  1. Maybe ... but it's definitely the smartest (most safe) time to sell b/c if the character isn't as popular as she's perceived to be now then the value will cool down (plus everyone with a raw copy is going to send them to CGC tomorrow.
  2. I really need to stop shopping on ebay and strictly shop on the boards.
  3. Thanks! My subscription is lapsed since I send my stuff in via a 3rd party. Would you PM me about what number of books per month/year its becomes better to do it yourself. Thanks for the advise. I appreciate it.
  4. It has to have gone in less than 24 hours because I've been consistently looking for one. I also missed a couple copies that sold for $60 - $80 which again had to have sold in about a days time.
  5. Luther Strode 1 CGC 9.8's remain sold out on ebay with the last copies selling for approximately $70.00. There are no CGC 9.8 copies of issue 1 available elsewhere online. In fact, I've made multiple posts on the Want to Buy section of these boards requesting that someone sell me a CGC 9.8 copy and haven't received any response to my request. I think we'll see heat for this title build when the TPB hits. There is not a single ebay seller who indicates that the raw NM copies they are selling are CGC 9.8 candidates. Interestingly, a CGC copy of issue 3 has not sold although it has been listed on ebay for a significant amount of time.
  6. He transformed from the most disgusting character on the show to the only one who has a modicom of sense at times. He's still in serious need of an SRI or SSRI and therapy, but it's the apocolypse who doesn't need talk therapy.
  7. I think the sex was there for a reason i.e., to depict the tv heads as almost hedonists and to show their vanity. I don't know that it necessarily works but it was definitely a plot device.
  8. Ok And it is a headline on bleedingcool. I just say it.
  9. Adventure Time is a perfect example of multiple variant covers driving sales and scarcity. If there was only one cover, I don't think that this comic would demand nearly as much cash in the secondary market.
  10. I think the standard for a spoiler is whether you can reasonably avoid the plot related information and I don't know that you can avoid that kind of information because it is likely to be a headline on ifanboy, bleeding cool, newsarama, CBR or elsewhere on the internet.
  11. I think it's the one with the series of advertising videos (there's a saga - gaga video and one where the punchline is boobies. I'll ask the person who told me and find out for sure.
  12. If there was the same incentive I think we'll see a print run around 35K - 50K if Image did not do the incentive I'm guessing between 23K-30K. I've been to a ton of shops in my area in the last day (I had a bunch of time to kill b/c of a family thing) and the shop owners did not order it heavy and these guys were a good sample. I know there was one shop in Florida that ordered 500 copies, but I haven't heard stories of any other big orders. If the book was put out by DC I think the print run would have been 100K .
  13. John Layman tells Bleeding Cool; Some dude, “Mr. Retro”, is selling “Chew Art Prints” for $29 on Amazon, and we’re asking people NOT to buy them. Not only are they not authorized, they are not even art prints. The are ripped-up pages of CHEW Omnivore edition, and they are signed by Rob and I, but NOT for the purposes of resale. The story: In late January, at Wizard World New Orleans attended by both John Layman and Rob Guillory, a gentlemen approached us to sign a stack of ripped up Omnivore Edition pages. It seemed weird to tear up a hardcover to sign individual pages, but at comic cons you meet all sorts of people, and get a multitude of odd requests. Rob had met the person with the pages at a previous show, and we had assurances the signed pages were being given to friends and customers– the operative word being GIVEN. We were led to believe, naively in retrospect, this guy Mr. Retro was giving them to CHEW fans and readers at his store. I guess we’re still at a point where we try not to be to the people we think are our fans, though this incident is clearly evidence we need to take a harder line so we don’t get taken advantage of. We signed and signed and signed. And when we had signed through a pretty hefty pile of pages, the guy came back with ANOTHER stack of pages. We started to get a really skeevy vibe off this dude, but by then the damage has been done. And lo and behold, now the guy is selling these ripped-up TPB pages as “signed art prints,” WHICH THEY ARE NOT. They are nothing more than ripped-up pages from our Omnivore editions, signed by the two of us under false pretense.
  14. We are all patiently (or not so patiently) waiting to see these copies without the left corner tear. As far as the title goes, I think we will all be pleasantly surprised when we see that the print run is lower than 25K. Can anyone confirm if Diamond had any retailer incentive and/or return policy to promote sales (similar to what they did with Fatale)? Thanks for the info.

  16. They are the sweetest sketches I've ever seen.

  19. A couple copies already sold on ebay for more than $10.
  20. I can't say enough good things about the issue. It was a resounding sucess.
  21. Chew hasn't't been out for five years but it sure has value. We are in a new age for comics because of the proliferation of tv & film adaptations. Any comparisons aren't fair. My 2 cents.
  22. Two of the buttons are solicited as issues 97 and 98. There's five images (six buttons, but one doesn't depict a character (an axe, sledge hammer, chainsaw, machete, And the crossbow). I guess my best guess is that 97, 98 & 99 each have dual covers or each have a variant. I just wish I knew how many issues I had to buy to get the variants if there are variants. It was a great marketing idea. Gotta give credit where it is due.
