  1. Some of my Rosa winnings from CLINK. I re-scanned them instead of using the CLINK images. Brave & the Bold #124: I love this cover. It took me forever to find a NM copy of this book and I have looked at conventions, online, stores, etc.,. Bought a CGC 8.0 that looks perfect on the front cover but has many crescent shaped production tears on the back cover. This Rosa 9.6 copy looks great.
  2. I ordered some and put some bids on some others. I had banned myself from bidding on/purchasing their stuff after past experiences. But after your ringing endorsement, I will give them another shot. You are hereby responsible for the results.
  3. Superworld per the "This week in your collection" thread. I just thought the planets might have aligned and one of his lots was decent for once.
  4. They are backlogged for some reason. So, I just told them to hold the book until the next round of books are over. Whudgyagit?
  5. It was a cheap book, so it wouldn't be a big deal to crack it out. It is just, I am not familiar with pressing, so I don't think I would be able to confirm anything one way or the other. I thought since I got the books, I'd ask what others impressions of their purchases were. I can see now why the pressing issue involves everyone who buys slabs at some level. I just wouldn't think it would be worth it on books such as these. Do these guys really make that little money in their real jobs that they need to do this? I guess it all adds up though.
  6. I mentioned earlier, those books would have gone for more had they been on ebay. I only paid $25 for that OAAW 244. In fact, I bought 4 books that were under $30 each. I don't think I could get VF/NM-ish early DC Bronze War raw for much less from any of the big dealers. Let alone a Rosa copy.
  7. Thanks for the list. Of my purchases, I think this one exhibits some characteristics I don't see that often (and that only one other book has). Check out the top staple damage and the fanning on the right edge of the book. For the record, none of the books look any more or less "flat" in the slab than other books of the same age I have personally submitted to CGC.
  8. I got my CLINK Rosa wins this afternoon and they seem okay to me, but I am no pressing expert. I bought 2 9.6s, 2 9.4s, 1 9.2, 3 9.0s and an 8.5 (all DC war and the B&TB). Since they are all on the lower end of high grade I am assuming it wouldn't have been worth the effort to press or "massage" them. They definitely exhibit flaws that equate to their grade (staple stress on a few - is that a sign of pressing?). Anyone else get theirs?
  9. I agree--I actually have some Don Rosas from Bob that I've just sent to CGC (2 or 3 WWT books). I know Sid has had some success picking these up from Steve and getting decent 9.4 grades--which was the general cut off for Steve's submissions (he did sell a few 9.2s). However, if you take the DR books from this batch and hold them up to what Steve was selling, something just looks amiss. My opinion though--and I'm not pointing fingers anywhere---just an observation. Maybe Steve didn't send these in because of the QP issues. I can tell you that I did not see any of the BA horror raw and I was there right after Ewert in SD. Of course, it could have been part of the prescreen rejects that Steve said was going to be offered in Chicago. I'm sure that Bob Storms got a lot of the earlier HOM and HOS books from the prescreen pile. I can't see anyone else other than the Ewert/Brulato stock producing these books. They bought a whole long box at SD. So I think I dodge a bullet when I don't win the Ewert 9.8 B&TB 124 on ebay only to win this 9.6? I may need a new hobby.
  10. JE's stash of Rosa's from SD 2005? exactly. People apparently forgot that Steve picked out the candidates. Steve would've graded these if they were this great. These looked like they were brought up to their full potential---the color breaking creases look like they are screaming, pancake looks, etc. I've bought some raw Rosas from B Storms and they are very nice. I would say they were CGC candidates. What was the criteria Steve used in sending (or not sending) in the books he did? It wasn't a pre-screen for a certain grade was it? Have to check out my winnings from tonight when I get them.
  11. The labels are perfectly centered. It seems that people buying those books are more concerned with the labels, so I am sure they will be pleased with the condition of the case. Hope so, picking up my modern pre-screens this week or next. I got a couple 9.8s. They can help pay for my expenditures tonight.
  12. Yep, I think some of the DC War books would have done better on ebay. But I ain't complainin'.
  13. Thanks to BassGMan for a nice mag and to ComicSupply for, um, er, uh comic supplies.
  14. Back cover is near perfect. Sweet book. What are you thinking 9.4/9.6? I didn't know it was a multipack book, maybe I'll be able to upgrade at some point if it turns out to be that plentiful. Do you know, were most of the early SSWS US issues in multipacks?
  15. I just screwed up my last second bid on the 9.6 Rosa that just ended on ebay (there was a hiccup and by the time I pressed "submit" the auction had ended). I think it ended right about where you got your 9.4 at $80. I need to buy a sniping program, I would have bid it up to $150 at least.
  16. Holy schnikes. I never look at the Clink auctions. That is a ton of sweet Rosa stuff in all genres.
  17. Thanks. HOS 110 has line work that blows the 127 out of the water. I like the Death playing pool image a lot. Too bad I've never seen the Kubert version from the Ghosts digest up for sale.
  18. I guess those guys have never heard of Heritage selling anywhere besides ebay. I stand by my uninformed buyer remark from earlier. It seems obvious they have no idea Heritage has one up right now in their current weekly auction and if you look at their upcoming auctions, hey, what a surprise another one. But with WHITE pages. And for the record, I have nothing against a guy paying whatever for a comic, it is just the fact that they have no idea/don't want to have an idea about the market and/or book that I find so incredulous.
  19. Thank you Tim. Thanks to Blazing Bob as well for a recent purchase. Quick response and shipping as usual. And I bought something from nochips off ebay. Very, very good experience.
  20. Thanks guys. Also in the package was the prelim. I actually kind of dig the original angle on Death more than the finished one. I am assuming it was moved off-center for the logo. Still cool to see.
