    Thank you for your message. When you submit for both pressing and grading, there are separate turnaround times for each service.  Once an order is completed with pressing, it will move over to CGC and start the queue for grading.  It may not go into grading immediately depending on the tier and how many invoices are ahead of yours for that tier.

    Thank you for your message.  Payment is due upon receipt of your order.  It will be processed once your submission is logged in and all the information verified and that paperwork then goes over to our accounting department.  Since each tier has a different turnaround time, the time it will take for your order to get to that stage will vary from tier to tier.  You will receive an email from our accounting department once that payment is processed.

    Thank you for your message.  Grader Notes are made at the graders' discretion; they are not a guaranteed part of the service but are provided as a courtesy to paid members and dealers when available. Often, they may not be entirely comprehensive or give a 100% accurate description of the defects and the notes vary from grader to grader. I understand it can be frustrating when there are no graders notes but keep in mind, even when there are notes, they may not list every defect that affected the grade.  Unfortunately, we do not have any current plans on changing the graders notes or how they are listed.

    Thank you for your message.  Unfortunately, no, Elite members are not permitted to make appointments.  It is unlikely that we will go back to allowing Elite members to drop off for CGC due to the extremely high volume we have coming in. Currently, only authorized CGC dealers can make appointments.  All appointments are curbside drop off and pick up so no one is actually coming into the building any longer.

    Thank you for your inquiry.  All First Appearance notations are made at the discretion of the CGC grading team. 

    You may check any book on our CGC Census to see what Key Comments, Art Comments and First Appearance notations are currently listed for that book. 

    If you do not see a First Appearance notation that you believe should be noted, you may request it.  To request a first appearance update or inclusion of other information to the current label, please include a note both on your printed submission form and also attached to the bag of the specific book (post-it on comic bag) and our graders will review and make a determination on that request during the grading process.

    Thank you for your message. When you upgrade your membership, that will go into effect immediately.  Your new expiration date will be one year from the date you upgrade your membership so you will receive a full year at the new rate. The Elite member discount would be applied on any new orders or orders in house that have not yet been charged.  It would not apply to any orders in house that have already been charged.

    Thank you for your message.  I checked our census but don't see that we have graded any in the past.  We would need to see it in person before we could say for certain.  The max dimensions we could encapsulate would be:

    • 11-1/2” tall
    • 8-7/8” wide
    • 1/2” thick

    So if the book doesn't fit within these dimensions then we definitely couldn't grade or encapsulate it.  If it does fit, then we should be able to grade it but will need to see it in hand before we can say for certain.

    Thank you for your message.  You should still contact us before sending in anything for a mechanical error so we can verify the error or issue beforehand.  In this case, a change in the policy on how we list something on the label would not be considered an error as it was correct at the time we graded the book.  You could send that in for a reholder and we could update the wording to the most updated version and reprint the label for you.

    Thank you for your message.  I checked with the graders on this and they said it was just a glitch in our system and has been removed.  Does that appear on the actual label of your book?  If so, we can have you send it back and get that removed for you.  If you need to have the book sent back, please email us the information at submissions@cgccomics.com and we can send you the instructions and a pre-paid shipping label to send that back.

    Thank you for your message.  When entering items into the form you will want to check the title listed in the indicia and select that from the drop-down menu.  When the correct title is selected the form will autofill the remaining fields and you make your selections from the drop menus to select the specific comic/magazine from our database.  Keep in mind this functions similar to a library catalog; do not use articles such as "A, an , the" in the title.
    If you are unable to locate the specific title in the drop-down menu because it is either a brand new item or a unique item that CGC has not yet graded then you may manually enter the book information using the "ADD NEW" button located in the drop-down menu.   When items are manually entered into the form as opposed to making your selections from the drop-down menus the system does not recognize the book and may not be able to accurately quote the fees nor suggest any eligible custom labels for comics.

    Thank you for your message.  I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing.  If you submitted the books to a dealer and the dealer then sent them in on your behalf it may be difficult to determine when any damage might have occurred.  We don't know the original condition of a book before it was sent in.  If we receive a package that has any outward signs of damage, we refuse the package and have it sent back to the customer to inspect.  However, there have been times where there was no indication of damage to the box itself but the contents still sustained damage. If there is no outward damage to the box we will proceed with grading the books as they are.

    Hello, everything that is on one packing slip should be in one box.  We strongly recommend you do not break up orders into multiple shipping boxes as this can delay the processing of your order.  You can, however, have the books packed up into separate groupings within the one shipping box.

    Yes, Mechanical error is an option on the online form but you must contact us before sending in a Mechanical error to have it approved. As I mentioned, in most cases, as long as it is within 2 weeks of receiving your item back from us, we will allow you to send your book back for a free reholder due to scratches/scuffs/damage to holder, etc.

    Thank you for your message.  Both pressing and grading each have their own turnaround times, which you can find here: CGC Services & Fees | CGC (cgccomics.com)  It is a separate turnaround time for each service not combined so you would have to add the two together to get your total time for both services.
