Out of all of the exclusives available at C2E2, how did you/Danielle know to get in line for this one and buy 15/75 copies?

She bought a lot of exclusives at C2E2.  She bought 15 copies of the Clayton Crain 301 homage too.  UF4 is just the one everyone is talking about.  If I had been there and had heard a vendor was dropping a UF4 Clayton Crain cover that might've been where I'd started also.

Very cool story with lots of interesting details.

I especially like the parts where the book was lost....and then it was found.

You could grate cheese on my goosebumps right now.

Haha sorry I probably could have shared more details in the update but wasn't sure I should bump the thread.  The book was involved in a trade at the show.  The book wasn't taken, I made a mistake and then jumped the gun too quickly with this thread :(

AND they managed to crowdfund their trip to SDCC. So despite routinely buying and selling five- and six-figure books, they’re pocketing thousands more from “fans.” Wild.

Danielle/Sammy decided to try something new at this show.  They worked out sponsorships with other businesses, most who won't be at SDCC. They had shirts made up and will be wearing the companies' logos all week in SDCC, will be advertising them on IG & Whatnot, promoting their businesses in San Diego & in some cases selling their products at Comic Con.  Similar to dealers who pay to advertise their banners/logos on the front page of this site, except in most cases Danielle and Sammy took payment in the form of books.

They are being sponsored by companies.  Nothing was "pocketed from fans". That is just "wild" speculation on your part.

  4. Thanks everyone!  We will be filing a police report this afternoon.  A little bit of good news I spoke to Paypal again and my case with them might not be as bleak as I thought it sounded yesterday.  It sounds like there is a decent chance they may protect us after all.  But we won't know for sure for somewhere between 20 and 90 days from now :(

Hopefully the book turns up somewhere or the police will be helpful.  I'll post updates if I get any.

I appreciate all the kind words and eyes out for this book!

Wow. I'm truly sorry to hear that and will keep a look out.

Im unfamiliar with this side of the hobby...with Paypal, shouldn't he have to return the book to get the refund since you can prove it was delivered to him?

Unfortunately he didn't file an item not received claim, he filed an unauthorized purchase charge through his credit card, which I guess has a different set of rules.  I still plan to appeal through Paypal but am not extremely hopeful on that front.

  6. On February 25th, we had someone purchase this Batman 121 CGC 7.5 from us, which we shipped Fedex overnight, he acknowledged receiving it and said "it looks great, thanks", and then recently filed an unauthorized credit card chargeback through Paypal without returning the book.

He apparently goes by the names Jeffrey Ledbetter, Ben Shroy, and George Panek.  The address he gave us is in Little Rock, Arkansas, but his phone number came up with a Kansas area code.

If someone with anyone of these names tries to buy a book from you please be careful, and if anyone sees this book show up anywhere or lives in Little Rock or KS and has a good relationship with the local comic stores (or local police) please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help!
