  1. Suicide Squad leaps ahead. And with X-Men: Apocalypse, it benefited from some international holdovers still showing the film jumping the Revenue Ration up a point.

Suicide Squad ends up having the best 4th weekend dropoff rate of all 2016 comic book movies.

:o Civil War came out in 1986 and th Avengers in 82' :baiting:lol
  2. Rumors are saying it's either Joe Mangiello or Stephen Lang playing Deathstroke. People are leaning towards Mangiello since he grew out a goatee, flew to London, and just started following Snyder on Twitter.

That's who I would like it to be. When you have 6'5" Joe Mangiello matched up against 6'4" Ben Affleck, it will make for some very interesting fight scenes.

I do think Stephen lang is awesome and an amazing actor but it would be hard to believe that he match batman. has for Joe Mangiello i think his perfect and be used for many years to come has Slade.
  3. interesting I like the show but the trailer seems to be everywhere and not focus.

My feeling exactly. Was a huge fan of the TV series as a kid. This is NOTHING Max Steel except for the name. Where is the spy aspect? N'tek? The Nanites? Not one "going Turbo?" Now it's an alien symbiont just sounds awful.

the movie looks to be base of the new tv show.
  4. Shame that SS beat GOTG opening weekend. GOTG was a truly great, entertaining movie.

but will it beat it when the final counting is done? w/o China, signs say no. GOTG did 3.5x it's opening weekend domestically. SS will be fortunate to do 2.5X.

It's a shame they couldn't deliver on a funny story like Deadpool. It would have been a nice surprise. Was that you that said Deadpool wouldn't even do $500MM worldwide? I think we were all surprised.

It needs to at least break $437MM (2.5X). Which should be doable, even without China. Though that means it can't experience any significant drop-off in any of its key markets.

    - Domestic: $218MM

    - International: $219MM

Product placement will counter a large portion of the marketing expense. Products like Bushmills Whiskey, Samsung phone (Boomerang's drone), Dasani Water, Coke, Monster Energy Drink, and one article mentions La Croix Sparkling Water (I didn't catch the Joker with this). But I think Samsung was the heavy-hitter they threw at us between Deadshot's phone and Boomerang's camera.

We'll see if Warner Bros's gamble going with a light story that focused more on the characters and their interaction pays off.

I'm thinking the same thing about it. I don't think is going to pass $500MM if anything it could end between &450MM - $500MM there isn't much competition this month I think the movie is going to have some nice couple of weeks before it drops.
  5. I watched Suicide Squad last night and quite frankly, I cannot see what all the complaining is about. For those of you who watched it and didn't like it, all I can say is you either went in with your mind already made up or watched a completely different movie!

For the complainers who haven't actually watched the movie... DO SO and stop with the metaphors and hyperbole meh

The first thing I have to say is Suicide Squad is a good movie. I won't claim it's "great" because it isn't on par with a movie like The Dark Knight. It is however fun, entertaining and has plenty of action. There is good chemistry between some of the characters and on the whole, fairly well cast.

The best character by far was Amanda Waller. This is how Waller should be portrayed on film, i.e. nothing will get in the way of national security. Nothing.

Deadshot was superb. Full credit to Will Smith for overcoming expectations ;) By the end of the first battle, everyone loved that guy who kills people for money...

Harley was as expected. Cute, charming in a crazy way and the centre of attention (for the most part). Well portrayed by Margot Robbie, I think the character would do well in her own movie.

Unexpectedly, El Diablo was awesome! A true highlight of the movie. A great character with awesome power. I don't want to give too much away but the scene in the bar where he recounts losing control of his powers was very well acted.

Joker... I was indifferent to Leto's portrayal. It wasn't bad, however it wasn't how we think of Joker. I have to ask, what do we expect in a 2016 movie? Romero, Nicholson or a "live action" Hamill would be too camp. Ledger worked with the tone of his movie but wouldn't necessarily work in SS. I went away thinking I couldn't see a better alternative...

Now... why the criticism over pacing and editing? The story started slow in order to build up the characters, then went into full on action after the team was deployed. Breaks in the action progressed the storyline and prevented fight-scene overload. The concern the movie is messed up and confusing is unfounded. It isn't. The storyline is very simple and easy to follow.

There's a few things that could've been better... Like not casting Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Unfortunately, acting does not appear to be her forte. And Killer Croc should've had a bigger role with more dialogue.

Overall a good movie I'd recommend going to see with an open mind...

    8/10

...i.e. a 7.5/10 movie which gets an extra 0.5 for Will Smith not singing the theme song...

    lol

I guess I could have given it that 'no Will Smith song' bump. :insane:

I would also add that fact that WB/DC are not hiding real magic in their universe but embracing it.
  6. Collider pulled together its five reviewers and go through the good, the bad and the missed opportunity. NON-SPOILER!

Their points sound reasonable and honest without trying to deliver a funny negative review to show how witty they are. And a few really enjoyed the movie.

    Mark Ellis: 5.9/10.0

    Dennis Tzeng: 7.0/10.0

    John Campea: 6.5/10.0

    Kristian Harloff: 5.0/10.0

    Jon Schnepp: 8.0/10.0

From five seasoned reviewers that looked at this as DC fans and movie-goers, their ratings come from the agreement it is the story that threw them off from calling this great. But they loved the characters and the interaction between the team.

I think Ayer was going for a simple story/ villain and focus more on some of the characters.
  7. from what I'm seeing from video reviews the movie has editing problems and the pacing in the second half of the movie. but it looks like is going to be a movie were a lot of people are going to like it over the critics. what's going to determent the outcome of the movie is word of mouth.

  8. Testing out new wireless LED lights. Dimmable, 4 different colors, remote can link up to 36 lights and only $20 for 5 at Sam's club.

it looks good it can give the statue's some great shadows from the lights.
  9. my list of movies to see for the next couple of years.
