  1. I think its more like 13 months ... you mean wait 8 more months. I tend to agree. God bless the guy, but I tend to think that the publisher needs to step in and tell him that he's going to have to speed it up, just draw the cover and write and pick another artist and work on a mini series that he can publish seperately or do something to make this work. It's a shame that comics don't sell enough that Simpson can quit his day job. I've not read his stuff but he's clearly talented from what I've seen and it seems like he has a hell of a product.
  2. Do you think that the delay in publishing of nonplayer #2 until at least this October (according to Nate Simpson) will kill this series or do you think its worth the wait? I was thinking about picking up the first issue, but just read that news today on CBR and now I'm on the fence.
  3. On a seperate note, I was disheartened to see that sales of Chew were only 12K (someone showed me comic chron and I spent way too much time playing with that website). I hope that the delay between issues isn't hurting readership. That reminds me, I read today that nonplayer #2 will be released at best by October 2012. I don't know how that title can make it? What do you all think?
  4. That guys trying to sell a walking dead CGC 9.0 for $875 ... yikes!
  5. I suggest the hardcovers rather than the tpbs. I think you'll save cash and they're nicer.
  6. FYI Chew was featured today on G4's Attack of the Show in a short segment that references the deal with Showtime.
  7. Any explanation for the beast cover not selling for substantially more than the beauty cover of Fatale 1? Comic Book Resources indicated that the beast cover has approximately half the print run of the beauty cover.
  8. In reference to the TV show, a number of people commented that the show may be animated. Is there any basis for this other than hope and/or speculation? All of the inital press releases I read indicated that the show was slated as a live action, thirty minute comedy. Also, would someone kindly post photos of the Chew Ashcan and the rare sketchbooks (not Larry's) that were recently discussed so I can see what they look like. Does anyone have any idea what they may sell for or when the last time one was sold Also, can anyone give me some idea of what these sell for and if they are available anywhere currently. Thanks!
  9. I should clarify my comment. Doing what you love for a living is a dream come true. I was just observing the wide range of personalities among comic fans. I imagine that adults who dress in costumes and go to conventions can be hard to handle at times. At the same point in time, comics inspire young and old alike and are an amazing forum to spur creativity and personal development. I think it would be a pretty great job.
  10. I have great sympathy for all the pro's dealers, artists, writers, etc. for what they have to go through with customers and fans. I stopped selling comics before I turned 18 when Capital City went under and only recently started reading comics again for stress relief.
  11. The implication that she would lie to someone about the status of the television show, or alternatively that she has no idea what is going on with the project. Also, the idea that she hopes to cash in on the money from the tv show and would say anything to support the belief that the project was proceeding accordingly. The post depicts her as a clueless and/or greedy housewife hoping to cash in on the sucess of her husband's work.
  12. I am disgusted by the negative comments about Rob Guillory's wife April. You should remove the comments and apologize for making them. The show is in development. Mean spirited comments about the artist's wife do not belong in a fan forum. I hope that a moderator will remove them and again ask that you refrain from making false and misleading statements about this series and its forthcoming television show. In response to the substantive comments about the show, my understanding is that it was purchased with the intent of casting as a live action series. I concur with your ideas regarding the show's format, but hope that Layman has a voice regarding the direction of the show. He is very talented and his involvement will insure the integrity of the content. I hope that we see the first episode by 2013, but as long as it is made with care I am happy. The fan base for this series is huge and there is little question in my mind that the series will be a success.
  13. I just received a very nice email from April (Rob Guillory's wife). She confirmed that the Chew television show continues to be developed by Showtime. The rumors suggesting that the show was "shelved" are false. I hope that anyone who made comments to that effect on this message board or elsewhere will refrain from making such statements and correct their false representations.
  14. A chew live action show would be great as long as it is not identical to the material in the comicbook, but retains the feel of the first couple issues. The twists and turns in the Walking Dead are one reason that I am so anxious to watch. I think ultimately that it is boring for fans to watch a show that it is identical to the original work. For these reasons, inter alia, I'm of the opinion that Chew wouldn't work as a cartoon and that it would undoubtably have the same problems that are keeping the Goon from being released (i.e., fear that adult animation/CGI will not make enought money, fear that adults couldn't let their children watch and that adults wouldn't watch animation/CGI in large enough numbers to make the show a sucess). On the other hand, shows/films that modify the source material moderately keep original fans interesting and pacify the masses do work (i.e., the Walking Dead). The idea of a bird flu pandemic, the rise of the FDA and chicken busts is going to be tough enough for those who don't read the comic to wrap their heads around. If Showtime introduces aliens, the vampire, fire in the sky, a cyborg face, etc., I fear that the show will not make it to season two. This is just me thinking out loud and mererly my opinion (and remember that opinions are like ********, everyone has one). I would appreciate it if others would share their thoughts, opinions and insights. Also, has anyone heard anything about Showtime's other projects (100 Bullets and The Damned)? I hope that all three of these projects don't go the way of Locke and Key! I was/am really rooting for Chew. It is more enjoyable than every title I am currently reading and there is a ton of good stuff being produced by the comic industry right now!
  15. I am interested in hearing any news or infomration regarding the status of Showimte's 30 minute television show. It appears that this may be the year for comics on TV with Chew, 100 Bullets, and the Damned on Showtime. Other potential shows include: (a) the Punisher; (b) the Increadible Hulk; a/k/a Jessica Jones (Marvel Max's Alias); the Specter, cloak and dager, and deadman inter alia. I personally would love to see Chew enjoy the sucess of the walking dead. I would like to hear others opinoins and any news released after the initial annoucement was made in late March. Thank you for any insight you are willing to share. If you have information about any of the other titles, please feel free to email me privately at gsidirop@gmail.com. Thanks again!
