No time! I need it for a birthday card thing today...

Ah crud. Sorry about that. If I was home instead of at the store today I'd scan the one(s) you needed from the book.

Maybe someone else here has it and can help.

This depends a lot on the properties of the ink. Generally, I suggest starting out by freezing the affected pages. Obviously, you want to ensure that the pages are kept free of moisture during this process!  If that doesn't work, you can instead try heat -- I'd suggest a hair dryer on its lowest setting, kept well away from the paper itself -- although I'd expect you to have better luck with the cold treatment on this ink.

In either case, instead of trying to pull the pages apart manually, use a length of waxed dental floss to separate them, working very slowly.

I'll try the freezing first. How should I protect it all? Large Ziploc bag? Artwork on bottom and paper on top? Any other paper surrounding them? How long should I freeze them?

I can provide more pics of everything if needed. It's a rare piece so I want to do this right and prevent any further damage.

  3. So I've got this Dave Sim Cerebus thing where there's original artwork and then the letter/cert with it. The art must have been laid on top of the cert thing while the ink was still wet or just printed, because it's stuck together on the bottom. If I pull it apart when dry it will tear (at least the surface if not completely) but I'm afraid to soak it. The artwork is not on that part of the piece, it's centered. How would you go about trying to separate the two, or is it a lost cause and should be just left as is? Opinions welcomed, please. Thanks.

but like so many people, i'm beyond tired of marvel gender bending seemingly every character. i get it- women can do amazing things! they can be superheroes too- we know! it still wont bring teen girls to the theater for mcu. only taylor swift could do that. if that's their goal, they have cast the wrong person.

    Excellent statement.

I just can't imagine how terrible it would feel if suddenly thousands or millions of people were attacking me online and making accusations and spewing hatred.  On the flip side the internet can expose bad behaviour and help to stop it.

It can even do both at once.

Patience. I was very happy with the 20+ movies thru phase 4. Nothing Fantastic since but I remember when the first F4 and Captain America movies came out and awful most superhero/comic movies and shows used to be.

I was 6 when Superman came out. It was done right and respected the character, it's history and the world it populated. Christopher Reeve played the character seriously and with dignity.

The movies do best when they respect those things. The first Captain America movie, as cheesy as it was (with a budget I've got in my wallet right now)...failed before one second was shot by making the Red Skull Italian and not German. The same mistake has happened here.

Most of the early movies failed that way...Doctor Strange, FF, the Power Pack & JLI television pilots, etc. I've seen them all.

Here's a scenario that would make your reaction seem foolish.

It's a cameo of a Silver Surfer from another universe and she's in the movie for 10 minutes.

Not at all. My point still stands. They are wasting time and resources for BS garbage.

Make it Norrin Radd and that's it.

However, even regardless of that...what have they done in the past 4 or 5 movies and 4 or 5 TV shows that lead you to believe they will what you suggest and THEN get it right?

They've done nothing. Nothing to suggest that.

I'm not technically against gender bending and race shifting per se, as long as it is applied equitably, but I can't help but notice that the changing typically involves the removal of white male heterosexual roles. Do I need to ask for some clarification on what the message is here, if there even is one? GOD BLESS ...

That's what I mean by "checking an inclusivity box."

Some executive these days always has to say, "Forget about 50+ years of the comic character being (established example), we don't have enough (women, black, Asian, Hispanic, etc) in this movie! We need to change that character so that we have enough or we'll get roasted by society!!!"

It's ridiculous. Make an original movie that checks all those boxes and stop screwing with the version of the character that made it popular enough for a movie in the first place.

It's amusing to watch how all the "fans" react to these types of announcements before they know hardly any specifics.

    Garner is an amazing actress.

So what? I don't need to know any specifics.

The Silver Surfer isn't Norrid Radd. It isn't the version that MADE THE CHARACTER POPULAR ENOUGH FOR DECADES TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A DAMN MOVIE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

That's the problem. I want the character that EARNED the popularity. Not something that some executive did to "check an inclusivity box."

    Effing ridiculous.

How many of us did stupid, embarrassing things that we are ashamed of? Everyone. And we're probably better people for it as we were given enough time to learn the lesson, feel the shame and make corrections to be better functioning members of society. People learn from experience and interaction. Cancel culture eliminates those learning opportunities by creating a fear-filled, toxic environment where nothing can be said, done, or shown.

    Excellent point.

I wonder if you see any amount of irony in your posts.

Since I don't enjoy disgusting stuff, no.

If you're referring to mistakes I've made in the past (now EIGHT YEARS past) that I've learned from and moved on from, they aren't relevant to this discussion in the slightest and I should be able to discuss things here WITHOUT them being brought up. You're squeaky clean, eh? Never made any mistakes? How lovely for you.

You see art you like. You imitate it. That's how.

Has nothing to do with who they are. An artist shows you what they want to show you. What people's reactions are to it, is usually more telling than how it reflects the artist.

Bob Marley didn't really shoot the sheriff. It was just a song.

It has nothing to do with who they are that they LIKE that stuff begin with?

Why choose lyrics about shooing someone? Why not helping someone instead?

It's like the Saw movies. Why do people enjoy movies about humans being killed in disgusting ways with copious amounts of gore? Why?

I think trying to assess a person's psychology from such a minimalist, arm's-length approach is not very constructive.

I'm just trying to understand how it's possible to form that type of style when it's not a direction historically usually chosen by young people.

...or do you think that most young people, especially women, conceive images of rats killing things and then injecting their arms with heroin?

You seem like a pretty petty person.

Actually, not at all. My concern with what I post here and what is posted here is pretty close to nonexistent. It's just a random comment based on what I'm reading at that particular second, and then forgotten entirely until the next time I have a free second to log back in to the forum. I'm here for the great comic fans who populate this forum that have amazing stories to tell about the hobby & their experiences in enjoying it...definitely not goofball YouTube "influencers" and their heightened senses of self-importance in trying to mine "clicks" and "subscribers." :eyeroll:
