  1. Jay, what do you mean they have no protection from the board? Surely whatever protections exist on the board (and I'm not sure that there is anything beyond the usual Paypal/CC cover) are available to buyers regardless of whether the person they buy from is on a list or not?
  2. I'm pretty sure we've heard this somewhere before. Wasn't it "3 months " (i.e. 10 days) last time?
  3. It's on sale right now on eBay UK - LINK. Looks like the seller (assuming it's the same guy) still wants the same amount. £3000 is just over $5k at today's rates.
  4. Some thoughts about the events of issue 125 and what's to come in 126:
  5. The kind of escrow you're talking about might be a good idea for very high value books, but realistically nobody is going to buy one of those from a completely unknown member anyway. For lower values, some combination of boardies vouching for each other, Paypal protection and use of common sense usually works OK. There have been some instances of boardies being actually scammed and losing money without any resolution, but given the number of sales that take place on the boards, both publically and via PM, those are few and far between.
  6. Not even close. There have been plenty of instances of people with many more posts than that being "bad".
  7. Here's a pic of the last page. DO NOT click on this unless you are prepared to see a major spoiler.
  8. The bare bones of the plot sound very similar to Scalped, don't you think? Prodigal son returns to a home that he never thought he'd come back to, confronts evil authoritarian figure while wrestling with the ghosts of his parents? I don't doubt that it will go in a very different direction - I mean, the protagonists seem to be very different characters, for one thing. But the similarities do seem striking at this point.
  9. I like Negan better than Rick at this point. Haven't read #125 yet, so no spoilering here, but I sincerely hope he doesn't die in this issue (or this arc, or at all).
  10. It's not Walking Dead related. It's a heavy spoiler for a non-DC, non-Marvel and non-Image book.
  11. I am 100% behind this already. The fetishisation of the South in fiction continues! Seriously though, after Scalped I will pretty much read any non-superhero book that Jason Aaron writes.
  12. Timing it so your book is set to be finalized when all the top graders are not around to do so is gaming the system, unless you want to think it was a coincidence. It shows that the person was pretty familiar with CGCs workings and from that I think it shows he is a pretty heavy submitter. Sending a newbie friend here to say the submitter was aware of this but don't see the need to respond, if true, is just weak. The "top graders"? If the people who are in the office can't be relied on to detect resto and grade appropriately, then they shouldn't be allowed near the books. What might make sense is to require the sign off of one of the most senior people for books over a particular value, but detecting trimming is different.
  13. I didn't ask, and we weren't talking about prices or popularity of the book or anything like that - he just volunteered the info. Think it was in the context of what he was going to do after the 60 issues are up.
  14. Oh, actually, one more piece of info - he did say that interest in the cartoon was heating up again...
  15. Apropros of nothing, I'd just like to mention that I wandered up to John's table at LSCC towards the end of Saturday when there was nobody there, and had a good chat with him. Seems like a thoroughly nice guy. He mentioned that there will never be a Chew blank - probably no surprise, but thought some might be interested to know!
