  1. I've got a trading thread over in mixed!

I'm a couple rounds into a trading challenge where I started with dollar bin books and am trying to trade up for an All-Star Comics #8 xD

It's early days so what I have right now is mostly some cool copper and moderns, but I will take anything in trade, as long as it inches me towards my goal. So check it out, and if you see anything you like, I will consider literally anything in trade!

  2. I've added individual book trade values to the four books in the speculation lot, and will consider offers for any combination of at least 2 of them, though my preference is to trade all 4 at once.

Additionally, I've decided to just throw in the Magik #1 as a freebie to whoever claims it first after a completed trade!

    Magik #1 has been claimed!

  3. Copper/Modern Speculation Lot

$75 - looking to trade the whole lot for 1 book

I will also consider breaking up the lot, but I'd like to trade at last 2 of these at a time up for 1. So I've listed the individual trade values as well

    $30 - Spawn #1 - 9.2/9.4 - has a spine tick

    $20 - Micronatus #1 - 8.5 - Whitman variant

    $15 - Rai #0 - 9.4 ncb dimple

    $10 - GrimJack #1 - 8.5 - a couple light bends - might be pressable? Amazon show in development!

  4. Jack Kirby lot

$100 - looking for 1-2 books in trade

The Omac #1 is around a 9.0/9.2, unread new old stock that could use a cleaning. The grades of the others vary wildly. Some are very nice (Omac #2-3, New Gods 9, Forever People 11), others are low grade, and everything in between.

This lot contains 21 Kirby books from his time at DC: Omac #1-7, New Gods #5, 7-10. Forever People #2-9, 11

  5. Daredevil #227-233 - Born Again lot - avg 7.5/8.0

$55 - looking for 1 book in trade

This is a really nice lot of the complete, classic Born Again run on Daredevil from Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli. Lots like this seem to sell on ebay in the $55-60 range, so that's what I'm looking for!

  6. Sweet Tooth #1 - 6.5  TRADED!!

$80 - looking for one (or possibly 2) book in trade

This is super hot right now thanks to the recent Netflix announcement. Hard to put a value on it - high grade copies are selling for close to $200 on ebay at the moment. This one has a couple issues - one large spine ding in the center of the spine, small cb tick bottom spine, tiny cb crease bottom right fc, and a non cb bend through book in upper right corner. The last can be pressed out, and probably will disappear just from having it stores correctly for awhile with a backing board. As it sits, though, I think 6.5 is about right. I'm seeing lower grade copies sold recently for $60-67 on ebay, so I think $80 for this copy is a fair trade value.

  7. Hello!

    Welcome to my Trading Challenge!

A while ago I began a crazy endeavor: starting with a pool of 20 books from dollar bins, I'm trying to trade up to get an All-Star Comics #8.

    O.o

Along the way, if my trading pool drops below 20 books, I can fill those empty slots with more dollar bin finds.

So this combines two of my favorite things about collecting: trading with other collectors, and searching for cool books in dollar bins!

In this thread, I'm going to be offering up some of my current trade pool books for TRADE ONLY. That's one of the rules of the challenge! But another is that I am not keeping anything for myself until I get that All-Star #8, which means that I DON'T CARE WHAT I RECEIVE. I'm just trying to raise the dollar value of my pool by trading and by clearing up slots to add new finds.

That means I will accept ANY books that meet my trading price. I don't care what title, character, era, artist, anything - whatever you have, I'm up for it. I'm just going to be looking at value alone.

So if you have some books that are worth a little bit but don't fit your collection, and you see something here you want, send me an offer and we can help each other out! You get something you want more, and I get closer to my insane goal!

A couple necessary rules for the boards: we will each cover the shipping for our half of the deal, so I will pay to send you the books I am trading to you, and you will pay to ship the books you are sending to me. If there's any problem in terms of wanting to return the books - which I don't expect - we can do it and we each pay return shipping. However! I will need to know within one day of the book being delivered, because I am constantly trading, and anything I get in may go out very, very quickly afterwards. So I might not have the book any more if I don't hear immediately that there's an issue.

With most of these books and lots, I am trying to trade for 1 book - a lot for 1, or 5 for 1, etc. as I'm trying to consolidate to free up some slots in my trading pool. I will list both the price and the number of books I am looking for. But I am open to other offers, so go ahead and throw something my way.

    Let's do some trading!!

  8. Before first appearances became a big deal, 24 was in demand because of the classic cover and story. The cover was voted by the fans as the top cover of the year at the time (1973 I think?) so it's been a highlight issue since it came out. And the story, "The Song of Red Sonja," is a classic, and the final Barry Windsor-Smith issue.

But it's not her first appearance, that's all. If the market determines 24 is more valuable, fine. We all know how important covers are these days, and it's a must have cover. When people in the market claim that its her first appearance or first full appearance, though, whether it's cgc or an ebay seller, it's just an attempt to justify the price by adding meaning that the book does not have. It's mistaken at best and lying at worst.

Anyway, enough ranting. I'm going to go eat cake.

  9. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. People asked what Red Sonja's first appearance is, probably because there are a bunch of hucksters on eBay claiming that 24 is either her first appearance or first full appearance when in fact it's neither. I'm trying to give them the correct information which is that 23 is her first appearance and her first full appearance. I don't know why you're trying to obfuscate this fact.

Okay, apparently you don't like the story in #23. So what.

What Conan book is the one to own for the 1st appearance of red Sonja?

23 is her first appearance and is a full appearance.

24 is a classic cover with a great story and is a must have for Sonja fans.

    Everyone should get both!

The other Sonja keys to have are Savage Sword of Conan #1 and probably Kull and the Bararians #3. Then after those I'd rank Marvel Feature #1 and Red Sonja #1.

  11. Avengers #1 seems to be catching the wave. I suspect it's because it just looks really undervalued compared to the silly prices being realized by other books, especially given that Avengers is the biggest entertainment franchise in the world.

Don't get me wrong, X-Men #1 is the more important book and should be more valuable for sure. But should it be 5-6x more, which it has been running in some grades? Personally I don't think so, I think 3x is more appropriate.

Anyway, Avengers #1 seems to be catching the wave finally as a result.

I have a 3.0 so that's what I have been tracking on eBay. Here are the sold listings for Avengers #1 in cgc 3.0:

    Feb 5 - $2550

    Feb 6 - $2500

    Mar 14 - $3500

    Apr 20 - $4200 (ss)

    Apr 23 - $4500
