  1. I use to have one like that. Bought it when I was a kid.Don't know why I ever sold it.
  2. See, if I were Bangzoom, which I'm not, because I just checked my collection and it's pitiful and tiny...but if I were, I'd save the big guns for the end of the show and keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
  3. I think he may have been influenced by George Owsley a bit.
  4. I know it is in the spirit of the times, Dena and all. But I gotta say I liked the old one better. It's the lure of the cult. Speaking of cults....there are many of us on these boards who belong to the Batman Cult, specifically the Detective 27 faction of the Batman cult.... So are you going to: Show us the funny!!!!! ?? Wasn't it already mentioned that BZ didn't have a Suspense 3 an Action 1 and Detective 27? I can't quite remember. Still an amazing collection as it is, with very nice colors on the covers. If he did have any of those and they were from that original owner collection, I bet they are dazzling.
  5. my opinion is that the core of what Brad Savage (KK) talks about has some merit, but this is obscured by his hyperbole and myopism. KK wasn't banned because he promotes the collecting of OA. he was banned because he claims, and continues to claim, that buying comics is a waste of time and only a fool would "invest" in comics. it's all about the $$$$ for KK Ahh, now I remember. I would tend to avoid his post because there was always a lot of fighting.
  6. Does this conversation about original art and it exploding value, vindicate such original art proponents as Krazykat? I missed a lot of his posts, but it seemed like that was all he talked about. Also, are there special needs for the preservation of original artwork? The appeal of original art for me, other than it's historical significance, is that it could be treated as artwork and displayed.
  7. OK, I'm old and I repeat myself a lot...and I'm old....but I just have to repeat myself( a lot ) and say that I bought AF15 off the stand when it came out,all the time wondering what the heck had happened to the title. Having said that, I would choose the AF15 for a variety of reasons, PQ beng one of them.
  8. Richard, I have a copy of the book, but it's without the dust jacket. The best I can do is offer up a picture of the BLB or the serialized version which ran in Argosy All-Story 12/9/22 to 1/20/23. BZ, please ignore the goofy looking guy at left but keep in mind I, er, he is 6 ft. 5 in. This is a HUGE Jeff Jones Tarzan painting done as a commission after he did a calendar of Tarzan images in the late '90s. I got it indirectly through Heritage a few years back. Before getting it I thought comics were the be all and end all. But now I get to wake up every day and stare at this! So there you go....some All-Story please! Here's a shot of the All-Story. Wow December 9th, the date of the Tarzan, is my birthday! You know, I collect book that are in my birth month and year, but to actually see one on the day of my birthday. What a great present that would be.
  9. Love that Superman 17. That and 18 are my favorite Supe war covers.
  10. What you do is have kids, get a bigger house and when they go to college, get married or move out, you take one of their old rooms and use it as your comic book room. At least that's what I thought. I ended up with a walk in closet which my wife still eyes for her potential use.
  11. Very nice! Thank's for sharing with us. I think a lot of us will agree that your passion for the hobby is contagious.
  12. Great cover...great book...and some very good reading!
  13. This is a treat to see BZ. The colors on a lot of these comics rival any pedigree I've seen scans of. How's the overall page quality on most of this collection?
  14. Could it be because they allowed the artwork on their covers to deteriorate to this? I know that with MLJ, many of their top artist went into the service after Pearl Harbor. I'm sure it was true for most other companies. The good artist who weren't able to serve due to age or medical reasons were stretched pretty thin and had to work faster than usual.
  15. Ah, you're gonna go backwards now. That's 1942, but it almost looks like a late 40's horror cover.
