  1. Great choice for a grail, great cover. Congrats.
  2. It'll be like The Simpsons halloween episode when Homer, having eaten the "soul donut" goes to hell (ironic punishment division). "So you like accumulating comic books, do you? Why don't you own every (worthless) comic ever printed? The trouble is you won't have the capital to warehouse them and nobody will be interested in any of them!! You'll lose your shirt!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!"
  3. I enjoy a good self-defeating argument, especially when the debater hasn't even bothered to define what market he's referring to. If everything shuts down as you say then the market will be microscopic, with Mr. Rozanski sitting atop the biggest pile of comics in the world...with no-one to sell them to. Which means that the consequence of dumping millions of books will be non-existent, just as the original purchase of said books is. In other words there is no market for Chuck's vast tranche of books. At the end of the day just because you've got a commodity it doesn't mean that you can control the price of it if people still have the option to walk away. Nor can you create a market without the assent of collectors. I hope that he continues with his quest, of course.
  4. I find this interesting and I have to wonder if Chuck may be reading this thread. I decided to go back and check the prices on the books I originally looked at when I began this thread. They were as follows.... Action #244 in Fair for $123 (minus 60%) and the total cost is $49.20 Tonight that book is now listed at $30.00 Action #244 in Good for $245 (minus 60%) for $98.00 Now - $60 Action #246 in Fair for $123 (minus 60%) for $49.20 Now - $30 Action #246 in Good for $245 (minus 60%) for $98.00 Now - $60 Action #249 in VG for $441 (minus 60%) for $176.40 Now - $120 Action #250 in Good for $240 (minus 60%) for $96.00 Now - $60 I will say this is a step in the right direction. Just another 50% off and he'll be halfway there.
  5. I just block all the eBay DVD / photocopy sellers from my searches. Easy enough to do.
  6. You really need to read the FF 52 thread. And you may also want to read the GL 76 thread in the BA forum. Yes, there are some post-1965 issues that are relatively scarce in 9.8, but they never turn out to be all that scarce once there is some real financial incentive for more copies to appear. There is certainly an incentive to slab 126 in the hopes of getting a 9.8. I bought the second 9.8 raw, graded it and sold it for $18,000 years ago. Golf clap BOB BROKERED THE SALE FOR ME. Happy now, Your Surliness?
  7. Bought a couple of books - a slabbed Atlas war book and a 10 cent DC. Both great, packing was excellent and the books shipped fast. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from again.
  8. Never spotted the (obvious) similarity between the Beware Terror Tales and the Chamber Of Chills.
  9. And the price doesn't seem completely unreasonable fir a blue label 5.0 either. Chump change.
  10. Great stuff and one of my favourite PCH books.
  11. Great cover which is somewhat overshadowed by a couple of others that came just before it. Nice copy too, with strong colors and nice PQ.
  12. Crazy, crazy price. Probably went to a guy who has been looking for 5+ years for the right copy, loves pre-code horror and Maurice Whitman art and was tired of this particular hole in his collection. Betting this guy saw the book and decided that, just this one time, he was going to bid to win even though it goes against his somewhat cheap nature because he knows he hasn't had many (any) shots at similar copies despite looking hard. Just guessing. Pure speculation.
  13. Bought a very nice copy of Marvel Mystery Comics 44 from Richard. Great communication, careful packing, and it arrived in 24 hours transatlantic. Couldn't ask for more.

Can't understand why those auctions didn't come up under my searches. Either way, too pricey. I think I know what it is Andy. From my experience it seems that the Ebay search engine wont show listings to a UK searcher if the listing does not include international shipping. The only way around it as far as I know is to add specific items or titles to your search list and they'll be included in an email regardless. That will show the individual listing, and youcan visit it, but you still wont be able to search the sellers listings - or at least not the ones that don't designate international shipping. That's often the case, Mike - the powers at eBay have deemed it a good idea to remove such listings from searches if you're outside the U.S. But the seller in this case did offer international shipping. Odd indeed.

  16. Could anyone provide a link to one of the auctions?
  17. The word is awesome. yes captain.... At ease lieutenant...
  18. Ultra - smooth transaction - the book (a Strange Tales 101) was superbly packed and well-graded, and arrived quickly. A+!
