  1. Here's a question for DD fans...I was reorganizing my collection and I flipped through a DD #11...It almost looks like his suit was still yellow and instead of drawing him in the red suit they just inked over the old yellow suit in red. Now I know they changed to the red suit in DD #7. But is it possible they still had art work in the yellow suit and just inked over it in red to save money? Or do I just have a copy where the red ink was a production flaw. I will have to post pics later
  2. Just bought a nice run of Strange Tales and a couple of Dr. Strange books from Sam, price was right and the grades were accurate. Would'nt hesitate to buy from him again. Thanks greg
  3. Mike bought a ASM #14 from me fast payment and friendly to deal with I'd recommend him to anyone on the boards Thanks Greg

  6. This whole AF 15 find makes me laugh I am glad so many of you would'nt take advantage of the seller, becasue the truth is most of us will never be in this position to find anything of such value just lying around someones garage. So its easy to say your would have offered him fair compensation and told him how much it was worth. people have a made it a business of going to yard sales buying stuff cheap and then reselling it for more. So being stared in the face with an expensive item going for pennies is a dream for most "pickers" Which is the whole point for most yard sale veterans I highly doubt most collectors would'nt take the AF 15 for 30 bucks and run away as fast as you could. Has anyone considered this? .....What if the buyer said 30 bucks is not enough let me give you $100, $500 or $1000 don't you think the light bulb would go off in the sellers head and he would'nt sell it. I think you can say what you want right or wrong. Its not a life or death decision. The error here was telling anyone about it. Not paying 30 bucks
  7. I found a beater copy of ASM #129 at the K of C swap meet about a month ago. Cover is in nice shape but rough on the spine. I bought a few VG Two Gun Kid and Rawhide Kid 12 centers and a NM Hulk 377 for 17 bucks. The ASM 129 looked to be in better condition at first glance. I was looking through a few longboxes of junk picking a few out and the guy says I have a few others in the car . He pulled out the #129 I nearly had a cow. Still a 40 to 50 dollar comic in the shape it was in... Funny part was I had just sent my ASM #129 to C link for auction I was happy to find a place holder copy and a reader.
  8. Wow rhat would be a hell of a restoration If I had that book. I'd get it framed and matted as is and use archival UV protective glass. Nice Purple or Royal Blue mat that book would pop, Instant art Save the cash spent on resto and put it towards buying a nicer copy. I have 4 framed and matted early FF issues I had them done about 20 years ago the things still look great. I'll have to get apic
  9. I think some of the reasons are. Fantastic Four had a Sci Fi / space exploration slant to it and that was very popular in the early 60s, they were regular people and had regular problems readers could relate to, best Villian in Dr. Doom. The Xmen was a social commentary ie excepting people for their differences was a main theme, charecters were genetic mutants, lead by a guy in a wheel chair while I like the Xmen they just seemed a little far fetched Thats my take on it..
  10. Very nice. FF is the bomb. Are you still looking for a 1,2 and 4? Yeah I am still working on 1, 2, and 4. The rest of my 1-100 is nearly complete I think I need about 10 issues .Those early issues are going to be tough I'd love to find a #1 in VG to Fine grade that won't break the bank Kind of kicking myself there was a real nice slabbed #4 3.0 copy on e bay for a decent price. Clean cover with no chipping presented well. I should have jumped on it. I am working on picking up a nice # 11 from a board member I need a #17 and # 27 and a #35 to finish out the first 50 of the run
  11. A few more FF #9 Another soon to be graded bought from Ted at Superworld as F VF FF#12 2.5 SS FF #13 5.0 FF#14 4.5 FF#19 6.0 thats all for now thanks for taking a look
  12. Thought I would add some of my books to the thread FF is my favorite title. Sorry if they came out huge still figuring out how to crop FF#3 2.5 [/img] FF# 5 Soon to be graded should be about 5.0 to 6.0 from Metrpolis as 5.5 great gloss and white pages FF#6 3.0 FF#7 6.5 FF#8 5.5
  13. As it has been said buying CGC graded issues insures that there is no restoration. Last thing I want to do is drop big coin on restored books. I only want original stuff I have been putting together a FF run 1-100...3,5,6 - 30 and 48 - 50 are all CGC slabs then I have bought nice raw examples filling out the rest of the run. I look for low grade cgc slabs the have nice cover appeal and good pg quality. Kind of pissed I did'nt jump on a nice FF #4 3.0 had a clean cover with no chipping it just sold on E bay. I am putting the collection together for the enjoment of completeing a nice run not the over alll value of the run. So depending on what your focus and mind set is why not buy lower grade slabbed copies
