It was definitely some sort of time/space continuum interruption...
...I only found my way back just minutes ago...
But I am here now, & warming up the picture-taker!!

Based on the evidence presented during the trial so far, my money is still on SCS during transit from Dylan to CGC. One big bang could have taken out both fragile covers if he had unpacked them post presser to take a peek. Based on a quick glimpse at his ebay feedback he doesn't appear to be a careful packer and/or uses a 3rd party to package/ship his orders. Even slabbed comics can have covers detach if packed improperly and handled by couriers with their usual care.
This may very well be the case...as they seem to be in nice shape leaving Impaler's in Canada, & would think that if he opened them before sending to cgc he'd have noticed the damage if it happened en route back to the U.S.
One thing that's bothering me is that he stated on I.G. that CGC was offering to compensate him something like $1k-$2k for this....and if that's true (not saying it is or not), then isn't that them ADMITTING wrongdoing on some level?
I mean, just to play Devil's advocate....wouldn't they just tell this kid to kick rocks if his claims were complete B.S. & they handled the books properly?

I think there are realistically a few options for what happened here:
- Dylan legitimately had books damaged by CGC. Books do get damaged at CGC on occasion, but I am reasonably sure that they're cognizant enough of this particular issue to exercise special care. Also, believing this is what actually happened would requiring believing Dylan is being forthright and honest. I don't think I have that in me.
- Dylan legitimately had books damaged, but they were damaged in transit because either he or his presser (if different) do not know how to pack books.
- Dylan legitimately had books damaged, but they were damaged by his presser (who might very well just be Dylan himself) because they don't know how to press books safely.
- The before and after pictures do not represent the same books, and this is a sad, sad attempt at simple fraud.
Combinations are possible!
+1
While I have no Earthly idea what exactly is going on here, I did watch the Superman 1 "handling" video...and it scared the mess out of me...and I have also heard from multiple other sources that have had books damaged by CGC...so while I don't have any clue on the specific details or happenings of this event...I also DO NOT trust CGC to have any kind of quality control in the slightest...and instead have seen/heard several cases of them covering up/hiding/not owning up for their mistakes in the past...even going so far as to remove complaints posted by customers who had legitimate beefs and were attempting warn other people...sooooo they don't have the best track record of "being honest" either IMO...

Leading Comics #6 Spring 1943 Cover by Ed Dobotka and the story “The Treasure That Time Forgot” written by Joe Samachson.
To help with the war relief, the heroes compete in teams trying to locate a billion dollars in gold that Pizarro took from Atahaulpa. Crimson Avenger and Wing do not participate in the teams and instead pursue the gold on their own. The Soldierseventually succeed in obtaining pre-Columbian gold for the Allied cause.
My copy of Leading Comics #6 came from Boardie @Top City Comics in 2018. I can’t remember what I paid for it but I did have it put into a new holder.
Sweet set bro!!
