Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
OtherEric replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Spidey Super Stories was always ad-free, other than a subscription ad. So cheaper per page of content, but higher cover price. I think the book is legitimately the first use of the Spider-Woman name by Marvel. But it's stretching things beyond the breaking point to claim any meaningful connection to Jessica Drew or any other characters using the name. I'll even argue Spidey Super Stories is, in general, an underrated title. It's not nearly that underrated. -
The Unofficial Underground Comix thread...

I wish I had anything to say; but all I've got is He will be missed. An amazing creator. -
I would ask in the Pulp section as well as here. Photos of the book would help immensely.

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...

That's the only explanation i can think of, honestly. I'm moving stuff to storage because of a fire in my building or I would dig out my copy to share a couple pages for reference -
Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?
OtherEric replied to Reno McCoy's topic in Pulp Magazines
That blurb is hilarious... Because it comes not from a review, but from the hype for its original magazine publication. It was the lead story in the first issue of UNKNOWN. -
For some reason she reminds me of the tightrope walker portrait in the Haunted Mansion stretching gallery. On my tablet so I can't get a good picture to post for comparison.

Thank you... and everyone... for your well wishes. I definitely wound up with best case scenario for “home rendered uninhabitable by fire”, four of the units were pretty much totaled. But best case is still pretty ugly. I need to look for a fireproof safe for my best books once this is dealt with

I'm thinking of putting together a "The really good stuff" box, but I have too many books to store with somebody. And thank you.

So, there was a fire in my apartment building earlier this week. Everybody is safe, and I'm one of the lucky ones in that my stuff was undamaged. But don't be surprised if you don't hear from me much for a few days as I try to find a new apartment, as my complex is full and the building has roof damage that means I can't stay here. I'm fine in the short and long term, but medium term will be a pain in the for a bit: Why am I mentioning it in this thread? Because I'm moving at least a few boxes of books I normally keep at home to my storage unit, and that includes the EC's. Here's a few favorite EC covers for fun, it will be a bit before I can get any more for obvious reasons.

Those OotW issues sound like they went somewhere between what you have them at and what Overstreet has them at, one of the only pulps they list. But that one I understand some of the confusion if there were crossover bidders from comics. I think the Dec '37 Weird Tales is one of only two pulps I've ever bought just for the cover; I can easily see it being one of the first issues the comic crossover crowd latches on to.

Found at a local store yesterday. Not really that fragile, as the seller marked it, just worn. Supple pages:

Spine roll, chipped edge, still presents nicely... you may get a PM from me in a week and a half when i get my holiday bonus if you’re serious about selling, that’s exactly the sort of copy I’m looking for and could possibly still afford.

Jose Luis Garcia Lopez is SO underrated... not so much that people who know him underrate him as so many people just don't know his work.

A few cheap issues from MCS; I don't care enough about most of the issues 217-up to spend much on them but I'll grab them cheap still. 177 and 198 are the 1st and 4th Immortal Man appearances

A couple more in today. The lot actually included a redundant (for me) copy of Queen of the Nile #1, as well:

Another Super Special in today. It makes me happy that the last Super Special went back to a Marvel property, even if indirectly:
