  1. Looks like I will be going to a small local comic con as a co-dealer in partner with my friend in July. Waiting for the coordinator (of the local con) to email me new update and put in request to rent a table. As we will be sharing the cost - I told him we should go for wall table which is $10 more.

Been some years since I last did a show by selling my comics. That is why my friend come to me for help because I had experience. This is his first ever in trying to sell his comics. He got about 4-5 long boxes of derks and few goodies. I told him to start get his boxes filed to nice alphabetical order. They will go under the table (cheap deals) ... mid-level good books with small keys on table. Bigger keys/high grades on wall, of course.

Which come to mind, Anyone local in Vancouver have a wall stand that I can borrow for one show? Thanks (thumbs u

  2. Got a real nice copy off eBay last week. Action Comics #262 was said by seller to be a VF. But upon getting this in my hands ... it looks more like one grade higher with off-white/white pages. Front cover has high gloss with good colors. Did good paid below market value

  3. There was a huge blocks-wide yard sale near my place. They do that every year to support by community funding for the local studium building to keep operating in service. I went by bike to check out. I only find some cheap comics for $1.00 ea - nothing spectacular to say... one is a Rai #2 (early Valiant), one is a Red Circle comics issue.

However, I did found a great bargain - a wall file folder cabinet for $2.00. You know the type where most offices put folders in there for "in" and "out"? That is the one I got, enough about 100 comics to be filed in all folders. That makes a great setup to sell comics. it's 5 ft tall - looks almost brand new. :D

  4. Amazing that you managed to get a reply from Ditko ... that's something not easy to do.

Sad that he is still bitter after all the years. He has his reasons, I guess. I noticed something interesting in his letter... he did say not interested with comic book superhero characters turned into movies or tv series. But what of his other artwork in other comic book companies that he worked with? Charton was one that he did a lot of fantasy/sci-fic stories. I believe Altas is another he worked under also.

Wondering if I wrote to him about these works ... might I have a shot in getting him to sign one of the books? hm

If only I know where to mail the letter! lol

  5. Today - went to 2 yard sales. First one was no good but did find 3 Batman comics with signatures. Second yard sale was lot better. Found Superman #18 (Doomday). Did saw X-Factor series but no #5 & 6! :censored: I got there later and not early. At least I got one box for $20 - about 100 comics spilt with my friend.

The books for $10 in the photo.

  6. To answer your question, Harvey would stamp the first page of the book designating it for there files.

... and raise another question: How many times Harvey would stamp the first page of the book for the "file copies"? Given that we know there are boxloads upon boxloads of file copies out there. I've wondered how they can call them "file copies" when there is nothing to see on first page.

I have many Harvey file copies here. Yes, the earlier the number of titles, harder the copies to be found.

  7. I love clicking on this thread, but I also hate clicking on this thread.

The stacks of 9.8 ASM 300's, Teen Titans 44's, X-Factor 6's, etc. put my Revival #1's to shame.

    Good job, everyone!

lol I enjoy seeing what other people got their comics slabbed. But yeah... this thread can be a love/hate thing when I "click" on it to see. :P

    lollol

  8. So far, Gotham is picking slowly its pace - building a network of story plots between these characters. Now with Harley Quinn stated to make her appearance later - by next November? Should be good.

I do notice that young Bruce is getting deeper in sharping his detective skills to uncover Arkham Asylum issue. I think by around Christmas season - Bruce will make the decision to take further education in detective science course maybe? hm

  9. Hi, While I do not own any Canadian Whites, but I think I have Canadian editions from the 1950s (a few ones somewhere in my boxes). Now I'm interested in trying to get a White in era of 1940s.

Guess I'm going to jump on the wagon with you guys lol

Now there are something I want to know why for these reasons:

    1) How come the Overstreet guide have not add a section for Canadian Whites? My new guide has a feature article talking about the Whites in the war times. But no listings, no database, no established given prices?

Given the scarcity of these Whites. I'd think they earn their own section by now? I want to know the number of Canadian printed comics, scarcity ratio index, and such info.

    2) If I were to buy a White, would a high grade copy be more better than a low grade given its status? Wondering about that.

I will go over my boxes to see if I have the CDL editions sometime this week.

    Thanks.

  10. This week - I got 4 books going into my collection. Not much to say - 2 books from Comiclink that I won off their auction online. I got Superman # 377 Canadian price variant CGC 9.6 white pages, and Adventure Comics # 323 7.0 raw. Paid $44 plus shipping for them.

This was my first time trying out with comiclink auction, and thought that is good experience. Their shipping method was great. I will do more later with comiclink. Funny thing... there is NO sticker on my Superman slab? I had read a thread about how broadies complained about the sticker sticked on their slabs the other day. Mine is clean - like how CGC did the way.

The other 2 books are from a broadie who went to NYCC 2014 con. Love the comic - Little Nemo: Return to Slumberland! I used to read the original sunday comic strips in a volume reprint. Can't wait for issue #2 to come. :headbang:

  11. I don't even understand the point of starting a sales thread without pics, or saying pics are coming.

Personally I don't hit create thread until I have the post completed: rules, titles, prices, pics, etc.

When I see a listing pop up, I just want to see whats for sale, buy something or move on. These 'anticipation' threads are a pain.

    +1

As far as I'm concerned, if there aren't scans the listing doesn't exist.

Way too many defect variations of books in grade, not to mention centering and miscuts.

    Amen.

    Quite true, ahem.

  12. As some of us in true great north knows this weekend is also our Thanksgiving weekend. Today I picked up some parcels with my latest comic books to add into my collection. I'm like a kid at Christmas time! :whee: Or is it Super-Turkey time?

Many thanks to the 2 great boardies - gojira and skypinkblu :foryou:

Gonna be fun reading some of them this weekend!

  13. Communication is ALWAYS key. Life happens. Setting expectations makes everyone stress free.

That line you wrote - this is the SAME IDEA I have and use in practice, this I agree with you.

Unfortunately ... this fellow never replied to my last 2 PMs and that is now over 6 weeks since his last PM received. What happened? Unknown and there had been no update by him since. I'm still waiting for a reply.

    Well, life happens!

  14. I too would like to officially add Ajaxfarrell.

    Here is the recap:

7/16 - I requested 2 clocks and he sent me an invoice.

    7/17 - Payment sent

7/23 - I follow up and he says they are shipping tomorrow

7/28 - He says he is having computer troubles and needs a few days if I still want the clocks. I agree that I want them.

8/9 - He says they will ship Monday 8/11 - computer issues are fixed.

8/19 - He says they will finally ship out on Tuesday 8/19 - Family issues held him up.

    8/19 - I request tracking (read - no response)

8/24 - I ask if they have shipped (unread no response)

8/28 - I give up and tell him I am filing a paypal claim though I would still take the clocks if it can be worked out. No response

Paypal claim opened, no response to it so far.

Sadly I really want the clocks based on all the good things I have heard, but at this point, I doubt I would ever get them.

Paypal ruled in my favor and I will be getting a refund in the next day or two.

Still no word from Ajaxfarrell though.

Same. Paypal provided the refund but I think he should remain on the list until he can discuss why he failed to follow through on his sales.

I never got my purchase (even though he said it was mailed weeks ago), never responded to me, so he's going to stay on the list until he refunds me, since I can't go through Paypal. Still very disappointing.

I had gotten the same story like you did - from Ajaxfarrell. I had to go report to my credit card company to get my money back. I never got any response since 8/28. I guess he goes on banned list? (shrug)

  15. Got to see it last night, and it went good. Next week, we should get to see what next the Penguin will do to keep the cash flowing. Looks like it's the beginning of his plan. This sitcom is taking its time to build up.

So far, it's not bad. I find Fish Wanda is somewhat irritated in acting to me.
