  1. That reminds me. I got another comic in today that I need to scan. Not GA though.
  2. Ok. Here's a question that might clarify this (or just make it muddier). What is the current rule if someone stiffs someone in the Secret Santa threads? How about on a prize thread for a contest? My guess is this should be treated the same way. Or has that never happened?
  3. Couldn't find one so started one. I got a couple Schomburg covers (and the whole comics actually) from Joe. Quick ship, great communication, great transaction. Thanks Joe!
  4. WTTB! What a cool wife. She let you geek out not just one room, but the whole apartment! Very cool.

  6. Interestingly that same seller has two Hulk 181's that have sold. And both with positive feedback. Looks like he might have just found a stash of Hulk 181's.
  7. Yup. They fit in the bags. Plus there is no direct sunlight in the stairwell.
  8. I just wrote Brian (the guy at Gweedo's) and he designed it for me. He recommended I send the set to him so he could best custom frame them. I did and this was the result.
  9. I get mine from Gweedo's Showcase . I like that they use real hardwood in the frames (and you can get them with UV protection if you so wish). I have a house that's over 100 years old so I like that they match the decor. Frame it again Sam also sells CGC frames.
  10. I posted before when I had a few up. Thought I might post my "completed" stairwell. I switch out comics every once in a while. Right now I'm displaying: Schomburg and some early Marvels: Schomburg and early Marvels: Donruss Marvel Cards: Early Marvels: Steranko: Steranko:
  11. I always just assumed you were a disciple of Alexander Abian.
  12. Let's see if there is anybody out there that will figure out what mine is. (Not as easy as the 999ghosts... I think) Google Images says its...
  13. When I was a senior in high school our German class took a trip to Switzerland. While we were in Thun I caught a nasty stomach bug. I couldn't stop vomiting and thought for a while I would die I was so sick. Eventually the chaperone took me to the ER and they re-hydrated me. Ever since then I've used the username thunsicker. Oh and my name is Tim Hunsicker.
  14. Nope, dude backed out claiming "butt buy." Did GPA correct the sale listed for the 9.9? I find this to be of grave concern. This happens a lot on eBay and is why you cannot judge a safe price to pay for a book based on past auction results. Buyers are able to manipulate the market just by clicking a high BIN price and the price still shows up in past listings in most cases. This whole process needs to be reviewed and refined as it is happening all too often across all collecting fields. Yup. Not showing up on GPA anymore.
  15. Interesting comparison. Magneto in the movies was also a child during World War II. I don't buy Richard Gere as an 80 year old man.
  16. Here's my birth month comic: EDIT: Ok, I just stole Jools'. But probably the one I would have picked if I had to.
  17. That's got to be my favorite meme. And appropriate here.
  18. Great. So I suppose you two are now going to be a couple.
  19. I've been tempted by Clooneythons in the past, but it was an ordinary sales thread I ended up buying from. Shipping was fast and professional with enough packaging material to last me a year for reuse. The books were, if anything, under priced. Great experience. Thanks Mike.
  20. The Marvel Tales comparison doesn't work for me. In Mystery Tales case you are talking about a 57 year old comic with 3 issues on the census. It only takes a dozen or two Lost collectors (as well as horror comic collectors) to drive the price of an issue up to $600. In the Walking Dead case you are talking about a 10 year old comic with over 1500 issues on the census. It would take thousands and thousands of Walking Dead collectors to drive the comic up to $2000. While there might still be a couple dozen people who were really into Lost still I'm not sure there will be the thousands and thousands of collectors who are into The Walking Dead 5 years after the tv series ends. And I have no dog in the fight here. I don't really care if the price goes up or down. I'm not looking to sell or buy an issue.
  21. The problem is not so much the grades. The problem is missed restoration. Most people who have answered the resub question here say the grades come out about the same. It's the one in 4 or 5 who say their books came back restored that worry me.
