  1. I I actually follow @Get Marwood & I, since they have a lot of different interesting threads on various variants. Somewhat ironically, I missed the notice they had started this thread...
  2. One issue I've noticed that I'm not sure is on the list yet: I've been getting notifications for followed threads but not followed members.
  3. One book just in, one book that's not actually by Dave but that I think will interest people here anyway. I also got in three books from Verotika with Stevens covers, but can't share those here:
  4. And it looks like they replaced the missing images but lost those posted in the last day or so. I've reposted the Aces High in my earlier post; we'll see if they stick around.
  5. LCS pickup today; I've got a few more to scan & share that arrived during the emergency move that I'll get to soon:
  6. That definitely influenced the decision! Some holiday pricing made it quite attractive as well, it's obviously not high grade but it looks great in hand.
  7. That cover shows just how great Kurtzman really was... the quip from the one soldier is very much in the vein of typical war comic dialogue; but the terror on the face of the running soldier and the fear in the eyes of the speaking one, even as he makes the crack, turns this into something completely different.
  8. Well, if the old pics aren't visible, time to start reposting, then! Not that any of us really need an excuse that much! Just going to go alphabetically, a few issues a day. If others start reposting as well (and I HIGHLY encourage it), pick some other order so we have a nice variety:
  9. Picked up this Space Glider Micronaut a couple weeks ago, it's from the early 2000's Palisades revival. My problem is the shoulder joint broke when I tried to reposition the arm; I've got it wired in place for now. The joint pin was what broke, the actual arm and shoulder pieces are fine (although the shoulder doesn't want to swivel, but I can live with that.) Anybody know a better way to fix the shoulder? It doesn't look too bad for display purposes, and was fairly cheap, so I'm not too worried about it overall. But thought somebody here might know a simple solution.
  10. I don't have that many of the actual Master of Kung Fu issues... But my collection isn't without the character:
  11. What sort of project? How big? One that I've enjoyed a few times is "pick a classic series/ storyline" and put together the original publications. I'm pretty sure you've already done that with "I, Robot"; I'm close to done with that for Bradbury's "The Martian Chronicles" and have most of the pulps for Heinlein's "The Past Through Tomorrow". (Missing most of the slicks still, though). Or, for a similar project in the digest era, I've gathered all I can discover of uncollected Harlan Ellison SF.
  12. Last issue I need for the run, given that #10 does not exist. Is there a general Whitman topic somewhere? It seems like we have several for DC Whitmans but not one for Whitman Whitmans:
  13. Thank you for including the Buster Crabbe #5, I've been saying for years it should be considered part of the set just as much as the WSF #29.
  14. Been a fan ever since the 70's TV show. I won't argue with @catman76 that the show was significantly flawed, but I loved it back then. Definitely prefer stuff like this, although I do collect the Whitman comic based on the TV show as well:
  15. I think most people would agree the WSF is the better cover, actually. But I also think it's more common and it's definitely more affordable.
  16. I would have expected you to offer to protect the SSS 6 before the WSF 29...
  17. And the boxes with the biggest books are safely in the new apartment; it already feels more like home:
  18. A couple recent pickups, both non-ratio variants:
  19. Because books written for kids just learning to read, done in the most 70's style possible, deliberately trying to introduce said young readers to new characters and aspects of the Marvel universe in every issue, and featuring the characters from the Electric Company, is a recipe for one of the most awesomely deranged comics ever created. The Thanos Coptor, while admittedly a high point, really isn't that much weirder than a typical issue. I love the whole series, and it features a lot of early appearances of characters shortly after they first appear In other books. In fact, if anybody else ever releases another comic with a drawing of Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader on the cover of every issue, I'll buy that series as well!
  20. Same as any other Double Cover, I presume; only it happened exactly as they were changing plates from the Direct Editions to the Newsstand Editions.
  21. For the nickle it's worth, I SUSPECT this particular oddball was actually direct, not newsstand in terms of where it was actually distributed. I bought it when it was maybe 3-4 years old, and knowing the store I got it from and the condition I suspect it was former shelf stock. But that's just an informed guess.
  22. An all-time great cover for an all-time great album. RIP.
  23. Sorry about the delay. I'm marking this down as one of the very few good things about the apartment fire: It finally turned back up!
