Kirby Green Arrow, anybody? Only need the #251 for the full run of the Kirby Green Arrow stories, I've got the World's Finest 96-99 already:

This one has been blowing up the past month or so once people finally realized it predates Star Wars 39-44, figured I should grab it for my treasury collection before it becomes impossible:

I'll pound you to a "Pulp" if you don't show off yours!

No less an authority than Issac Asimov described that book as one of the three most important debuts in Science Fiction history; along with "A Martian Odyssey" by Weinbaum and Heinlein's body of work his first year. And he was talking about EE "Doc" Smith and Skylark of Space, not Buck Rogers! This book isn't as expensive as some other pulps just because it's more common than a lot of others, given how dedicated the SF collectors were even back then. But in terms of actual impact on popular culture, it's hard to say it isn't one of the top 10 or so books of the 20th century. An awesome pickup, even with the writing. -
Not even close. Barks ducks? Cool funny animal titles. Walt Kelly Pogo (and others)? Cool funny animal titles. Sheldon Mayer DC funny animals? Cool funny animal titles. I will freely grant they haven't kept up with the superhero or horror books in demand, but there are a lot of genuine classics in the genre.

5 more. I think Shock 6 & 7 are both 'official' classic covers, and the other three are all pretty impressive as well:

The store does have a one per customer limit. But when I showed them your post, they let me grab another one. I'll PM you in a couple minutes. -

One local store had a lot of shelf copies of the standard version of High Republic #1, considering they’ve already announced a third print. -

Got my scanner up and running again, so here are my recent pickups... starting with better images of the two I just had photos of a couple weeks ago:

That is a beautiful copy of a beautiful book. Most of my EC's are from the last 2-3 years at most, and right now I've got almost exactly half of the new trend and new direction books. Hopefully I'll be able to finish Shock Suspenstories this year; after that the big project is Weird Science and Weird Fantasy. EC remains better than 99% of all the comics ever published. I don't know that they could have done that much more in their old format by the time they were forced out; honestly... they took what they did about as far as possible, I suspect. But there has never been a publisher-wide level of quality that was even remotely like what EC managed for about five years.

The next five. I really think the Psychoanalysis #3 cover is underrated. And then we get into the Shock Suspenstories covers, which are pretty uniformly great, even if I don't think #2 or #3 are particularly standout classics:

I wouldn't argue with the idea that Kurtzman's solo work is better on his war than his humor. I think when he did layouts for humor for Elder or Wood or Davis to finish he was utterly brilliant, but I wouldn't disagree that his solo style worked better on the dramatic than the comedy. (I still think his solo humor is great, just not as good as the other two cases.)

I'm still hoping to get a #2. I'm missing 1, 2, 15, and 19; and my copies of 12 and 14 are coverless. I've also got a spare coverless copy of #13. I figure the 2, 12, 14, and 15 are all getable still, but the 1 and 19 are probably hopeless. My copies are almost uniformly low grade, but they've become a lot harder to find at all the last few years.
