  1. It’s legit in that that’s what happens with double covers on squarebound books like that - they’re always loose. But no idea if CGC will grade it since it’s loose.
  2. You could be right, but the sheer rarity and the quest for a complete set of EC's could run one up at any time.
  3. Agreed on the tryout issues. I also think a high grade Shock Illustrated #3 would be in the conversation. Do GFC's exist of that one?
  4. So, was looking at the Bay, and discovered somebody claiming Looney Tunes #91 was the first appearance of Wile E. Coyote (as Kelsey Coyote). On the face of this, this seems wrong, not just for the obvious complaints, but because the issue is cover dated May 1949- several months before Wile E. made his debut on September 17, 1949, in Fast and Furry-ous. (Which turns 72 just this week, a neat coincidence.) But the seller even got CGC to recognize it on the cover, so I thought I should pull my copy out just in case. To my surprise, it's a far better argument argument than I expected. Given the time frame, the cartoon had to be well into production when the comic was created, and they were clearly using Wile's model sheet for the design in the comic. Given the difference in name, attitude, and environment, it's NOT Wile in my opinion... but it is the first appearance of the classic Looney Tunes Coyote design, predating even Fast and Furry-ous. So it deserves some attention, I think... I'm just not sure how much. Significantly less than the $549 the seller is trying to get for a 5.0, certainly; but it probably should be broken out of the run. What do others think?
  5. Did he do the interior as well, or just the cover?
  6. Not sure how I have them currently - they’re both in storage- but I’ve flipped back and forth on both of them in the past.
  7. Looking for that one myself once I finish paying off the Vampirella #1
  8. Going to wait until I hear dates for Emerald City 2022, but will probably go
  9. Any interesting results from the auction at the show this weekend?
  10. My well-loved copy (which I've had since the 70's and is one of my 30 or so oldest original owner books) has the blank UPC. The GCD doesn't even show the Diamond/UPC variant, I suspect it's significantly rarer but have no solid evidence. Edit, 2 minutes later: a glance at the bay tells me that it's not rarer.
  11. I would agree that inspired is more accurate than swiped, but I also think there are enough similarities that it's very probably a deliberate inspiration rather than unconscious.
  12. A bit of an aside, what book did you want slabbed backwards? The two I can think of where I might want that would be Starslayer #2 or Caliber Presents #1, but I'm sure there are others.
  13. Not disagreeing... just suggesting that this particular cover is less well known. Unlike the other Blazing Combat covers, I don't think it was ever reused on another magazine or comic.
  14. I think Weird Fantasy may have more of the absolute classic stories compared to Weird Science. I know my personal favorite- There Will Come Soft Rains- was in WF.
  15. I favor Weird Science over Weird Fantasy in general for the covers; it's all down to the incredible Wally Wood covers on the later part of the run.
  16. Good catch, Foggy! I think you're right but I've never seen it mentioned before. (Composite image created from two images swiped from the internet, I don't own either book:)
  17. In today. Not one of Frazetta's better-known Warren covers, I think:
  18. In today. Some dents and the slight, color-breaking crease in the lower right corner hammer the technical grade on this one, so it was cheap. But I suspect this was an inventory copy because other than the dents and crease it's razor-sharp and blindingly glossy
  19. Bronze, not gold... but I figured this page needed a bump, and it's a nice copy of the first Gold Key issue:
  20. Not as nice a #33 as the #35 I got a few weeks ago, but still an upgrade from my other copy of #33. Still need to track down #34...
  21. Those White Wolf Eternal Champions get really hard to find the last few volumes. You know there's one volume that came out in the corresponding UK series from Millennium that wasn't in the US series, right? The New Nature of the Catastrophe. (There are also a couple volumes in the White Wolf series that weren't in the UK version.)
  22. Leaning heavily towards sun, but I agree a picture of the back would make it much more certain.
  23. The sort of well-loved copy I love seeing. I need to see if I can find mine in storage this weekend...
  24. Spotted on a gentleman’s leg today. (I did ask for and receive permission to post the photo)
  25. So, not actually a magazine and not mine, but saw this on a gentleman’s leg today. He seemed pleased when I actually identified them as Uncle Creepy and Cousin Eerie, apparently that doesn’t happen often. (I did ask for and receive permission to post the picture from him)
