  1. Keeping my to see if I get Halloween tickets. If so it will be the first time I've ever been to Vegas.
  2. Do full length animated feature films count if they were released in the theaters? Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
  3. Yes that is the point. No one is forcing a template down anyone's throats. People are free to make any type of rules up for their own thread. However when you refer to 'regular rules' you are not referring to anything since they do not exist. If you want to cite regular rules then there should be some type of idea what those rules are. Until regular rules are defined, theoretically any thread that cites them is not following the guidelines since in reality they are not stating any terms at all.
  4. And believe me I appreciate you saying that. There is a LOT that gets lost around here because we see nothing but text from one another. The thing is, if we go by "regular rules" then was he quicker than I was? I originally posted an unconditional before the the OP posted pics of the book. Fein's claim grabbed the book pending pics. My interpretation of regular rules would have been that my would have muscled through his claim. I never deleted my I edited it out to question the OP what regular rules were instead to demonstrate that I was indeed present before the pics were published to raise the issue as to what these "regular rules are" I have seen regular rules to imply that a take it in thread no matter a time stamp can trump a pm take it. I have seen regular rules to imply that even if a book is on hold in PM or whatever the full deal with that was, then the book can still be grabbed. Please do not mistake my desire for less confusion with one for more moderation. If sellers are posting 'regular rules apply' when we have no set of regular rules then I don't know what the deal is.
  5. It is a little more than that. Others privately mentioned it to me how frustrating it is to see vague rules and in those cases wanting to throw in a sign, but do not want to stir the pot. This discussion has arisen over my initial raising of the issue. If you look over that thread, I posted something before the scans of the book were posted. I changed my for a clarification of what are the 'regular rules'. If I wanted to be a royal pain, I could have left the unconditional and claimed it for myself citing 'regular rules' that I believe to be in my favor. Spider-fein could have then cited that no such rule existed and that the book was technically on hold until he sees pics. I avoided what I perceived to be a potential hot mess of a thread all together and decided to raise the issue here. Sellers need to have some form of rules in their sales thread. That I believe everyone agrees on. If someone is going to cite 'regular rules' then I want to know what those regular rules are. This is not an isolated case. As far as the sales threads through PM that are going on. While not invited to many at all, it's a shame and a loss on the seller's part. I do not readily disclose what books I am looking for unless I cannot find them at all which leads me to pick up GA and SA books that few know I would be interested in buying. I have cash on hand, a history of paying immediately and make no demands on sellers whatsoever. If those sellers want to limit their prospective buyers by excluding me and others then so be it. As I stated about the ASM 6, I rescinded my claim as I did not want to deal with board drama. For a couple of hundred it is not worth the aggravation. There are and will continue to be other 'cool books.' But Beige, I would like to believe that from what you know of me, this is not a sour grapes situation that I did not get the book. I believe that had I left my claim, with a push and a fight (if it came to that) I would have received it. This is an issue where I want to know what the rules are on the playing field as it does not seem to be isolated to the ASM 6 thread but quite a few of them.
  6. I am with you on this. The first step is posting a thread to see who would want to be involved. From there, perhaps there should be some sort of suggestion process where those that want to be involved write down at least two things that are of absolute importance for them to see in the rules of a FS thread. Everyone goes from there after we consolidate that list into a few statements.
  7. Well, here are a few issues that have risen out of the 'regular rules apply' posts: 1) Who gets the book in this case? PM unconditional or in the thread unconditional ? I understand time stamp should take priority but some people believe that in the thread takes precedence over in a PM (although I never understood that logic). 2) How about this? pending scan but then someone else takes it unconditionally? I'm sure there are more but you get the idea. This is a great idea. (thumbs u This would appease people that are lazy and don't want to write out their own rules while also allowing those that wish to write out their own rules do so. I really like this. Have a set of "regular rules" drafted and added to the selling forum rules officially by the moderators. If the seller posts in his sales thread that 'regular rules apply but doesn't stipulate those rules, then boardies are free to copy those rules into the sales thread, point to the selling thread rules posted by Arch and ask to confirm that these are the rules they are referring to. If not, the seller is forced to make amendments to the rules on the spot so there is no confusion...but the posted rules are the automatic default until the seller states otherwise. Seems to be the most elegant and painless solution so far and would eliminate a zillion headaches. I agree with Roy here. We do not need to determine right now what the "regular rules" are but they should be eventually determined so that they are stickied and anytime someone simply claims regular rules then they are bound to that.
  8. The guy that gets back to you months later? Yeah... I believe the general consensus was that people felt he was trying to scam you.
  9. What if there were a field that MUST be filled out as the header for every thread: Example: Methods of Payment: Paypal, Check, MO Will Ship to: Worldwide Methods of Shipping: Free CONUS Shipping, International Express Priority Will Not Sell to: HOS, Probies and "names" (Yes we should name names- it might cut down on some drama) Priority of Claims: Unconditional trumps conditional , if an unconditonal is made in PM and in the thread we go by timestamp.
  10. Reboot... which is fine. Visually the film looks amazing. It has my interest. Here is a screen cap of the tattoo scene in the trailer.
  11. Goodnight Cee Gee Some music with an island theme... Jimmy Buffett - A Pirate Looks at Forty Jack Johnson - Let it be Sung Joe Purdy - Wash Away Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World
  12. So now out of curiosity, so I know going forward. Had I kept the unconditional sign and demanded the book: 1 - What would the reaction have been as to who gets the book as "regular rules" could be open to anything? 2 - The boardie admitted that he had too much to drink as he was making the initial post. Does this figure into the thread?
  13. Congratulations... I covet that book Book presents VERY well, great cover, a lot of history behind it and as much as I want a copy myself, that should become part of your 'black hole' collection to save and pass along when you are ready.
  14. I had my finger on the 'take it' trigger on that book well before the conditional taker's post. I likewise held off because of several issues in the initial thread specification, including the fact that no rules were specified (not to mention the OP's clearly revealed state of being at the time)...don't need the drama Exactly...
  15. +1 Just plain lazy...not to mention that such threads don't technically meet marketplace guidelines. In my idealistic fantasy world that does not exist, all of us buyers would abstain from buying books from those threads. edit: I wonder how it would play out if I bought a book from a "regular rules" thread like this: " , and I'll pay via check at a 3% discount off your asking price, with free USPS Priority Shipping " I mean, that's as "regular" as anything else...interesting experiment to consider I posted an unconditional takeit in a thread early this morning after someone posted a pending pics reply. This is pretty easy to figure out what thread I am talking about. I then thought about it and edited it out because I did not feel like dealing with the likely drama to ensue. We all saw what happened the last time something like that had arisen. And if anyone saw it and wants to hold me to the sale by all means please do. Who wouldn't want a higher grade book at 70% of GPA saving about $500 off the last recorded sale and the average price?
  16. This "regular rules" nonsense needs to stop since they seem to vary becoming quite irregular from thread to thread. Annoyance over.
  17. What I personally cannot stand is when someone takes a week and a half to pay and demands that their item is sent within the advertised one day after payment. Here is an example: 1/1 - I list the item at auction 1/8 - Item sells 1/22 - buyer finally pays two weeks later ("Umm sorry Buzz, I forgot.") Make believe I had not listed any new items past January 1st. All listings have been closed off because I am going away. When the buyer finally pays two weeks later, I may either be on vacation, simply too busy as I know when my work load gets heavy at certain times during the year or other things come up like this past March when I had to get surgery. A real example occurred in March. I had a guy that bought a Star Wars ship MIB from me. He claimed he was having trouble with his paypal for two weeks. All of a sudden I shatter my elbow, and he THINKS he has figured it out two weeks later and wants to know if he can still buy it, BUT HE NEEDS ME TO SHIP IT ASAP?!?!?! I cancelled the transaction while loaded on painkillers.
  18. I pay ASAP but I do not expect for the item to be mailed immediately. It is easy for the buyer to pay these days as nothing more than a few clicks of the button need to be done. However, there is a lot more to packaging up an item and I do not want anyone rushing around on my account. It can wait, so long as I eventually get what I paid for. In the old days, as was mentioned, you sent a check through the mail, waited for it to be cashed then hoped that the seller would send your item.
  19. I do not ask him many questions, but I try to make the questions I ask, good ones.
  20. Okay... I was going to post this in the CG thread on the Action 1 9.0 Thread... but this seemed like the best place to ask a question geared directly to obtain your perspective. You made mention that through a few of your sources, you learned that CGC graded the second Action 1 in a 9.0 sometime last year but held off adding it to the census until the new OSPG could be published. Given that GPA shows that since June of 2013, three copies, 5.0 (9/13), 3.0 (8/13) and a 1.5 (6/13) have exchanged hands, what might have been the impact, if any, on those sales if the second Action in a 9.0 had been known?
  21. Wanted to mention that I received it today and will start reading it tonight.
  22. Thought I should post this here as well: So a follow up... I had to call eBay for another matter and once done and as long as I had already called, I decided to make a complaint against Symbiotic since he was shilling, outbidding and canceling bids on two auctions that I initially participated in. Just got off the phone with eBay as the listings that I participated in were obviously shilled. As a participant in the listings and not someone who was watching, I was able to make a claim against him that is escalated by my customer service representative. Once she looked at the listing she saw what had been done. She then asked me to file a few more complaints. I filed one on item #281386199615 This in turn had her file her own report on all of his current listings and should results in a "Not a Registered User" classification in his near future.
  23. Captain America's battles against the Nazis in Cap #1 are not much more era-specific than Superman's battles against Great Depression-related struggles in Action #1. Simply not fighting villains tied to a specific year is not what makes characters or stories "timeless", and by the same token, fighting villains or wars that actually took place during specific years does not disqualify a book from being timeless either. Unlike Action #1, Tec #27 and AF #15, which included only one hero-story a piece, Cap #1 features four hero stories—including the hero's origin (absent from Tec #27) and the 1st app. of his arch-nemesis (absent from Action #1, Tec #27 and AF #15). I am also with Wayne-Tec on this one. As a guy in his 30's if the opportunity arises, I would select owning a Cap 1 over a Superman 1, Batman 1 or a Marvel 1. IN addition to the reasons that he states, there is also the added desirability of owning the first appearance of Captain America over an issue '1' of a character that had already been out for a bit.
  24. The figures are Kre-O (Hasbro Lego knock-off) and the pieces are a mix of both brands. Interestingly after handling both brands, I can tell you that the Hasbro Kre-O brand blocks have some elements that are cheap feeling and do not bond together in the way that Lego does. I picked up a couple of sets for the GI Joe figures but immediately noticed the inferiority of the overall product. The only redeeming aspect of these sets are the high quality figures.
