  1. Not another joe_collector - RMA quarrel…
  2. I can’t tell how much I hated the New Mutants when Liefeld started to draw it (and thanks to Bosco for finally allowing me to discover all the behind-the-scenes facts in that Louise Simonson interview). Bronty wondered for years what made Liefeld toss out a decent cover – I wondered for years what turned overnight a title developed with consistency for years (which was often also excellent) into a mess drawn, and then "written" by Rob Liefeld. I am just happy I finally got a copy of #98 (and in NM+) for free. Case closed (for now).
  3. @Porky: A french Dragonball? Now you need an italian Grendizer… in this recent, cool new edition:
  4. Out of curiosity, how much would a Captain America #1 without the centerfold valued at? Lovely thing to have a centerfold to Four Color #9 – now you just need an issue missing it!
  5. Nope, the story had nothing to do with the cover. Thanks – too bad! (thumbs u
  6. Heh, there are a few really nice ones in Superman issues in that range… that’s why I asked about the content: I am really curious!
  7. Marvel Super-Heroes #13 (which follows up in Captain Marvel #1) is actually a good story. I think this is the second appearance of the Kree Sentry, and great Gene Colan artwork as well. Various early Captain Marvel issues are relevant for Carol Danver's presence, but surely they are not Copper…
  8. Well, what’s awesome about you US collectors is that you can easily phone to dealers or sellers – I could but my phone conversation english would not be so great, and I don’t know how it could work… Do these Superman war covers reflect the content in some way? I have been interested in war content since I restarted collecting comic books, but never bought a DC or a Timely so far and know little of the insides…
  9. Wow, seems a great deal. He was selling it at BIN price?
  10. Where is the "journal section"? Hey, I did not know Mel Ramos did that CB painting… I recalled the image and then realized it was used on that music album cover (I did not listen to Rage Against the Machine). Very curious! Years ago they did a personal art exhibition of Mel Ramos' works here in Modena, within the building of our own Public Park: http://www.cuboimages.it/getImageBin.asp?filename=BER0571.JPG
  11. Awesome, I’d love to have a GA book, or a Foxhole signed by Jack, but I guess my FF#8 will do…
  12. Awesome. It took me about ten days just to "visit" Los Angeles, have a walk in Burbank and see the former Disney Studios site, and visit Jack Kirby in Thousand Oaks (and it was about 40 minutes by car only to get there). I realized after five minutes I was in California that I had to multiply my usual distances at least by four. I wonder what happens when a US citizen comes to a medium to small city in Italy…
  13. Dang! I thought the United States were a lot smaller…
  14. We just have to raid Bedrock’s house. Lend me a bed for a holiday and we can arrange!
  15. Thanks my friend! (thumbs u I think I will have an "immersive reading experience" when I am more or less done with my GA purchases, which means in short. I have advanced in my wartime research for the italian publications as well: now I just need to clean up and make space in my house to access the journals and comics to read them at ease… BTW, I also got this lowgrade Foxhole #2 – not during the war, but enough authentic to count as such… and the Kirby short story "Hot Box" (two pages) is just awesome.
  16. You mean the regular version? If I were in Bedrock, I would immediately deslab the pre-publication one to read it. It appears there are just a few copies, they shouldn’t have been slabbed.
  17. These probably give full meaning to the term "dust shadow", but I recently got these and I am pretty much stoked…
  18. And she wanted scans, not even pictures. Awesome, but maybe she wished to send a present to her husband or boyfriend…
  19. That might be a better alternative to people taking RMA's rambling as fact. Be nice, and stop grining…
  20. I believed "trolling" was not referred to a specific person. As far as I have read on the "netiquette" a troll is someone who deliberately disrupt a conversation off its topic, and it’s more the behavior than the content that defines it. The example you made, RMA, is not about a troll, but simply about one which is annoyed by a legitimate (and hopefully polite) reply. I mean, joe_collector just needs to re-read what he writes… and think about it for some time.
  21. Actual "scarcity" aside I liked Whitman versions better (and still like them, in general) simply because they look graphically better to me. Early silver age Marvels had a lot of care put in the graphic design of most of the tiniest detail (and a "craft" quality to them, also thanks to the great logo designs of Sol Brodsky). The newsstand copies had a nicer look with the "Whitman" diamond price box, so I preferred those when I got them (hey, from Italy you couldn’t have been that picky back then! ).
