  1. I've stayed out of this thread for months, and now I make the mistake of ducking my head back in here to find that the same people are arguing over the exact same things! Guys, really, what is the point? Is anybody being swayed by anything? I should not get involved, but just this one thing. This has been addressed, as you probably guessed. DC was using the term "team" at this time to describe the team-ups in this title. They didn't switch to "team-up" until later. For example, here's an ad for the very first team-up, in #50, describing how every issue of the title is going to feature a new "team": Maybe I shouldn't have posted this, because it seems like some of the people in this thread are probably going to now try and claim that B&B #50 is the first appearance of the Detroit League. Here's another example, an ad for the team-up in #53, which again is called a "team" even though it's just two random dudes running into each other: Heck, given that The Atom later became the leader of the Teen Titans, maybe this unnamed "team" from #53 is actually the first appearance of the Teen Titans!
  2. That's a pretty ignorant take on Stan Lee's writing. Without Stan Lee spearheading the 60's, who knows what the comicbook landscape will looks like right now. He is definitely not Kirkman, Johns, nor Bendis but he sure did paved the way for today's greats. I'd rather read Stan than any of those three, every day of the week. Especially Bendis. My god.
  3. Anyway, this isn't even Linda Carter's first appearance, so if people are being completely crazy and chasing movie speculation dollars, they are missing the boat.
  4. Night Nurse is amazing. That is reason enough for it to go up in value.
  5. At least the price jump for Squirrel Girl's first appearance is based on actual interest from comic fans and not movie or TV speculation!
  6. I'm actually not even planning to sell it. I've been looking for a copy of this for awhile for my own collection. I think Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is the best comic being published right now, so I'm stoked to finally get her first appearance. Plus, her first appearance was drawn by Steve Ditko! That's quality right there.
  7. Thanks for the info, guys, I appreciate it. The copies of Magnus #5-7 I got are all high grade, just with the cards missing. I paid $1 each for them, so I'm not too put out.
  8. I stopped by a comic store today that I haven't been at for a while. I almost didn't bother, because I went through their stuff last time and was pretty sure they didn't have what I am currently looking for. But then I thought, well, they do have this nice 50 cent bin, so maybe I'll just paw through that and see if there's anything fun I can buy for 50 cents. Yup. About a 9.0:
  9. Newb question. I picked up Magnus #5-7 the other day, with the first Rai story. My copies do not have the trading card. I don't think they have the coupon either, I have to double check. How much does this affect the value? Does it matter if they have the coupon but not the trading card?
  10. Got a Star Wars #42 for a buck yesterday at a junk shop. Unfortunately, it has some water damage and is probably only a 3.0/3.5 at best. But for a buck, can't complain.
  11. But it does say what predates ANMPO - "Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) cover." This cover predates ANMPO.
  12. I thought she was horribly miscast in Sherlock Holmes, so I'm not too enthusiastic about this news. Hopefully if she is Clea, she'll be better this time around.
  13. I like it. Fowler's art is definitely more cartoony than the previous artists, but I thought she acquitted herself pretty well in the Braga Special. Storytelling is more important to me than rendering style, and I think she's pretty good.
  14. This isn't a big surprise. Stepan has said more than once on the Facebook page that he was doing this arc and then they'd see what was happening. I got the impression all along that he was kind of stepping in as a temporary measure so the book could keep on schedule after Roc's departure. Pure speculation here, but Kurtis has been posting quite a few drawings of the Rat Queens by Tess Fowler on the Facebook page. She previously did the Braga Special, so maybe she's just having fun, but before Stepan was announced we also were teased with a number of his Rat Queens test drawings. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Tess is the new regular artist.
  15. When Archie Comics cancelled their Kickstarter campaign, they offered free gifts to those who did back the project, you just had to send them your address. Well, I received my gift today, and it was a 2014 NYCC Sabrina #1 variant. This is the same design as the store specific variants for #1, but instead of the individual store's logo, it has the Archie Comics logo: I don't know if they gave these to everyone who backed the Kickstarter, or if they just gave out whatever they had laying around and this is what I happened to get.
  16. The series went on hiatus with #144 three years ago so Stan Sakai could work on 47 Ronin. Now that he's done with it, and with the Senso limited series, Usagi Yojimbo has resumed right where it left off. #145 was the first issue since the beginning of 2012. I can tell you from personal experience as someone trying to complete this run, finding the later issues is like pulling teeth. I've gotten up through #121, but I'm missing about half the issues from #122-144. Needless to say, it's really aggravating, as I'm now buying new issues and just stacking them in the corner until I can somehow get the previous issues and finally catch up with the story.
  17. It's definitely their first appearance. I don't think most fans have caught on to this yet, or are even aware it exists. And if they do, I'm not sure how much they'll care. But it's a pretty sweet book from where I'm sitting. I've picked up 2 copies so far and am on the lookout for more if I can get them cheap.
  18. Oh no. The thread has been infected with B&B 54/60 discussion. Quick, someone shoot the thread in the head and put it out of its misery before it's too late.
  19. I think you are right there. I was going from memory, but Mike's Newsstand lists the on sale date as December 5. I'm sure I used to have copies of both 26 and 27 with date stamps on the cover, but I upgraded before I started tracking arrival dates and no longer have them unfortunately. Either way, it's still an early atomic bomb cover.
