  1. I hope we see more of the MM and he becomes a mentor to Supergirl. That could set this show over the top. Don't know how much the special effects cost to put him on screen. I read where they said King Shark cost too much to be back on Flash.

Remember back then when they tried to create the first Flash series on TV? They had complained how expensive to create "super speed" effects. And now they are saying how expensive to create King Shark? Wonder what are they saying about "super speed" effects and super-feats now? Too much cost?

All I know is that I wanna see more of that every week! :sumo:

  2. Watched the show last night after a follow-up with last week's show (taped it before). Great effects with Red Tornado and Supergirl fight, the scene of her heat vision with her face in anger was the best I've seen. Right from the comics straight!

:cloud9: then this last night ... At the ending. Hark revealed as Jonn J'onzz? Didn't see that until I watched Hark explained what happened to her father ... I soon realized where it is going. I said no... Way? It was awesome to see him shapeshift into the Martian!

Should I say that could be the beginning of Justice Leaque for TV sometimes in near future? :wishluck:

  3. Today. I had found 2 comics with double covers among the lot I brought from CL. I am only went through 1/3 by inspect and still have more yet to check. What are the odds in finding 2 comics or more?

Which being up another question... What is the value in having double covers in all grades? This is something I don't see in guide given the topic subject. I will take photos to show the ones I found later

  4. Today I picked up a lot of silver/bronze comic books from a guy. He texted me as I had brought some books from him in the past. So he come back to me with more books :D

Nearly most are DC titles... Action Comics, Superman, Batman, Detective and serval more titles. Some assorted comics like Disney, Harvey etc. Photos showing some of what I got...

...And I have lot more, about over 200 books.

  5. I recall that there was one scene while I watched a trailer of Fear TWD. it showed one guy boarding a bus going out on its path to somewhere. Not the chubby kid, but a man with a hood over his head. I get to think after watching the first and second episodes ... might this hooded guy be the "patient Zero" carrying the zombie virus?

After all, the new short series is taken place in L.A. right? TWD series took place in Georgia. As well the same with the other cities. Maybe I'm being silly in thinking that? Hey it's a TV show to have fun watching anyway! Whatever... lol

  6. Press release:

In an effort to drive revenue and attendance at the Wizard World Conventions, we at Wizard are proud to announce that starting as of right now, we will no longer be subject to the fake Superman the nerds cosplay as. Instead, we have secured a two year touring contract with the real Superman! That's right! Over the next two years, you can meet the REAL Superman. He will be available to take pictures and sign autographs (for a nominal fee of course) at every Wizard World Con. This is a big day for us and hopefully for you too! We hope you are as excited as we are!

    -Gareb Shamus

PS - Please come to our shows…please...

Note the bold sentence... doesn't that sound like he's begging us to pay up in attendance? Sig fees? :taptaptap:

  7. [Long time Maryland dealer Gene Carpenter has told me on more than 1 occasion that FF 48's were on his .50 table in the early '70's. He, along other dealers, had dozens and he said while it was a steady seller, no one bought multiple copies.

That's because first appearances weren't that popular back then, and it was the Number One Issues that everyone was after. It wasn't until the mid-80's, when the sportscard dealers invaded comics with their "rookie card" mentality, that first appearances really skyrocketed.

That was possibility true what you said about the "rookie card" mentality back in the mid-80s. I remembered many sportscard dealers tried to enter the comic book collecting community, and added their idea in there. During my collecting days, I was only after #1 issues and full runs, not the 1st appearances.

Then I get the wind of this idea. I took time with my thoughts and realized that there is some value to the idea. So, I begin to check with 1st appearances onward. Now it's everywhere all over gone crazy!

Back to the Star Wars #1 ... yes it was released before the movie come out. I did brought #1 and 2 before I get to see the movie then.

  8. Star Wars 1 was a massively hoarded book since Day One, and every hobbyist knows that. Anyone paying more than $700-800 for a 9.8 copy needs to have their head examined. lol

    This.

Are the two of you sure about this?

I remember the Star Wars comic book did not catch on until issue #3 was out or around the time the movie debuted. I remember Star Wars #1 were already going for $10 or more at the time.

If there was any hoarding done, it was probably not done by the collectors of the day. Sure, there were more copies available in the marketplace afterwards, but these were most likely from unsold initial returns sitting in the distributor's warehouses which were now being actively hunted down.

This was probably one of the first "off the shelf" books to go up in price like that so quickly and was most likely one of the first books to start the subsequent hoarding that would become commonplace with Modern books.

Anybody remember Dazzler #1, now that was a really hoarded book.

This... and THAT! I do remember the days when Star Wars #1 and Dazzler #1. As a kid ... I went for the treasury edition of Star Wars because it was bigger with my $1.00 allowance. Dazzler #1? I remembered watched many people brought in number of 5-10 copies at the comic shop the day it come out.

Actually - as I recalled, the hoarding (of comics) begin earlier back then. :preach:

  9. I used to read them when I was young. Some of my favourites were Scary Tales, Space stories and some odd titles. Six Million Dollar Man was one among these I had read. Now the question which I've been told and wanted to confirm in here.

I was told that the Charltons in the early 1980s were in low print run to the point when they stopped and went gone. Was that true? I have about 50 books here - most are Western theme like Billy The Kid and Gunfighters, some in war theme.

  10. I'm glad the market is back and doing well. I have always enjoyed dealing with this market.

You're lucky to be finding quality books. Around here, I have to deflate about one guy a week on kijiji (craigslist) who thinks they can sell 2000 issues of drek for $5000.

Yes, I see these type of ads by sellers trying to sell their dreks for high dollars on CL and kijiji everyday. There is one guy selling one comic per ad daily :eyeroll:

It's a matter of having patience while sorting out ads online to make a "hit"
