  1. Your mistaken BZ, that's a "dian" motorcycle. It wasn't a very well know brand.
  2. I can't think of one. Did they have any? Timely didn't do Christmas, they were too busy fighting the war (and chasing down red ink!)
  3. We've already done that. BZ has posted an update in a while but if you'll look back in this thread you'll see a long list. Oops, my memory is going. I thought we had just done splash pages.
  4. Hey....how many centerfold spreads can we find and what was the first?
  5. (thumbs u Pep Comics... America's fastest growing comic magazine!
  6. If I buy an extensively restored book, I'd rather not see a dust shadow on the cover, having said that, I'd still have to tale the Superman, as much as I love the Whiz cover.
  7. Those Wonderworld comics have some of the greatest cover images. I was at a family gathering and I was showing people those covers and no one cared! Am I alone here with those kind of non-reactions? I mean, I can appreciate what other people collect. Art, guns, coins, toys, etc. but I cannot understand the lack of appreciation by non collectors for some of those truly great cover images. All I ever get are value questions.Drives me mad.
  8. There's always a lot of talk about Batman1 and Action 1 and Superman 1 and Marvel 1 and Detective 27, but I just love the Hell out of Captain America 1. It's the epitomy of everything I love about The Golden Age, yet it doesn't seem to get as much "Price" respect as the other big books. It's by far the best cover, iconic in fact, and the stories are great. Now I'm not saying it should be worth as much as Action 1 or 'Tec 27, but it should come close to some of the others, particularly in HG unrestored. Am I missing anything?
  9. I always thought the nude female figures floating in the fire was pretty cool.
  10. In my top 50 GA covers. One of the best and cleanest covers.
  11. I'm not an expert, but that cover could be made to look really nice. The problem would be the pages, especially around the staples where the rust has eaten away the paper. I'm not sure about the rest of the PQ.
  12. Huzzah! Congratulations the Black Hand. It is Harry Lucey. I'll have the story the to share in a moment. I knew my obsession with MLJ and Archies would pay off big time some day.
  13. The only other one I've ever seen since I started collecting the Gerber cover covers in 2003/2004 was on eBay with a detached cover and amateur resto as I recall and it still went for something like $200. It's like the Rocket 3 where I've only seen one other and it was in worse shape (a Rocket 3 on eBay in Poor sold for more than I could pay at the time). I always like an excuse to show this book off. Picked it up a long time ago and feel very fortunate to have it. Ken Hit, Crack and Smash have some of the best reading and cool covers. I get the feeling that they don't get as much respect as some other books, but I think they're the greatest, with a high level of quality.
  14. Yes. My original image was going to be this one, but I thought someone might recognize the glove. Is that robot sniffing Rex's glove? Kinky.....
  15. Americans have always been too uptight about nudity. Think of all the beautiful covers we would have had even more of, if this wasn't the case.
  16. Vince, if you could videotape this event, and post it as an MPEG in the "General Section", I'll betcha' it will be a very popular thread! (thumbs u Steve Wow, how did you know about all the PM's I've been getting? You're telepathetic, aren't you.
  17. The thing about the glue is I don't know where it is and if it holding the cover on or if it truly can be easily removed. Having said that, my wife would have me castrated if i spent a hundred grand on a comic book unless I could sell it the next day for three hundred grand. Besides, I just don't have the Huevos Rancheros to spend that kind of money without permission.. I wouldn't have the nerve with permission, that's too much money for me.
  18. That's why Blank Hand has such a hand in them!!!! Nice Books; BH & BZ. Blank Hand? Oh gosh, am I shooting blanks?
  19. Still Batman for me, besides, that Marvel has a name written on the cover.
