  1. I tried that same results. Unless there is some magic setting I think some inner wells are just messed up some are not
  2. Nice! Real cool story! What was the price? And do you kick yourself for not also buying the FF 1??? WOW that looks like a HG copy slab it it might be top graded copy nice ROI on $250 buck investment. I'd love to find a nice copy. Funny thing about Pre Hero's is this monster appeared about 5 different times under different aliases. Until they came up with a kick azz name (thumbs u
  3. Okay so here is a question for the scanner Guru's..I bought an older technology CDC HP 8300 flat bed the thing works great. However some scans come out perfect while on others the inner holder shows almost like it is not flat Here are some scans any ideas on a fix? Change settings? So I opened the scanner and pressed down firmly and evenly on the case with my hands that's the ticket... Not good [/img] bad [/img]
  4. Bought this a while ago just got around to scanning it. One of my favorite early covers. Love the Things commentary on life in general
  5. Love this book. It would be better with Doc on the cover. But I love the torch and old paste pot pete
  6. Awesome I bought a few pages of the damned as well can't wait to get them in
  7. So what driver did you download for the HP 8300? I got mine a couple weeks ago still playing around with settings thanks
  8. I bougt a used/ refurbished HP 8300 which uses CDC scan imaging which is better than the LED scanners. I bought a Brother all in one with the LED scanner and it went right back in the box and returned after a bunch of bad scans with terrible glare thhat could not be fixed. My advice is avoid the newer LED scanners. I still have to figure out settings for actual color as some books look great and others don't
  9. Yeah hilarious when it happens to someone else ...Not so funny when it happens to you. Let me tell you how I know
  10. While holding multiples of WD #1 might be risky long term. I fully intend on hanging on to my 2 copies long term and seeing what happens. If they reach stupid prices like 5 grand or more I would have to think about moving them. Even after the show goes away I fully expect a movie. That will capatilize on the popularity..The Genre is popular as ever and Walking Dead name sort of has become the kleenex of Zombies You think NBC has not noticed what is going on? Sixth Gun pilot ring a bell
  11. Joe just bought a few big books from me great transaction easy to deal with would recommend him to anyone Thanks Greg
  12. Even if we know the print run was 7000 something...That does not take into account books that were thrown out or had defects off the rack. So black vs.white does not matter as much as how many are left in high grade 9.6 or better then how many whites and black labels out of that is the question? Even if you say 10 or 20 % were either damaged on the rack/ mishandled or beat up or chucked out now you are looking at 6300 to 5600.
  13. brings back some memories. As a pre teen/teen I had one long box of comics in the closet many treasures were hidden in that long box aside from comics. We swiped them from a neighbors house but that is a story for another time
  14. So I just bought a Brother all in one scanner i think its going back. It keeps on picking up glare from the slabs and does not have any real settings to change. Its hit or miss on the scans some books come out great while other look like garbage. I want something that is easy to use and insufficiently_thoughtful_person proof my old POS HP does a better job than this thing. Is the HP scan jet 7400c worth getting? Please give me some feedback Thanks Greg
  15. I've included links below to TOS and TTA galleries on GCD that allow you to see the runs as a whole. TTA has a big drop off in color design quality after issue 10 but TOS seems more consistent throughout. I do feel that Jack got tired of monsters as time went on and that his later covers are not as good. Perhaps that affected the colorist as well? I've never thought that much of Marvel's color design in the 1956 - 1964 timeframe and consider it inferior to DCs. I know that Marie Severin started her career at Marvel as a colorist but not sure when that was and whether it was her or someone else working during the early SA. Her work at EC is absolutely superb, especially 1954-1955, but I don't know that she ever hit that same level later in her career. http://www.comics.org/series/1442/covers/ http://www.comics.org/series/1443/covers/ i love how the basically reused the same Monsters with different names in different titles
  16. Great buyer easy transaction.Would do bizznes with Andy again (thumbs u
  17. That book looks real familiar was that on Ted's site? I was supposed to go look at it 2 weeks ago and the weather killed that idea. I'd be interested to see what it grades out at ? Nice pick up

  22. Good question I would say above ground not in the basement where it might be damp, I read somewhere they should be on an interior wall away from windows and changes of temperature. I have my comic room upstairs boxed and on shelves on an interior wall
