actor so that they would not have to pay out additional licensing fees. I have heard that this is the reason that Indiana Jones did not originally feature Ford's likeness in the comic series. This is definitely true with the licensing issues for the Indiana Jones attractions in Disney World. In the 90's when these attractions were added to Hollywood Studios (then MGM Studios in WDW) and the Indy Adventure in Disneyland as well as several other attractions overseas, Ford's likeness was not licensed to all of them. So basically the movie studio could license out the character but the not the actor's likeness unless compensation was provided.
  12. And this is exactly what I mean..... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! WOOO!!! WOOO!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Now everyone read this message again in the voice of Flair !
  13. Cal is not as crazy as people make him out to be. However, y'all like winding him up and he likes winding y'all up in return.
  14. Cal, pay no attention to him. He knows not of which he speaks... like... ever.
  15. 23rd... another friend is moving off of Long Island and going to their farewell BBQ... Very sad what is still going on over here. I am definitely here for at least another 12 years... then I will reevaluate living here.
  16. I dare the OP @A-Burning-Desire to nominate CBCS to the Probation Thread.
  17. I have an extra ticket to Dead and Company next weekend...
  18. The Beastie Boys really were quite talented. They could actually play their own instruments and were way ahead of their time fusing elements of punk to rap. They even recorded an instrumental album...
