  1. Its not even a 10 There is a 9.9 copy of this book, fwiw. However that book is a scorcher - the nicest copy I've seen.
  2. Fave band here as well. Just got back from a trip with the BBC sessions CDs keeping me going. Blistering stuff.
  3. Beware 9, from May 1954 (if in doubt, there's always the rather awesome Grand Comics Database). It's pre-code all right. The absence of a certain Comics Code Authority stamp in the top right corner also confirms that. Plus the mention of a vampire, a skeleton driver, the words "weird" and "eerie" on the cover, etc. all definitely verboten post-code (well, until the early 1970s at least). Thank you. I bought it with no research outside of looking at the cover and thinking it looked pretty cool. It's a pretty good title, and no serious PCH collector would ignore this series (and the Youthful run of three issues). I have the complete set, and I'd rate at least a third of the books as classics.

  5. Deduct yet another 50% off and it's a deal.
  6. #15 is my favourite of the three as well. It's more of an eye-catching cover for me as it's got an unusual colour scheme and perspective. It's also a got a greytone feel to it. Not they the others aren't great as well...
  7. ASM 361, the first Carnage ish. The title had been on the downturn for some time, but this was pretty tired stuff, despite its popularity. Led to even worse things, especially Maximum Carnage, which was horrendous.
  8. So then would it be safe to say my recent pickup of Venus 18 cgc 5.0 was a steal at $800?? I'm not sure how the two books are connected, although I will say that you can't go wrong buying Venus 17 - 19, which are fabulous books. Especially at a reasonable price such as that one.
  9. It's a tough book in nearly all grades, but it did end up going for above expectations.
  10. Not really. .....that's easy for you to say..... with all of London twinkling beneath your lofty spire GOD BLESS..... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) Finding worthwhile deals of any sort in London is getting almost impossible these days...
  11. Book ordered from Amazon UK. I'll be getting it tomorrow. Sometimes this social networking thing works - when the book in question is obviously worth perusing. Definitely shades of Seth, Clowes, Pekar, etc., so right up my street.
  12. Thanks. I paid a lot, but I love the cover. Great book....and great books don't come cheap these days. Amen.
  13. Never seen many copies of that book in 9.4. Stunning book.
  14. Shock's "preachies" stories still pack an almighty punch. Enjoy, but watch out for that E.C. fan addiction!
  15. For a 2.0 / 2.5 copy? Absurd. The seller describes the spine as being completely split ( or appears split, which really means the cover isn't attached and he's just trying to cover his ). That wouldn't grade higher then a 1.0 on a good day given the terrible condition even without the spine split. I didn't read the blurb. Agreed, it can't be higher than a 1.0.
