  1. Perhaps a PM next time? The West Coast was barely out of bed.
  2. Aren't most of the perceived issues with PIF is people taking big ticket offerings and offering up drek? Money typically defines drek. True-but drek to me is more Shadowhawk II # 3-now the previous poster can certainly veto, but Chip has made it well known where his income falls. I think he legitimately is trying to offer a package thriftily that's made somewhat of a theme. I think Chip sounds like a great guy and I wish him a quick financial turn-around but I see his offer as a step down compared to the two Spiderman books. I have no veto power so I guess we will just see how things go. I retract what I said. Chip - leave your books up for a day and see how things go. Maybe I'm completely off-base on what people are looking for. I tend to assign value to most things and doing a cost to benefit analyses is part of my everyday life as an Engineer so maybe I take it too far at times. I promise no more comments from me about quality of the offers except to accept the offers I like. I'm cool enough to accept when I need to go another route. I honestly thought you were joking when you posted slagging off his offer and suggesting that he switch it up so quickly.
  3. Unfortunately, you can be the biggest doosh in the universe, but as long as you make the other party whole, off the PL you go. Ridiculous, but those are the rules. Yeah, I can get behind that idea. But the point is that, at least from his point of view, the offended party hadn't been made whole. I don't feel whole after reading about it But he paid the money back, so he gets another chance to be a jerk again ( hopefully he's not, but I've seen too many repeat offenders ). Oh yeah, now that he's refunded the $33.30 that was asked for, I totally agree that anyone should be able to remove him from the PL, regardless of whether the offended party wants him removed or not. I just thought - before I realised that a full refund had been paid - that it was a bit of a slippery slope otherwise if 3rd parties start deciding that he should just drop the $3.30 and remove sslim from the PL without it being paid. Agree that it's arguably a bit petty, but also agree with Jason that sometimes you have to do things on principle.

  5. Just caught up with the subsequent posts. Still don't think people should be unilaterally removing offenders from the PL while the offended party is still unhappy on the basis that they (the remover) think the offended party is being petty. If that's what happened.
  6. The box was an used box from a comic store he had bought from, so he didn't have to pay for it. $4 for bubble wrap? I don't believe him, when I sell stuff I always have boxes and bubble wrap at home that came from other shippings, so I just re-use them without making the buyer pay for box and bubble wrap, and he probably does it too. Also, there wasn't much of it inside the package.. I just make the buyer pay for the shipping price. Also I asked for priority shipping for $39, he agreed, and then sent first class, lying once more on the shipping price. He lied multiple times and behaved like a kid. I think I should receive another $3,30. If I do receive that money I'll be satisfied, because I'll get back the amount he shouldn't have taken from me. However, I won't suggest anybody to deal with him if he does get removed from the PL list. Really? Another $3.30 because you are GUESSING that he didn't have to buy bubble wrap??? Maybe he did, you have no idea. Looks like he made restitution to me. He clearly sent me some used boxes he received before which surely contained bubble wrap. He also buys a lot from the boards, so I think my guessing is right. Also, as I said, the bubble wrap wasn't much. The packages were poor, especially the second and he almost surely lied when he told me about the $4, as he always lied about the shipping costs. However, as I said, I don't feel like I received the total amount I should have been sent back, but I have no decisional power. If you feel to remove him from the PL list do it, if not I won't ask for removal. This is all a mute point now - he was already removed after you posted he gave you a refund. Removed by who? He received a partial refund (in his opinion, anyway).
  7. Believe me when I say he 'bout paper, paper.
  8. Not to harp on, but what is there to get? Chip is right - if someone new comes into the thread and likes the books on offer, they will take them regardless of whether or not someone else has said "If these are still here in X hours, I'm claiming them". You decided in making your rules that 72 hours was an acceptable period of time for an offer to stand. You've said twice now that it's not your intention to get loads of offers going per day. So I don't see what the issue is. The above suggests you think that what happened with the Ducky/Chip offer was a bad thing, and honestly I don't see that it was. As someone else mentioned, the repeated sniping at and belittling of other people's offerings, and pressure to change them before the rules say they have to is far more likely to put off potential new members.
  9. Curious - do you think the integrity of the thread suffered because an offer sat for 48 hours before someone who really wanted it claimed it? You said previously in the thread that the aim isn't necessarily to have 4, 5, 6 offers a day, but to get quality offers up. I'm wondering how that reconciles with the above. To put the question another way: what is the aim of this thread, and how does what happened with Ducky/Chip damage that? I want to involve and entice NEW participants. Those that may be lurking and not jumping in. This last offer/claim did not accomplish that. Ducky had zero intention to try new offers or options as soon as he knew he had two people who would take his current offer. By 1Cool and Chip announcing that after 48 hours - - the only ones benefitting are Ducky and 1Cool/Chip while everyone just sits and waits. I did say I don't want it expect multiple claims a day. I also don't want people gaming the system. I guess as a (so far) non-participating observer it doesn't look to me like "gaming the system" as you put it. If you want people to change up their offers more often, you should probably put it in the rules that they have to make changes after a certain period of time. You've been at pains to remind people to stick to the rules - rightly so, a thread like this needs it - so I'm not sure it's fair to chide people for doing exactly that. Someone who really wanted to claim an offer after 48 hours might well just PM the offeror anyway, so I don't know whether a rule (or convention) that you shouldn't announce it in the thread will actually achieve anything. I think the thread and the idea behind it are good by the way - don't want this post to come off as suggesting otherwise.

  11. Every time I see someone post something like this I want to slap them in the face with a Union Jack. There is tracking. There are plenty of trustworthy non-US boardies. This is a stupid stance to take.
  12. Yeah, hilarious. Women are "whores" if they put on makeup and a tight top and take pictures of themselves. Sorry for the tangent, but that kind of thing really makes me mad.
  13. Also, at the fact that you started your sales threads and THEN came in here to ask what you should be doing, rather than the other way round.
  14. Why don't you just stop trying to sell books? If you really want to be part of the community, then participate in discussions. Stop trying to make money from boardies. I doubt anyone will believe you when you say that you're just trying to give people great deals.
  15. Guys, I would be more than happy to host Kraven on a visit to London. Adam
  16. Mine! Bought it a while ago - Kerry's blog is great. Super Antics
  17. Don't click it if you dont want to know anything new. Seriously. Re your question, I really wouldn't worry:
  18. First issue for a while that I really enjoyed. Good stuff. One very minor complaint though:
  19. Obviously you see both sides of the argument though - I honestly don't have strong feelings about whether or not they go on the PL, HoS or nothing, because sadly I don't think it makes a difference. First of all, many people don't check these lists at all. Secondly, the people that are on them (certainly those in the HoS) are very unlikely to try and sell under the same board IDs anyway. And then you have solarcadet, who has conclusively proved that even if you do use the same ID, it doesn't stop you doing deals. Balham's Finest, You prove my point. Changing my user ID would look like I am trying to hide and clearly someone would figure it out. Im not shilling or publicly selling. The ones that buy or trade with me knows i am on HOS and still do deals. I am not a dealer trying to shill and drive up prices and make an extra buck. HOS and it's lack there of stigma is diluted due to (Non-HOS)shillers openly operating like Symbi. Im curious why the mods let him continue to do that It's also diluted, at least partly, by you posting things like "ner ner ner, you can't do anything to me - look, I'm still doing deals", and "the HoS is meaningless to me" etc. I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea.

And then you have solarcadet, who has conclusively proved that even if you do use the same ID, it doesn't stop you doing deals. Until such a time as being on these lists means something concrete - i.e. being banned from the site, having a HoS custom title, automatic warning when the member posts a sales thread or attempts to buy - it's not going to be effective. And I think the mods have been pretty clear that's not going to happen. Setting out what they did or what they tried to do in detail is better, because then it lets people know what to watch out for. Those reading this thread and the sales discussion thread probably get an idea, but it's not easy for newer boardies.
  21. +1 Kevin. He tried and tried and tried to weasel his way out of it. Now that he's busted, he's disappeard - no apology, no explanation, no plea for forgiveness. Also see the evidence that he was banned from another forum. I don't particularly care whether he's in the HoS or not, as it's become pretty meaningless, but for me this is one of the worst examples of on-board scamming I've seen.
