  1. maybe they're going to be losing some locations? Maybe some contracts were due for renewal and they havent been renewed?
  2. I know this is slightly a moot point since mystery boxes are not outlawed but I wanted to clear the air in terms of how my last mystery box turned out. I posted my previous mystery box contents which I felt was way light in value and Jason let me know he would make it right in my free second box. Here is what I received from the two boxes: The key books are fairly rough but complete and readable except for the DD 158 which is right on the edge of high grade. I will have to say this is the best $150 box I've ever gotten from Jason but it was his Birthday thread so maybe it was his intent to wow people with the second box. But to fair I thought it was important to show the good after showing the bad. so wait are the two pictures everything that was in the free box?
  3. I think this is good news http://icv2.com/articles/news/view/32095/dst-revives-marvel-statue-line when I collected statues there were some nice designs from the marvel line (more action, more props) vs the static competition at the time.
  4. I wonder if FREE mystery boxes would still be allowed (like I did last year, only cost the "buyer" the shipping cost)...
  5. and thats why I never understood paying big money for a CGC graded NM98. Look 8 more coming in from the wild! (PS nice timing on a find of them too, right before the movie!)
  6. I think yes, but honestly I wasnt sure, and no one had responded to his post (including Comical), so I figured telling him the PL process was a decent start. If he got a mystery box not equal to the purchase value (which was what was stated in the Sales thread), I guess he could nominate right, the terms of the sale were not met, no?
  7. so if you want to nominate him for the PL follow the stated PL nomination rules. 1. Send him a PM, a new PM stating that you are nominating him for the Probation list regarding the transaction. 2. Then come here and say you've notified cgems about the nomination. 3. State here in the probation discussion the conditions of the nomination (though you've done most of that already). Id just clearly state the dates that you a) agreed to a purchase and b) when you made payment. 4. Assuming all the conditions of the PL are met, then Cgems has up to 72 hrs to respond and present their side. If after the 72 hours, or after cGems responds it can be decided if PL conditions are met and then he would be put on the list, or the nomination would be shot down (if deemed not PL worthy). 5. Once Cgems meets the conditions of the transaction then he would come off the PL (assume it was a successful nomination). [i think I got all that right, anyone can feel free to correct me]
  8. Was the Denver pedigree amassed by a woman? Yes, I think you are right. I did not know that! I stand corrected (And I totally forgot about Maggie!))
  9. Thank you. July 8? but if he's shipping priority like he says here: isnt that 10+ days for a 2-3 day priority box to arrive? I'd be worried.
  10. can you explain how you valued this box at $150 or more?
  11. well if you have a business that is inventory heavy and cash light, and need an influx of $$ its a very low effort way to move lots of content quickly with little effort. Or you are working with a finite space and have decided its more feasible to clear inventory than rent more storage/retail space. It's not viable as an ongoing business model, but as a one time event it can work depending on your goals...
  12. I don't get how anyone jumped into that cluster.... no minimum stated value for the mystery boxes, then how can anyone think getting fleeced wasn't a possibility? No structure/transparency to it means it could easily be a "make sure my friends get good stuff, give junk to the guys I don't know" There's a way for everyone to win in a mystery box sale, even the seller...but it means that the seller has to understand that their "win" is getting rid of volume in an easier method than scanning hundreds of individual books and managing dozens of purchase orders. When a seller promises big winners, then everyone has to understand that means there will have to be big losers for things to balance out unless the seller is willing to be the loser (and who thinks a seller is interested in doing that?)
  13. I think I can make out a "5" in the black area next to the "1". The top of it is sticking out slightly, and theres a bit of a bump in the black lower down. This would jive with the 3X code we were talking about. PS I think its super cool having a female hero comic, from the lone female collector pedigree.
  14. I thought it was just sour grapes from someone who's had exactly one sale in his own "going out of business" sales thread...
  15. Great Sensation Hoarder! Can you confirm the pedigree info on the cover (hard to read in your pic) Is it 6-1-44 or is it a different day (like 11, 16 or something)? And is there a camp code on the cover? Im guessing its either: 3V, 3X or 3Y thanks for helping with the info!
  16. oh and dont take my thoughts as critique... I love a good deep dive into the data pool!
  17. wonder if there are some books, or eras of books, or types of books that... ...are more often sold privately ...are held raw more often than other books that would skew the comparative value of those books versus others. I also wonder if there are books that are more often sold at fixed prices (where the seller sets the market to a degree) vs being auctioned (where the seller has no control of where the market ends). If most sale totals are a 60/40 mix of auction to fixed price but Action 1 has it's sales total based on a 20/80 mix of auction to fixed prices I think that makes it harder to compare it to other books that hit the market in a "normal" auction/sale mix.
  18. You cant search for them from what I recall. All you can do is CTRL+F "Oka" each page of the auction. The annoying thing to me is the column inches they give to the JAMIE GRAHAM COLLECTION while the actual pedigree got 1-2 sentences up until this most recent auction. If I had been selling this book I would have been pissed that CLINK gave NO mention in the description of the pedigree: at least they gave the actual pedigree equal space in this most recent auction...
  19. Here's two more camp era books for posterity sake from the most recent CLink auction. I bid on the Police but bowed out when it went over $600. The Shadow Comic (v4issue7) is from near the end of the camp era markings, it has a "4" marking and what looks like a check mark. It has a date of 9-?-44 and if you look in the upper left you can see the "Okajima" -script but it is VERY faded. The book is slabbed, just not CGC.
  20. In a shocking turn of events the OP was reasonable, receptive and appreciated the feedback (as he is relatively new)... this may set a bad precedent... hopefully the next person will tell me to shove it.
  21. FYI: I've PMed a seller incorrectly citing GPA stats. Gonna give them a chance to fix it rather than blast them in their thread, but if it's still there when I wake up in the morning (here in Europe) I'll be posting. and yes, everyong get over to the VCC and stroll the aisles and browse!
  22. I would never buy a "tainted" book oh wait you mean like restored? that's not what I thought you meant...
  23. what's my avatar (looks left) oh yeah. I like GA Sci-Fi books. Planet 71 is beautiful. Has nothing to do with my user name which I've used all over the web since the early 90s (yes kids, the early 90s). My forum name is an homage to the Miracle Mets of 1969, my favorite team and their championship year.
  24. Which ever one sold most recently would be the one that sold for the most... (did that make sense?) One would think that they are neck-and-neck enough to bump each other even though they are different books and different characters.
  25. The Space Adventures #27 is from the White Mountain pedigree and is amazing in hand. That actually got me interested in trying to find more pedigree books in the title. And lo-and-behold this book showed up on eBay the day I left to return to Europe (so it sits waiting for me to pickup at the house on my next visit). Space Adventures #28 is from the Big Apple pedigree, and while it's only an 8.5 it has great colors.
