  1. Is your character defined by the things you do, or by the things people say about the things you do?
  2. Look man, we all think the situation stinks and I'm sure most, if not all, of us think that you deserve to be compensated. That's not the issue. Charging in dropping F-bombs and threatening lawsuits before you've given them enough time to assess the situation is not going to win you any sympathy from any rational person. It's just not a healthy way to go about things. Be patient. Be kind. Perhaps even apologize (OH THE THOUGHT) for they way you spoke to them on the phone. Explain the situation like an adult and see what they do. If you're not happy, pursue other options. I've found that F-bombs and threats rarely get you anywhere in the adult world...at least not anywhere you really want to be.
  3. I suggest you read the CGC Service Terms and Conditions that you agreed to follow when submitting your books. Pay attention to number five. READ ALL ABOUT IT No one is saying that your situation isn't terribly unfortunate. I think we're all a little taken back by your attitude and behavior. I've done a lot of business with the CGC, and sometimes just happens. After all, that's why insurance companies exist. Just yesterday, for example, I found out that one of my sketch covers came back as a green label when the proper paperwork was submitted for the yellow label. Over the last six weeks, I've been dealing with a $5,000 comic sitting in Sarasota, awaiting a reholder. Meanwhile, I have a customer who has already paid. Fortunately, his attitude is the opposite of yours. He understands that sometimes things get backed up, especially during convention season. I called the CGC three times, and never once did I raise my voice or drop F-bombs. I'm not trying to be high and mighty here but, really man, maybe it's time to grow up a little and change your 'tude?
  4. None. Dropping F-bombs is not how professionals do business. It's also not how adults behave in the business world. The fact that you feel "entitled to use several" speaks volumes about your demeanor. Nope. Character assassination and character suicide are two different things.
  5. Just use the following steps: 1. Jam your thumb into the side of the slab 2. While your thumb is in there, be sure to press down on the inner slab 3. Call the CGC and drop "F-bombs" until you get Patel, then drop more "F-bombs." 4. Go to the message board, seek sympathy, discuss your bad behavior, and threaten to sue the CGC.
  6. If a doctor purposefully cuts off your arm, is it all better once he surgically reattaches it? For me, the mystery man's behavior is already egregious enough to warrant our avoidance, no matter what happens moving forward. As Lady Macbeth would say, "What's done cannot be undone."
  7. "That's a no-go..." "He started to get upset." OH MAN...would I tell that guy to go pound sand!
  8. What would I do if a friend asked me to purchase books for him? 1. I would ask my friend for the money first, at the very least. 2. I would likely direct my friend to a dealer, then suggest he have the comics shipped to his place of employment if he is too afraid of his wife to have it shipped to his house. The unnamed boardie was probably trying to rip off his "friend" by pulling the typical middle-man surcharge scam. Or maybe the unnamed boardie isn't involved with a third-party after all? Too many logical ways out of this mess. Whoever you are out there, why don't you go through a reasonable return process instead of having it returned to the sender on his dime, especially after he spent the time to grade, scan, and pack the books? BETTER YET, why don't you keep the books you paid for in good faith? Duke it out with your "friend". Then sell the books here on on eBay to recoup your loss? Very disgusting behavior to go about it the way in which you are going about it.
  9. Also, I'm tired of the "but the wife..." excuse.
  10. Refusing the package is a dishonest, threatening move...regardless of what happens via PayPal.
  11. I think that he is basically threatening you in order to get a refund. That's the part that angers me the most. Disgusting.
  12. Looks like I'll be adding NO THIRD PARTY SALES to my sales thread rules. It's a shame you have to write an essay just to cover your own tail... and I'm also amazed at how many people don't bother to read the rules of sale in the first place! SMFH
  13. That is HIS problem, not YOUR problem. Please tell me who this is so I can block them.
  14. Communication with David has been friendly, professional, and timely. As a customer, he has patiently waited through some unexpected delays caused by slow response times from both the CGC and the US Postal Service. We arrived at a deal for an expensive book and he cut a personal check for an amount well into the 4 figure range. It cleared with no problem or delay. I look forward to doing business again in the future.
  15. That being said, I will definitely be sending all of my 9.9s back for reholders...along with some of the more valuable (or flat out awesome) issues in the run. I have quite a few unique books that could warrant the white-glove treatment. But as far as going crazy and having everything done? No way.
  16. I am a total nutjob. But like I said, in the end the math wins. For me it's money best spend elsewhere.
  17. I just checked. It would cost $4859 (reholder fees+ invoice fee + return shipping via UPS ground) to have 275 slabs redone. That's NOT including the cost of shipping them TO the CGC, Not to mention all of the packaging supplies that would be required. So, yeah, I could buy a nice Hulk 181 for the price that it would take to get my run serviced.
  18. You're right...not an accurate number. I'd say maybe 50-75 of those are in the new holders. But still...275ish is a lot of money.
  19. I agree BUT... everything would match! And I really do like the new slabs much better. The older ones feel like toys in comparison.
